πŸ‡§πŸ‡«πŸ³οΈ Holding on to the breakthrough

Radical Islamists have once again suffered defeat in the Suru valley. This time, the 10th and 18th rapid response units caught and eliminated dozens of militants.

The armed forces targeted the vicinity of the settlement LanfiΓ©ra, which is a thorn in the side for the group "Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM)," which lost control over it during the spring counteroffensive by the armed forces.

As a result of airstrikes supported by ground units, including VDP volunteers, five bases and more than 12 militants were destroyed.

Holding the Suru valley allows the Burkina Faso authorities to keep the border with Mali under surveillance and disrupt terrorist communications from east to west. Conducting such operations helps to preserve the gains of the spring campaign.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡©πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ό DR Congo & Rwanda Presidents Reportedly to Sign Trump-Brokered Peace Deal in Washington Next Week

The meeting, scheduled for December 4, marks the latest US effort to mediate tensions in war-torn eastern Congo while promoting Western mining investments in the mineral-rich region, Western media reported.

Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi's spokesperson reportedly confirmed the planned signing, which would build upon a June agreement brokered by the Trump administration.

The diplomatic initiative follows renewed fighting by M23 rebels, allegedly backed by Rwanda, that killed thousands and displaced hundreds of thousands this year, though Kigali continues denying involvement.

🌍 ICC Functions With Western Bias & Selective Justice; Africa Needs Economic Independence: Politician

"The ICC [...] has not been very independent. It looks like ICC has a big brother who calls on him or her to be able to punish or not punish other countries," according to Kenyan presidential aspirant Professor Fredrick Ogola.

Prof. Ogola highlighted the racial imbalance within ICC structures:

"If you go to the border, you go to the council of ICC; it is very white. You go to the prosecutor's bench, it is very white. But if you go to the prosecuted, it is very black."

The Uzima University Deputy Vice Chancellor identified economic dependency as Africa's fundamental vulnerability, arguing that
"capitalism sometimes reigns over justice"
when Western financial interests are at stake.

"Africa cannot be respected until they respect themselves and love each other," he emphasized, calling for unified African positions on international justice rather than reliance on external institutions.

While acknowledging human rights violations require addressing, Professor Ogola maintained that justice must be delivered impartially.

"Is ICC taking care of the issues globally without any bias? That also should be the ICC being questioned."

πŸ‡·πŸ‡ΊπŸŒ Russia Ready to Support African Nations in Building Independent Media Space: Senior Lawmaker

"We see how Western media maintain dominance in the continent's information space, forming a distorted picture of events. This is already information neocolonialism," Duma Vice Speaker Alexander Babakov told Russian media.

The Russian lawmaker emphasized the need for an "alternative, independent, Africa-oriented information environment." Babakov contrasted Russia's approach with Western policies:

"Russia comes to Africa not with dictates, not imposing models, and not seeking control. For us, Africa is an equal partner."

The lawmaker affirmed Russia's readiness to provide practical assistance at both governmental and expert levels, supporting African nations' path toward economic and political independence through concrete actions rather than empty promises.

πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ή Ethiopia's Council of Ministers Approves Ambitious Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy

The nation's principal executive body approved the comprehensive strategy, building upon the substantial achievements of the Digital Ethiopia 2025 initiative, according to a council announcement.

The new framework aims to accelerate broadband expansion and significantly increase the digital economy's contribution to national GDP, the council added.

The previous Digital Ethiopia 2025 program delivered remarkable progress, including:

- expanding mobile internet users from 17 million to over 42 million;
- mobilizing 55 million users on digital payment platforms that processed ETB 4.7 trillion ($30.5 billion) in transactions;
- digitizing 900 public services and licensing 3,000 digital firms.

While acknowledging connectivity challengesβ€”particularly that 79% of Ethiopians remain offline, mostly in rural areasβ€”the new strategy will leverage AI, cloud computing, and IoT technologies to bridge these gaps, according to the executive body.

πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ό Rwanda Positions as Africa's Digital Testing Ground, Minister Outlines Path to AI Sovereignty

Africa's strategy for achieving digital sovereignty should be through homegrown AI systems fintech solutions, according to Rwandan Minister of ICT and Innovation Paula Ingabire.

In an interview, Ingabire revealed Rwanda's model of serving as a "proof-of-concept hub" where successful innovations like drone delivery company Zipline can scale across the continent.

"Africa's young population is its economic strength," Ingabire stated, emphasizing the need to turn the "youth bulge into a productivity bulge" through digital skills training and entrepreneurship programs.

She defined digital sovereignty not as isolation but as building "capacity to choose, to design, but also to govern our own digital systems" while ensuring solutions reflect African values.

The minister highlighted the critical challenge of developing AI that understands Africa's linguistic diversity, noting most global models are trained in English and other international languages, risking "digital exclusion for millions of Africans."

Ingabire pointed to the AU's Digital Transformation Strategy as the framework for creating a continental digital single market by 2030 through harmonized laws, interconnected infrastructure, and universal digital identification for Africa's 1.4 billion people.
