Twitter has officially added support for Bitcoin transactions through its Lightning Network scaling solution.
📌 Previously, users could already send small amounts to content creators using third-party services, including CashApp from Square, founded by Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. In the latest update, the service took into account the needs of users who do not have access to traditional payment methods.
The company explained that they chose the Lightning Network, taking into account the reduced fees for sending transactions. Users can connect a Lightning wallet or bind a bitcoin address to send and receive transfers in cryptocurrency. The function is currently supported by iOS devices; an extension for Android users is also planned for the near future.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Twitter is testing the ability to send bitcoin payments via Strike, a Lightning Network-focused app. Twitter has confirmed that it is indeed using Strike to process Bitcoin transactions. Twitter has officially added support for Bitcoin transactions through its Lightning Network scaling solution.
📌 Previously, users could already send small amounts to content creators using third-party services, including CashApp from Square, founded by Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. In the latest update, the service took into account the needs of users who do not have access to traditional payment methods.
The company explained that they chose the Lightning Network, taking into account the reduced fees for sending transactions. Users can connect a Lightning wallet or bind a bitcoin address to send and receive transfers in cryptocurrency. The function is currently supported by iOS devices; an extension for Android users is also planned for the near future.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Twitter is testing the ability to send bitcoin payments via Strike, a Lightning Network-focused app. Twitter has confirmed that it is indeed using Strike to process Bitcoin transactions. At the same time, the company itself will not participate in operations or charge commissions.

📌According to the document, a group of just thirty validators can steal about 750 BTC (~$17.2 million) through the so-called "zombie attack". It is reported that a group of colluding validators can block the cryptocurrency that passes through them, and the only form of protection against such an attack is to disconnect from the protocol.
In addition to the "zombie attack", attackers can conduct a coordinated double-spend attack. Such an attack results in receiving more cryptocurrency than the validator is supposed to receive. In this case, the solution may be to revalidate false transactions, which, however, as the researchers note, will hit the throughput of the protocol.
