The Stader team has announced that BNBx will sunset by Apr. 15, 2026. Deposits will be disabled beginning on Jan. 29, 2026, followed by an initial redemption window through Feb. 11, 2026, under the standard unbonding process (5-7 day unbonding period before claimable BNB).

From Feb. 26, 2026, to Mar. 3, 2026, the contract will be paused, and all validators made to exit. BNB will then be withdrawn from validators with the exchange rate finalized and frozen. At this point, all unstakes will be instantaneous. Users will be able to withdraw BNB at the final exchange rate from Mar. 3, 2026 to Apr. 15, 2026, with contract-based withdrawals remaining available thereafter.
The Stader DAO core team has posted a forum discussion on a proposal to sunset BNBx, citing operational costs, BNB market consolidation, and risk management as the primary driver. The liquid staking token represents roughly 2% of Stader's total TVL, while still requiring ongoing technical overhead, including contract maintenance, audits, oracle support, upgrades, and monitoring.

The proposal is identified as a "soft proposal" intended to gather community feedback and alignment before moving forward. If pursued, the sunset would be executed while market conditions remain stable, allowing for a controlled redemption process in which BNBx holders can exit and redeem native BNB at the full accrued exchange rate.
