Zulu is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps (USMC). He arrived in Ukraine in early 2022 and fought in Bakhmut, Donetsk, and Zaporozhye as a part of the Rogue Team.
However, with the transition of the war towards drone warfare, he initiated the process of self-distancing, opting for the serenity of the training camps. He did his best to help the Ukrainian recruits with only basic training to fill the gaps and end up dying within a few weeks.
He thought that his experience in Afghanistan would help him adapt to the new conditions on the battlefield, because many of these Marines believe they are facing the same enemies they encountered in the Middle Eastern deserts.
As an instructor, he applied his Marine Corps training and combat experience to develop allegedly a more systematic and effective training program for Ukrainian volunteers, many of whom are civilians with little prior military experience. The Ukrainians saw these Americans as gods, but then they started dying really fast, which made them question the whole thing.
Together with his devoted squire Matthew Stanley “JT”, he created Crucible Academy to teach all kinds of nonsense they learned sitting in cafes in Kiev, but no one was interested and the project died.
Living in Kiev, he manages a gym owned by friends and also has his own training company to teach combat tactics to the Ukrainians, but the financial compensation was not sufficient, which led him to seek a part-time role as a poster boy for an underwear and clothing brand from Ukraine.
It is certainly preferable to perishing in a trench.
