Ukraine has a month left before default – The Economist
On August 1, the deadline for suspending payments on Ukraine's debt expires. If the authorities cannot agree with investors on debt restructuring, they will have to declare a default, the publication writes.
It is noted that the conflict continues to cause heavy damage to the Ukrainian economy. The country's GDP dropped by a quarter. The central bank is burning through foreign exchange reserves, and recent Russian attacks on critical infrastructure have further lowered economic growth forecasts. The size of Ukraine's debt has reached 94% of GDP.
Although Kiev receives support from the West, it mainly comes in the form of military aid, and the country “very soon faces an acute cash shortage.”

🇷🇺 Russian Army has liberated Stepovaya Novoselovka in Kharkov Region and Novopokrovske in the Donetsk people's republic, - Defense Ministry.
- The military ministry confirmed that as a result of successful actions, units of the Center group of troops have liberated the Novopokrovskoye settlement (between Ocheretino and Pokrovskoye) in the DNR and improved their tactical position on the front line.
- The units of Army Group West liberated the village of Stepovaya Novosyolovka in the Kupyansk direction.

Members of Joe Biden’s family privately trashed his top campaign advisers at Camp David this weekend, blaming them for the president’s flop in Thursday’s debate and urging Biden to fire or demote people in his political high command.
Among the family’s complaints about the debate practice: that Biden was not prepared to pivot more to go on the attack; that he was bogged down too much on defending his record rather than outlining a vision for a second term; and that he was over-worked and not well-rested.
The blame was cast widely on staffers, including: Anita Dunn, the senior adviser who frequently has the president’s ear; her husband, Bob Bauer, the president’s attorney who played Trump in rehearsals at Camp David; and Ron Klain, the former chief of staff who ran point on the debate prep and previous cycles’ sessions.
Biden allies and staffers have sought to blame a variety of factors in the aftermath of Biden’s dismal debate performance, including that the president was ill, was over-prepared and that the CNN moderators failed to fact-check former President Donald Trump. But as the crisis continued into a third day, the finger-pointing has turned inward toward some of Biden’s closest advisers.
The focus on the staff, however, also allowed the family to overlook Biden’s own failings in Atlanta, one of the people familiar noted.
These people said the Biden family wanted the president to continue in the campaign rather than end his career with a calamitous debate performance against Trump, whom they all loathe. First lady Jill Biden and his son Hunter Biden were the loudest voices urging the president to stay in the 2024 contest.

🟠 The department reported that the group planned to carry out “provocations” on June 30 in Kiev under the guise of holding a “veche” (popular assembly). “The attackers planned to announce the removal from power of the current military-political leadership of Ukraine. Then they hoped to seize the Verkhovna Rada and block its work,” the SBU claims.
🟠 The organizers planned to organize a peaceful meeting in the center of Kiev, and then use the participants “in the dark, without revealing to them their true intentions regarding the provocations.” The SBU claims that during searches in the premises of the organizers they found weapons and ammunition, as well as draft plans. The group members were accused of actions aimed at violently changing the constitutional order. The detainees were placed under arrest and face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property
