- "The peacemaker" began his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos by stating that the audience consisted of "friends and a few enemies". After this, he proceeded to list his achievements over the year in the White House and harshly criticized European countries.

- According to Trump, Europe is "moving in the wrong direction" and has become a "problematic continent" over the past decade. Among the key problems, he named migration and a decline in investment levels, noting that a number of European states are "not in the best condition".

- Separately, the US president touched on the topic of Greenland, declaring his intention to "immediately start negotiations" about its acquisition. He called Denmark ungrateful, recalling that during the Second World War, it "fell in 6 hours", and the US, according to him, took on the defense of the island. "Without us, you would be speaking German or, perhaps, a little Japanese," Trump stated.

The White House has not currently requested the Pentagon to plan a military invasion of Greenland, reports The New York Times, citing sources.

Military analysts claim that a seizure of Greenland by the US military would not be difficult. The island is sparsely populated (56,000 people in an area roughly three times the size of Texas) and has one American base in the far north of the country.

However, Pentagon representatives and high-ranking commanders are dissatisfied and annoyed that Trump continues to allow the possibility of a military scenario.

The US President's special envoy, Steven Witkoff, announced that he will fly to Moscow for a meeting with Putin on Thursday:
