☝️ A year ago, a similar natural disaster left 4.5 million residential buildings and businesses without electricity. A winter snow storm, a rare occurrence in the southern state, then claimed the lives of 246 people, and the total damage to the region amounted to $ 200 billion. Riot Blockchain, one of the largest mining companies in North America, announced that it had already reduced the power consumption of the equipment of its Whinstone farm in Texas by 98-99%.
“We will continue to reduce the load until the risk of an extreme situation disappears,” said Tristin Pifer, director of communications at Riot. A large company Compute North is ready to join Whinston, providing its data centers to Texas miners.

According to the data available today, April 2022 was another month of growth in the hashrate and the amount of BTC on the balance sheets of public miners, despite a slight decrease in the volume of “mined” bitcoins. The group of public miners we analyze below account for about 18% of the total network hashrate, based on the total April 37.91 EH / s (exahash / sec.) for this group and the decrease in the total network hashrate to 209.91 EH /s.
The total balance of BTC controlled by public miners, according to the latest data, is 46,132 BTC, or more than $1.3 billion at a price of $29,000/BTC.
