Summer School: Mathematics of Large Networks
The Mathematics of Large Networks Summer School is part of the Large networks and their limits (2022 Spring) semester. This summer school aims to bring together mathematicians and network scientists to foster the exchange of ideas between these two fields. During the school four minicourses will be given by distinguished researchers in graph theory and network science for students from both fields, who are interested in multidisciplinary approaches to networks. The main topics of the summer school include geometry of networks, dynamics on/of networks, higher order structures, network inference and applications.

BMS Dirichlet Postdoc Fellowship: The Berlin Mathematics Research Center MATH+ and the Berlin Mathematical School (BMS) invite applications for the Dirichlet Postdoc Fellowship starting in Fall 2022. This two-year position is open to promising young mathematicians who will have completed their PhD degree by 30 September 2022 and want to pursue their own research in one of the eight broad research areas of mathematics covered by the Berlin Mathematical School. The competitive full-time salary includes health insurance. Fellows are expected to teach one semester course per year, typically in English at the graduate level. We are developing new models and generative principles for
complex systems, using a range of toolsets from dynamical
systems theory, game theory, and the neurosciences.
Examples are self-generated gaits for animals and
robotic systems, criticality in autonomous networks,
as well as Covid-19 modeling. Several subjects
are available for the announced PhD thesis,
depending on the background of the successful
candidate. The work will include analytical
investigations and numerical simulations.
The candidates should have a Diploma/Master in
physics with an excellent academic track record
and good computational skills. Experience or strong
interest in the fields of complex systems, dynamical
systems theory, game theory and/or artificial or
biological cognitive systems is expected. The
degree of scientific research experience is
expected to be on the level of a
German Diploma/Master.
The appointment will start in spring 2022,
for three years. Interested applicants
should submit a curriculum vitae and a
list of publications to the address below.
