Many might wonder why bother with study skills tutorials. Well… those many people who might be wondering why they should spend more time to sharpen their study skills, are mostly accused of not being successful at accomplishing hard tasks. And learning is one of those hard tasks.
I have lectured and preached my students to the point where they got bored over the importance of study skills.
With all the distractions that we are surrounded with these days, including but not limited to, watching TV, spending time one Facebook, hanging out with friends and many other tempting and luring distractions that are beckoning at us day and night to have our time wasted away, it is very hard to spend time studying and learning new things. Though those things that cause distractions, if used right and properly, can aid you to learn faster.
It doesn’t take focus and determination only to stay on track. It takes more than that. You must be armed and equipped with the right skills to have your life managed well.
I think what I wrote above is convincing enough to have you watch the videos on #Study_Skills.
Well… if not. Then I can’t tell you more tonight it’s been a long day and I’d rather hit the bed than type stupid things on my computer.
Good night to you all and sleep well

OK, it's past its sell-by date, but this is – or was – food. Grown, produced, processed and discarded; a super-size serving of stinking waste.
Paul Killoughery, Managing Director, Bio Collectors
“It's amazing how much food is thrown out, and it's amazing how long it's taken the message to get through. If you don't have to eat it, don't buy it.”
Overproduction is a fact of the modern food industry. Most of the surplus - good nutritious stuff - goes to waste. But here, there’s another way. At the FareShare charity they take the surplus and use it to feed the hungry.
Lindsay Boswell, Chief Executive, FareShare
“The thing that really drives us nuts is it's going to waste whilst there are people going hungry. We feed, at the moment, half a million people a week – half a million people a week - with this food; we do that to seven thousand frontline charity and community groups.”
Which is good news here at the Melton Learning Hub, where disadvantaged kids get good fresh food.
Sarah Cox, Manager, Melton Learning Hub
“Just for our kids, it means they get a hot meal… they definitely get a hot meal every day. Lots of different circumstances the young people come to us in and this is a brilliant way of using food that would, as you say, go to waste.”
Tackling the issue will mean dumping less food and doing more with whatever goes in the bin. Here it’s used to make valuable fertiliser to generate gas and electricity.
But most of our discarded food still goes to the incinerator or to landfill - perhaps the definition of waste in a hungry world.

‘Sell-by’ dates are aimed at the shopkeepers rather than shoppers. They indicate how long the food should remain on sale. A ‘use-by’ date is a really important one to take note of -after this date, the food may not be safe to eat.

I was in a job interview today when the manager handed me his laptop and said, "I want you to try and sell this to me."
So I put it under my arm, walked out of the building and went home.
Eventually he called my mobile and said, "Bring it back here right now!"
I said, "£100 and it's yours.”

Acidic oceans will reduce sea life, says study

ecology– relationship between living beings and their environment
species – a group of organisms with similar characteristics
food web – relationship between living beings as they eat each other
Answer this…
Which sea creature could have its population reduced by a quarter if levels of CO2 are left to rise in the sea?
Transcript
Here is the effect of carbon dioxide on sea water. These bubbles contain natural CO2 from an underwater volcano in Papua New Guinea. Few sea creatures can live here because the CO2 has made nearby water more acidic. Swim away from those vents, and what a difference.
The sea's chemistry returns to normal. And wonderful reef life can thrive. But industrial society is churning out CO2 on a massive scale. And the gas is being absorbed into seawater round the world, making it all more acidic.
Dr SIMON BOXALL, Oceanographer
This comprehensive study confirms what we have been observing globally. Ocean suffocation is a problem. Acidity is increasing, and that's not just having an impact on the ecology which we're seeing already. But it will have an impact on us as humans further down the line.
Take one fish we love to eat, cod. The research shows that baby cod are especially sensitive to more acidic water. It projects that if CO2 levels rise unchecked, we should expect only a quarter as many cod in the seas. Some species will thrive with the changes, the scientists say, like some seaweeds. But the report warns that all sea life will be affected by the disruption of the food web in the seas.

Did you get it?
Which sea creature could have its population reduced by a quarter if levels of CO2 are left to rise in the sea?
The answer:
According to this research, if CO2 levels rise unchecked, we should expect only a quarter as many cod in the seas.

Around 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered by oceans. Despite this, it is estimated that 95% of the world’s oceans and 99% of the ocean floor are unexplored. This is due to the difficulty, time and cost needed to do so.

I went to the flight desk and told the lady there that the airline had lost my luggage.
"Has your flight landed yet?" she asked me.

My therapist told me that a great way to let go of your anger is to write letters to people you hate and then burn them...
I did that and I feel much better but I'm wondering...
