Statement by the SDC in regards to the sectarian violence in Syria's coastal region
Amid rising tensions in the areas of Syria’s coastal region, the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) affirms that protecting the lives of Syrians is an absolute priority. This protection must extend to all individuals, regardless of their affiliations. There can be no justification for escalating violence against civilians and local institutions.
The SDC calls on the authorities in Damascus to prioritize reason in addressing these events. It urges the authority to urgently assume its national responsibilities to de-escalate the situation. Also, it emphasizes that targeting civilians constitutes a blatant violation of civil peace. Additionally, attacks on local police forces are equally condemnable.
We categorically reject military confrontations. Instead, we call for addressing the root causes of tension through serious and responsible dialogue.
This dialogue must take place away from militarization and sectarian incitement. Prioritizing the national interest is essential to avoid repeating the painful experiences in Syria’s history and neighboring countries.
Civil peace is the cornerstone of any stable and secure future. Any form of violence undermines this foundation and deepens societal divisions. Similarly, sectarian incitement only prolongs suffering and fuels instability.
Therefore, we call on all Syrians to reject sedition in all its forms. Hate speech must also be confronted and eliminated. It is crucial for Syrians to unite in protecting the social fabric of their society.
Fostering dialogue and mutual understanding is a collective responsibility. Syria can only rise through the unity of its people. Respecting the diversity that forms Syria’s national identity is key to achieving this unity.
In this context, we warn of the significant escalation that is currently unfolding. Such an escalation could drag Syria back into a cycle of violence, serving the interests of those who reject peace. It would also undermine the security and unity of the country, further destabilizing the region.
We also stress the necessity of establishing a transitional justice mechanism. This mechanism must hold perpetrators of crimes accountable for their actions. At the same time, it should outline a clear path for national reconciliation. This path must ensure justice and promote an inclusive national peace process. At the same time, we warn against attempts by regional powers to exploit the internal conflict in Syria. We believe that international silence on this matter is unjustified and unacceptable.
Therefore, we urge the United Nations and the Security Council to adopt more serious and decisive positions. They should issue a binding resolution calling for a nationwide ceasefire in Syria. Additionally, they must support a comprehensive and meaningful political process that ensures stability and puts an end to the cycle of violence.
The SDC reiterates its commitment to working towards a just political solution. This solution must achieve lasting peace and stability for Syria.
It is essential to ensure a secure and prosperous future for all Syrians. Such a future must be built, free from the logic of war and conflict. These have only brought destruction and suffering to the Syrian people.

Statement by the YPJ General Command to the People of Myanmar
To the people of Myanmar,
as the Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) of North and East Syria we express our deepest condolences to all the families of those citizens that have lost their lives or are still being missed as a result of the earthquake and in general to the people of Myanmar for the pain that you are experiencing, as we share it with you.
As a result of this brutal capitalist system we are facing today not just an ecocide at an accelerating pace, but know that the consequences of this is burdened on the people as states refuse to care for their people’s protection. While the government should be rescuing people and rebuilding the country after such devastation, the junta has decided to do the opposite, continuing its war against the democratic nation of Myanmar.

YPJ General Command sends condolences to the Catholic people
To the Catholic People
We are deeply saddened by the death of Pope Francis and send our condolences to all peoples of the Catholic faith.
Human values had a great place in the life of Pope Francis. He fought for peace, democracy, human rights and the protection of nature. As much as it is a painful Easter Monday it will be even more remembered as a day of peace and democracy.

Martyrdom: what is the meaning of those who gave their life in the struggle for freedom?
The revolution in North and East Syria has seen around 14.000 friends martyred. To honor them the 25th of April was declared "Day of Martyrs of North an East Syria" by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.
On this occasion we spoke with Gulê, mother of a fallen fighter and spokesperson of the Women's Committee of the Federation of Families of Martyrs, about this question. 🌹✌️

Guardians of freedom: YPJ Commander Nesrin Abdullah on martyrdom & the revolution in North and East Syria
Without all the friends who have given their precious life, the Rojava revolution would not exist. Our existence is bound to their martyrdom. They are our legacy.
For the official 'Day of Martyrs of North and East Syria', which commemorates all martyrs but especially those of the Qereçox hill massacre (25.04.2017), we spoke with YPJ Commander Nesrin Abdullah about the meaning of martyrdom and martyrs for the revolution. She remembers the martyrs of the Qereçox hill massacre and explains how the people's response to this attack became paradigmatic for a common struggle for the democratic nation and freedom.

NEW BROCHURE: Turkish state attacks on women who defeated ISIS
The revolution in North and East Syria is driven by the pioneering role of the YPJ, which has resisted all occupying forces and militias, and became a source of inspiration and great strength for all women around the world.
The occupying Turkish state, which bases its existence on the extinction of the Kurdish people and the revolution, has seen the revolution from its beginning as a threat to itself, thus carrying out numerous attacks in order to obstruct and weaken the revolution from progressing. Feeling particularly threatened by the fact that this is a women’s revolution in its truest sense, the Turkish state has been especially targeting women and the leaders of this revolution.
In this brochure, we are shedding light on the lives of the YPJ fighters and commanders who were martyred in the year 2024 in assassinations by the Turkish state.

Heroines of Resistance
We only now learned of the martyrdom of 5 of our beloved and courageous YPJ fighters who themselves led a historic resistance in Manbij. Comrade Tolhildan Serêkanîyê was martyred in combat in Manbij. Our comrades Nergîz Dilda Welat, Cudî Tolhildan, Axîn Koçer, Sema Hesekê chose martyrdom instead of falling in the barbaric hands of the enemy when their ammunition was depleted as they decided to detonate their last grenades upon the enemy.
The path illuminated by these five martyred comrades will forever remain our guiding goal as we intensify the struggle. Through their ultimate sacrifice, they have become the guarantee of this great people’s revolution. Despite the continuing occupation attacks, they stood firm and fought with unwavering resolve. We pledge to carry forward their struggle tirelessly until we realize the dreams of our martyrs.

We can construct a future Syria that is democratic and secure
Statement of the YPJ General Command in regards to the newest developments in Syria:
📌"In light of the recent developments in Syria particularly following Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s (HTS) seizure of power and the overthrow of the Ba’athist Syrian regime we observe that the conflict in Syria has deepened, descending further into widespread chaos."
📌"Our Druze people represent an ancient and honorable community, just like all the other components of Syrian society, and they have long struggled for their freedom and independence. HTS, with its authoritarian and oppressive mentality, seeks to subjugate the deeply rooted peoples of this land, such as the Alawites and Druze, deliberately sowing sectarian conflict and fueling tensions among the diverse communities of the region."
📌"As the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), we categorically condemn these terrorist crimes committed against our Druze and Alawite peoples, who are an integral part of Syria’s social fabric."
📌"We believe that self-defense is the primary and indispensable guarantee for building a free and democratic society."
📌"We can construct a future Syria that is democratic and secure, guided by the ethical and aesthetic consciousness of womens consciousness that stands in direct opposition to the dominant, violent, patriarchal mentality."
