Mini App Contest: Submissions

We received 186 submissions for the Mini App Contest, containing 206 total Mini Apps.

As the judges finalize their evaluations, all participants are welcome to study other submissions, vote and comment on them (you can share your thoughts from a user's perspective or create an issue in the appropriate repository, then post the link as a comment on contest.com).

This will become the foundation for community-driven development of an entire ecosystem of Mini Apps after the contest.
Update on the ML Competition

New Results Date: November 7th, 2023

A significant portion of participants (35 out of 94 entries) faced difficulties with their submissions and failed to comply with the General Requirements. We considered multiple scenarios, including disqualification – however, this is the first Telegram Contest for many of these participants, so we instead chose to provide them an extra opportunity.

The relevant contestants have been contacted and were requested to apply further clarifications to their submissions. Due to this, the judges required additional time and effort to process each non-compliant submission – waiting for the contestants to send back the requested information, then to re-build and re-run their entries.

Therefore, the results date has been postponed to November 7th – so that all the entries can be evaluated equally. We apologize for the incovenience.

We’ve also extended the deadline date for comments on contest.com. We kindly ask each contestant to check their entry for unresolved issues. The 59 entries requiring no further changes from our side will be prioritized in the final scoring. We will also apply relevant penalties for the submissions that did require them.

___

Based on preliminary testing:

73 entries have been run successfully (including the submissions we’ve had to rebuild).

↓

19 out of 73 entries with a detection rate lower than 70% have been disqualified for exceeding the 500ms limit per text sample.

↓

The remaining 54 entries will proceed to the 2nd testing stage.

Here is the list of submissions that achieved a 70% detection rate in the 1st testing stage:

| Entry | Result | Time
----+-------+--------+-------
1. | 4691 | 83.7% | 58ms
2. | 4633 | 82.6% | 69ms
3. | 4642 | 80.3% | 42ms
4. | 4661 | 77.5% | 46ms
5. | 4610 | 75.4% | 613ms
6. | 4672 | 74.5% | 265ms
7. | 4684 | 73.9% | 111ms
8. | 4614 | 73% | 552ms
9. | 4629 | 72.3% | 304ms
10. | 4606 | 71.8% | 141ms
11. | 4616 | 70.2% | 355ms

Stay tuned for the final results (they may differ greatly from these initial results πŸ‘†) on November 7th.

πŸ† Telegram UI Competition for Android

Prize fund
: Up to $30,000
Deadline: 23:59 on December 7th (Dubai time)
Who can participate: Everyone
Results: December 15th, 2023

Telegram is hosting a competition for Android developers to implement a new animation for deleting messages.

The Task:
Implement a new animation flow for deleting messages into Telegram for Android similar to the provided demo (the demo is a recording of a beta feature on Telegram for iOS). Your solution should support all entity types for both incoming and outgoing messages across all types of chats and channels.

The most preferable outcome is likely to be achieved by taking the component SpoilerEffect2.java as a reference. However, you may opt for your own approach as long as no third-party UI frameworks are used.

Evaluation Criteria:
The primary criteria for determining a winner will be the app's stability and performance while replicating the provided demo as closely as possible (the animation in general, also the particle flow and dispersion).

Your app must be free of significant flaws (including crashes, visual glitches, noticeable element blinking, layout errors, and more).

Devices:
During the evaluation stage, submissions will be tested on a broad range of devices and Android versions (Android 7-13) not limited to the mentioned below:
β€’ Samsung Galaxy (A12, A32, A51, S22 Ultra)
β€’ Xiaomi Redmi (9, 9A, Note 8 Pro, Note 11)
β€’ POCO (X3 Pro)
β€’ Oppo (A54).

Telegram for Android utilizes performance classification with SharedConfig.getDevicePerformanceClass() – each device is defined as HIGH, AVERAGE or LOW. In order for your app to qualify for a reward, your solution must work flawlessly on HIGH and AVERAGE devices. Introducing a proper implementation for LOW devices will be considered a bonus.

Submissions:
Contestants will be able to submit their entries to @ContestBot later. We will further clarify the submission instructions closer to the deadline.

P.S. Winners may be offered a chance to explore further cooperation opportunities with Telegram.
