Oh, to cast one's mind back to those difficult days--before the ghastly Industrial Revolution--when fires absolutely refused to give off any heat.

James Corbett's outstanding work has not gone, and did not go, unnoticed; even in 1964.

As always, the Annual Fake News Awards are well worth listening to:

This is pretty amazing - UN special rapporteurs have expressed grave concern about the UK's detention and arrest of independent journalists and activists - including myself - under counter-terror legislation, and demanded answers from the government. Let's see what happens...

In overhearing a telephone conversation this morning, it turned out I was breakfasting next to the man who cleaned Downing Street at dawn.

Conversation was duly opened, with a request for comment on my assumption that it must have been filthy.

A charming fellow, and one I would far sooner see on the inside of Number 10 than the current resident; having handed over his hi-vis overalls on the way in.

Addendum: A parting salute turned into a longer exchange, the result of which is that he now has my UKC business card and several recommendations for content requiring immediate attention. He sees through the nonsense, even the Trump nonsense, and his closing remarks (on immigration (he is from Chicago)) included a witticism picked up during his college days:

"Don't hate someone for the colour of their skin. Get to know them properly, and then you can hate them for lots of other reasons."

Presumably his cover was blown when it became clear he was the only person in the building adhering to the central tenet of the Hippocratic oath.

The first UK Column On Location of 2025 will be on Saturday 5 Apr, in Cheltenham.

Since we'll be on GCHQ's doorstep, the theme will be the machinations of the Deep State, and what we can do to combat the forces therein.

Tickets are now on sale and we'll be announcing our lineup of speakers soon.

Dear Farmers: 999, Part 3 – Food of the Future or Perhaps No Food in the Future – with Roger Meacock and Sandi Adams

Sandi explores Sainsbury’s Future of Food report: algae milk lattes, jellyfish dishes, and cricket carbonara are on the menu—farmers allegedly off it. Roger asks why Bovaer isn't categorised as a pharmaceutical in the UK.

Jon Cook's raw milk is incredibly good. I know this, because it's the only milk I drink.

Winter is a tough time for a dairy which doesn't rely on grain-based, chemically-tainted feeds.

I know lots of these sorts of appeals are circulated, but if you would like to support a raw milk producer who only deals with the public directly, please see the link below.

I put this under the heading of investment in the world I want to live in.

Did you know.... The BBC issued approximately 36.1 million TV licence enforcement letters to UK households in the financial year 2022–2023.
This equates to nearly 99,000 letters per day. Based on an estimated postage cost of £0.65 per letter, this costs approximately £23.47 million per year.

In my opinion, a great piece by Richard Morrissey, on the perils of weakening the familial unit.

I would say this is a must-read for children, those working with children, anyone with children in their family and those likely to produce children. More or less everyone.

"What makes digital tribes particularly insidious is that they provide what Scruton referred to as a ‘simulacrum’ of belonging: an illusion of community without its true substance.

Unlike familial bonds, which require reciprocal obligations and teach us how to navigate authentic relationships, digital connections enable us to curate our interactions, allowing us to sidestep the very friction that fosters character development and genuine understanding. This superficial sense of belonging renders young people especially susceptible to ideological manipulation."
