Over the past three days, St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College hosted the Pediatric BASIC (Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care) training program. This comprehensive course was conducted by a team of pediatric ICU and emergency specialists from Australia and Rwanda. It was tailored for pediatricians, pediatric surgeons, subspecialty fellows, emergency physicians , as well as emergency and critical care nurses.
The training covered essential and advanced pediatric critical care skills through a combination of engaging lectures, hands-on skill stations, and simulation exercises. All participants successfully achieved competency, significantly enhancing their critical care expertise for practical application in their respective units.

Dr. Yohans Zerihun, our dedicated intern, in partnership with Mekidim Electromechanical Workshop, has successfully designed, built, and donated a modified Hip Spica Table to enhance care in our hospital's pediatric orthopedics department. In recognition of their outstanding contribution, St. Paul's Aabet Hospital has proudly awarded certificates of appreciation to both parties. This inspiring collaboration is just the beginning, as they plan to continue working together on similar impactful projects in the future.
KOICA Donates Medical Devices to St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College in Ethiopia
Through its Ethiopian office, the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has donated medical devices and instruments to the Department of Internal Medicine at St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College. This donation, part of a 6.3 million Ethiopian Birr project, aims to bolster the hospital's ability to provide high-quality care to patients, especially those suffering from respiratory conditions.
At a ceremony held today, KOICA’s Country Director in Ethiopia, Mr. Han Deog Cho, officially handed over the medical equipment to the hospital’s Provost, Dr. Sisay Sirgu. The donated medical devices include essential tools for diagnosing and treating lung diseases, marking a significant contribution to the healthcare sector in Ethiopia.
These medical devices are expected to directly enhance the hospital's capacity to deliver advanced medical care, particularly in the Internal Medicine department, where there is an increasing demand for respiratory treatments. The donation is part of KOICA’s broader initiative to support Ethiopia’s healthcare system and ensure improved health outcomes for its population.
