The only reason why Russia is burning all the troops it can recruit now is because it calculates that the victory in the future is more difficult. Moreover, it is so much more difficult that it is worth the risk sacrificing this much troops 8/

The Pacific Fleet completed a bilateral exercise of force groups, which was conducted from June 18 to 28 in the Pacific Ocean, Sea of Japan and Sea of Okhotsk under the overall leadership of the Commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Viktor Liina.
This year’s exercise was conducted for the first time in a bilateral format. It played out between the Primorsky flotilla of heterogeneous forces of the Pacific Fleet and the joint command of the Troops and Forces in the North-East of Russia.
At the final stage of the exercise, the OKVS forces attempted to land an amphibious assault force on the islands of the Kuril ridge. The naval tactical groups of the Primorsky Flotilla of heterogeneous forces of the Pacific Fleet did not allow the opposing side to realize their plans.
