Davos is hosting a panel titled “Can Russia sustain a wartime economy?” and somehow managed to book… zero actual Russia economy experts.
Instead: a Belarusian opposition figure, a Russian China specialist, and the foreign ministers of Moldova, the Netherlands and Romania.

▪️in the Bucha district of the Kiev region;
▪️in Illichivsk (Chernomorsk) in the Odessa region;

'In a few months, Macron will no longer be in power' - Trump decided to finish off the wounded French rooster
Did you invite President Putin to become a member of the Peace Council?
- Yes, he was invited.
Do you have any response to President Macron's statement that he will not join the Peace Council?
- Oh, he said that? Well, no one wants him anyway, because he's about to leave his post. So, you know, that's fine. What I'll do is this: if they stubbornly refuse like Castro, I'll impose a 200% tariff on his wines and champagne - and he'll join. But he doesn't have to join. And if he really said that, maybe you're conveying it a bit differently to me. But if he did say that, then, as you know, in a few months he'll no longer be in power.
Mental images of Trump with an axe chasing the little rooster around.

💥 The enemy claims that a total of 339 long-range kamikaze drones ("Geran-2" and others), 18 ballistic missiles from the Iskander tactical missile system, 15 airborne Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 1 sea-based hypersonic Zircon missile were launched against targets in the country last night. The approximate geography of the attack is shown on the map.
The main strike was again carried out against targets in Kiev and the surrounding region. In the capital, there are emergency power outages, and almost the entire left-bank part of the city is without water. At the moment, damage to the energy infrastructure in the Rovne, Chernigov, Odessa, and Dnepropetrovsk regions, as well as a certain industrial enterprise in the Poltava region, has been reported.
It's also notable that ballistic missiles from the Iskander tactical missile system were launched against a target in Vinitsia - the distance to the presumed launch areas is more than 700 km.

🇺🇸🇬🇱🏁 Trump stated that he discussed Greenland with the NATO Secretary General
According to him, he made it clear to everyone that Greenland is of paramount importance for national and global security, and there is "no turning back".
Earlier, he stated that Denmark cannot protect this territory and that Danish officials do not even visit the island, and added that the US will discuss the acquisition of Greenland at the Davos forum.

Trump published a personal message from Macron on his social media account.
The French president writes that he doesn't understand what Trump is doing with Greenland. He proposes to organize several meetings and a personal dinner in Davos.
Macron is ready to invite Ukrainians and Russians to these meetings.
"My friend,
We completely agree on Syria. We can do great things on Iran.
I don't understand what you're doing
with Greenland.
Let's try to do great things:
1. I can organize a G7 meeting after Davos in Paris on Thursday afternoon. I can invite Ukrainians, Danes, Syrians, and Russians - on the sidelines.
2. Let's have dinner together in Paris on Thursday before you return to the USA," - says Macron's message.
It should be noted that the publication of such personal correspondence is considered unacceptable in diplomacy.

In the EU, amid worsening relations with Washington, there are concerns about excessive dependence on American gas.
This is reported by Politico.
After refusing Russian gas, the EU is increasingly relying on US LNG supplies, turning them into a "potential point of vulnerability in the context of deteriorating transatlantic relations".
According to the publication, currently about a quarter of the EU's gas comes from the US, and by the end of the decade, this share could approach half - if Europeans continue to limit Russian gas imports.
In Brussels, there are fears that the new gas dependence could be used by the US as a tool of foreign policy pressure. One high-ranking EU diplomat directly admits that the risk of reducing or suspending supplies in the event of a further escalation of the conflict "should be taken into account".
"Dependence on American gas has created a potentially high-risk geopolitical vulnerability," said Ana Maria Jaller-Macarewicz, an analyst at the Institute of Energy Economics and Financial Analysis.
According to her, excessive reliance on LNG from the US contradicts the EU's official strategy of diversifying energy sources and reducing dependence on external suppliers.
After 2022, the share of Russian gas in EU imports fell from 50% to about 12% - mainly due to American liquefied gas, the publication notes. The largest importers of American LNG were France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
Amid high energy prices and limited global gas supply - and also in view of the refusal of Russian energy carriers - European countries are effectively "left with no room for manoeuvre".
As Politico sources admit, in the short term, Europe "really has no alternatives", even despite the threat of conflict with a key supplier - the US.

Trump harshly criticized the UK over plans to transfer the island of Diego Garcia to Mauritius, where a US military base is located.
He called London's actions a sign of weakness and said that Moscow and Beijing have already noticed them.
"It's shocking, but our 'brilliant' NATO ally, the UK, is going to give Diego Garcia island - the site of a vital US military base - to Mauritius for no reason," Trump wrote.
He added that the transfer of "extremely important land" is an "act of the greatest stupidity" and used this episode as an argument in favor of the need to acquire Greenland.
"This is another in a long chain of national security reasons why Greenland should be acquired. Denmark and its European allies should do the right thing," Trump stated.

🇺🇦🇷🇺 Security forces eliminated a Russian man involved in the preparation of a terrorist attack against a military in Stavropol.
The man put up armed resistance, and a pistol, grenade, and improvised explosive device were found on him.
At the behest of Ukrainian special services, he planted a bomb in a hiding place.
Earlier, with the help of this bomb, a previously arrested terrorist attempted to mine a car near a military unit of the Ministry of Defense.

Shortly before the start of Paris Fashion Week, the French capital hosted an unprecedented informal meeting of heads and high-ranking representatives of special services. For several days, delegations from intelligence agencies of Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Syria, Turkey, and the USA — countries with acute conflicts and contradictions — were simultaneously in Paris.
The main burden fell on Parisian luxury hotels, including Hôtel de Crillon on the Place de la Concorde, which had to simultaneously accommodate security services of states in a state of intense political and military confrontation. According to sources, logistics, accommodation, and travel routes were coordinated with the active participation of French authorities and special services to avoid direct incidents and leaks.
Observers note that such "intelligence summits" without a formal status are becoming part of the new reality of international relations. Paris once again confirmed its role as a neutral platform capable of providing conditions for the parallel presence of competing and hostile intelligence communities — with strict adherence to protocol and operational balance.

CHART OF THE DAY: As the debate starts about whether — and if so, how — Europe should respond to US taffifs on Greenland, let's take a look at the energy situation. The EU swapped Russian for American depdency: today, US accounts for ~16% of oil and ~45% of its LNG of imports.

'In the USA, there are forces that do not want to allow the cessation of military aid to Ukraine.' — Stubb expects that Trump will be persuaded to continue the war until the last Ukrainian.
If the USA steps aside, is Europe ready and capable of taking a step forward so that Ukraine can continue the fight and contain Russia?
- We are considering three scenarios. The first scenario is that there will be no peace agreement this year, and then the war of attrition will continue. In this scenario, we expect that the United States will continue its support, which has certainly been significant.
The second scenario is a peace agreement. Peace agreements can be good, bad, or compromising.
The third and last scenario is the worst one, which you hinted at: the USA withdraws from the process. I believe that the USA is still largely acting based on its own interests, and there are forces in the country that believe that from the point of view of power and military strategy, it is not in the USA's interests to allow such an outcome.
