🇺🇸🇺🇦 Now that Hegseth has been confirmed as Sec Def, he could of course issue his own directive to pause DoD managed security assistance programs, for Ukraine or globally.
Important to remember that the Biden Admin did that themselves though. Drawdowns were terminated for 4 months, Jan-April 2024. So it wouldn't be unprecedented, but it would be equally disastrous. It's in the national security interest of the United States for weapons & ammo to continue flowing.
I have no unique insights into what course of action the Trump Admin will pursue here. Ukraine unfortunately did not receive very much attention during Hegseth's confirmation hearing. It just seems like a PR stunt by the Trump Administration. Bringing military ICVs is not an effective way to stop illegal immigrants. They are there for show.
