Mykhaylo Podolyak, the adviser to the head of Volodymyr Zelenskyy's office, has said that Ukrainian troops have lost 10,000 to 13,000 people since February.

Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, issued a statement saying that 100,000 Ukrainian servicemen had died. Later, the paragraph about the number of dead and wounded was completely removed from the EC head's written and video statement. After the midterm elections the US is questioning its strategy on 🇺🇦Ukraine, Le Monde reports

Nine months after the war began, despite occasional disagreements, unity among Western allies remains strong, US President Joe Biden and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron stressed at the White House on Thursday, December 1.

But despite this tentative assessment, concerns are beginning to emerge about the durability of the US strategy, as there are no credible prospects for negotiations as winter approaches. These questions concern both the realistic goals the Ukrainians can achieve and the reliability of Western support, as discontent grows among the general public.

In a Wall Street Journal poll released in early November, the American public's support for Ukraine is declining, with nearly 30% saying the Biden administration is doing too much to help Ukraine, down from 6% in March. The shift is particularly large among Republicans, at 48%.

The Italian cabinet has passed a decree extending arms deliveries to Kiev throughout 2023.

This was reported by the Corriere della Sera.

"The Council of Ministers has given the go-ahead to the so-called "NATO decree," which extends the decisions already taken by the past Draghi government, which expires on December 31," the newspaper said.

As time goes by, it becomes more likely that those western weapons sold n the black market by Ukraine will not just reappear, but at that moment will already be used in a terrorist attack or some big mess where many civilians will die.
This will create real problem for both officials and politicians in the west who support the case for increasing arms transfers to Ukraine. 
This is the catalyst the Republicans are waiting for and they surely are glad to use this case in their domestic political presidential game before the 2024 elections.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said weapons from the raging war between Russia and Ukraine are now slipping into the Lake Chad Basin region.

The Czech Republic's parliament on Dec. 1 approved a proposal to train Ukrainian soldiers in the country and deploy Czech soldiers in European Union member states to train Ukrainian service members, Radio Prague International reported.

Up to 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers will be able to undergo training in the Czech Republic in 2023, the report reads.

Germany has handed over to Ukraine unmanned surface vessels, some bridge-laying tanks and dozens of border protection vehicles as part of their new batch of military aid, according to a statement posted on the German government website.

The equipment delivered to Ukraine over the past few days includes three Beaver bridge-laying tanks, eight unmanned surface vessels (two were transferred to Ukraine earlier), 12 border protection vehicles (65 of them have already been provided in total), 4,000 sleeping bags (in addition to the 10,000 delivered earlier), spare parts for Mi-24 helicopters, and 30 ambulances.

⚡️Spanish minister: Letter bombs won't change decision to help Ukraine.

Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles said on Dec. 1 that no letters with explosives or any other violent actions would change the country's "firm and clear" commitment to support Ukraine in its defense against ' Russian aggression', BBC reported.

Earlier on the same day, yet another letter bomb was found at the U.S. embassy in Madrid, according to the Spanish newspaper El Pais.

Previously, similar explosives were sent to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Defense Minister Margarita Robles.

Letter bombs have been sent to many top Spanish officials, the U.S. and Ukrainian embassies in Madrid, the Torrejon de Ardoz air base in Madrid, and the headquarters of Spanish weapons manufacturer Instalaza, which produces rocket launchers supplied to Ukraine.
