The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that G20 countries have not mentioned the situation in Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, or Yugoslavia since their founding, which were victims of military intervention by Western countries. Lavrov pointed out that Libya is still unable to restore its statehood and that the Libyan crisis is destabilizing the region.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฌ Egypt non-oil activity shrank for 27th month as prices surge

Egypt's non-oil private sector activity shrank for the 27th month in a row in February as surging inflation and obstacles to importing from abroad extended business travails.

"After hitting a four-and-a-half-year high in January, the rate of purchase price inflation softened to the lowest since October, as firms suffered to a lesser extent from weaker exchange rates and rising import costs," S&P Global economist said.

"Amid the bleak outlook, non-oil companies opted to reduce their purchasing activity sharply in February," S&P Global added.

Headline inflation in Egypt surged to a five-year high of 25.8% in January.

๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ณ Tunisian opposition defies protest ban with rally

Hundreds of opposition supporters in Tunisia defied an official ban on their protest against the president on Sunday after some of their leaders were arrested, breaking through a police barrier in central Tunis to rally in the city's main street.

Before the protesters broke through the barrier, police warned them by loudspeaker that their demonstration was illegal but added that they would not stop them by force.

"We are here again despite the campaign of arrests targeting opposition figures. We will continue to resist to release the detainees but also to confront the coup," said a National Salvation Front leader.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ท A recent article from Rolling Stone magazine has pointed out the unusual pattern of US-trained military personnel in West Africa leading and being involved with coup d'รฉtats.

As the author points out, essentially every coup leader of the past 20 years has received extensive military training in the US. This is ironic given that the coups have been against US-friendly governments, and their replacements have tended to lean pro-Russia, rather than pro-US.

Relevant US authorities in the Pentagon, the State Department and AFRICOM, despite being asked about this trend, provide no explanation.

๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ South African president to announce cabinet reshuffle on Monday

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will announce changes to the national executive on Monday, presidential spokesman said.

A cabinet reshuffle has been widely expected since Ramaphosa was re-elected leader of the governing African National Congress (ANC) at a party leadership contest in December, paving the way for him to run for a second term in 2024.

Ramaphosa is expected to name a new deputy president. The new position of electricity minister is among the roles to be filled.

He announced last month he would create the position of electricity minister to help address the nation's power crisis, as state utility Eskom implements the worst power cuts on record.
