In Celtic lore, October 31st is Samhain (All Hallow’s Eve, or Halloween): the night when Arawn, lord of Darkness, rides the hills with his ghostly white hounds, and the Faery Court rides forth in stately procession across the land. In ancient times, hearth fires were smothered while bonfires blazed upon the hills.
Samhain became the Halloween we are more familiar with around the beginning of the seventh century when Catholic missionaries attempted to Christianise the rituals of the Celtic people. In 601 AD Pope Gregory the First issued an edict to his missionaries urging them to adapt the rituals of the old pagan festivals into new, Christian celebrations...so Samhain was changed to Hallowmas, or All Saints' Day, to commemorate the souls of the blessed dead who had been canonized that year, and the night before became popularly known as Halloween.

“If someone refuses, in our facilities, to be tested, they have to keep staying. So they won’t be able to leave after fourteen days, they have to stay on for another fourteen days. So it’s a pretty good incentive. You either get your tests done and make sure you cleared, or we will keep you in the facility longer. So I think people - most people will look at that and say, ‘I’ll take the test.’”
