Extension for Application Deadline to different Fellowship programs
We would like to inform you that the application deadline for the  Fellowship Programs has been extended due to a lower  than expected number of applications received so far.
We recognize that potential applicants may have encountered challenges in preparing and submitting their applications within the initial timeframe. In light of this, we are pleased to offer additional time to ensure all interested and eligible candidates have the opportunity to apply.

Call for Gastroenterology & Hepatology fellowship application

Department of Internal Medicine, invites all qualified candidates to apply for Gastroenterology & Hepatology fellowship program for the academic year 2025/26 G.C.

Background information:

The Department of Internal Medicine, SPHMMC has started Gastroenterology & Hepatology fellowship program since 2015 G.C. It is a two-year program which intends to enable physicians to be: competent clinicians, researchers, advocates and leaders in Gastroenterology & Hepatology. The training will include clinical attachment, deductive trainings (lectures, seminars, case presentations, online lectures), research training and mentorship, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy skill learning, with possible abroad attachment depending on the availability of financial resources. The trainees will also attend international and local scientific conferences, supervise residents and undergraduate medical students. Fellows are expected to conduct high quality research in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology as part of completion of their fellowship. At the end of two years candidates will receive subspeciality certificate in Gastroenterology & hepatology. The department is delighted to announce the intake of the seventh batch.

Admission requirements:

1. Candidates should be graduates from a recognized medical school with a Doctor of Medicine and specialty in Internal Medicine.
2. The candidate should be registered and licensed to practice in Internal Medicine by relevant authority in Ethiopia and worked at least two years.
3. The candidate should write his/her letter of intent in 1-2 pages and should submit two letters of recommendation from their institution.
4. The candidate should bring sponsorship letter from his/her institution.
5. The candidate must be in a good physical and mental health.
6. Should have passed the most recent national graduate admission test (GAT) examination.

All interested applicants can submit their application letter, CV, credentials and their recommendation letters to the department of Internal medicine @SPHMMC in person or attach the documents on the following email address: gastrohep@sphmmc.edu.et from date of announcement until August 18, 2025.
Entrance exam (written exam and interview) will be given in person at SPHMMC on September 16 and enrollment will begin on October 6, 2025.

ዓመታዊ የጤና ምርመራ ለምን አያደርጉም?
አመታዊ የጤና ምርመራ በተለያየ የዕድሜ ክልል ላይ ላሉ ሰዎች የሚደረግ እና ለአንድ በሽታ የመጋለጥ ዕድላቸውን ቀድሞ ለማወቅ የሚያስችል የምርመራ ዘዴ ነው።
እድሜ እና ፃታን መሠረት አድርገው በየአመቱ እና ከዛም በላይ ሊደረጉ የሚገቡ የምርመራ አይነቶች አሉ። እነዚህን ምርመራዎች መረዳት እና መቼ መጠየቅ እንዳለቦት ማወቅ ጤናማ ሆነው እንዲቆዩ ያግዝዎታል። እንደ ካንሰር ፤የልብ ህመም፤ስትሮክ ፤የኩላሊት ህመም፤የስኳር ህመም፤የደም ግፊት መጨመር እና አንዳንድ በቅድመ ጥንቃቄ ልንከላከላቸው የምንችላቸውን ህመሞች ለመቆጣጠር ቀደም ብሎ ማወቅ በጣም አስፈላጊ ነው።
ምን ዓይነት ምርመራዎችን ማድረግ አለብዎት?
ከ 18- 39 አመት የሞላቸዉ ሰዎች እነዝህን ምርመራዎች እንድያደርጉ ይመከራል፡-
 ክብደት እና ቁመት
 የደም ግፊት ልኬት
 የዓይን ምርመራ
 የጆሮ ምርመራ
 አጠቃላይ የደም ህዋሶች ምርመራ
 የኩላሊት አሰራር፣ የጉበት አሰራር ምርመራዎች፣የተለያዩ የደም ውስጥ ንጥረ ነገሮች ምርመራ
 በሰውነት ውስጥ ያለ የስብ መጠን ምርመራ
 የታይሮይድ ሆርሞን ምርመራ
 የስኳር በሽታ ምርመራ
 በደም ንክኪና በግብረ ሥጋ ግንኙነት የሚተላለፉ ኢንፌክሽኖች፡- ኤችአይቪ ፤ጨብጥ፣ቂጥኝ ወይም ሌሎች ኢንፌክሽኖችን ሊያካትት ይችላል።

 የልብ ምርመራ
 ለሴቶች ከ21 ዓመት ዕድሜ ወይም ግንኙነት ማድረግ ከተጀመረበት ከ3 ዓመታት ጀምሮ የማህፀን በር ካንሰር ምርመራ፡ በየ 3 አመቱ የፓፕ ስሚር ምርመራ ያደርጋል፡፡
 ከ 40 አመት በላይ የሆኑ ሰዎች ለተለያዩ በሽታዎች የመጋለጥ ዕድላቸዉ በጣም ስለ ምጨምር ከላይ ከተዘረዘሩት ምርመራዎች በተጨማሪ እነዝህን መመርመር አለባቸዉ፡-ኮሎኖስኮፒ፤ለሴቶች ደግሞ የማህፀን በር ካንሰር ምርመራ፤ማሞግራም(የጡት ካንሰር) እና በሰውነት ውስጥ ያለ የካልሲየም መጠን መቀነስ ወደ አጥንት መሳሳት ችግር ሊያመራ ስለ ምችል የአጥንት ምርመራ እድሜያቸው 65 እና ከዛ በላይ ለሆኑ ሴቶች ይመከራል፡፡
 ዕድሜያቸዉ ከ50 ዓመት በላይ የሆኑ ወንዶች የፕሮስቴት ዕጥ እና የፕሮስቴት ካንሰር ምርመራ በአልትራሳወንድና በደም ምርመራ ማድረግ አለባቸዉ፡፡
ማስታወሻ
ሁሉም ሰው ዓመታዊ የጤና ምርመራ የማድረግ ልማድ ሊኖረው ይገባል ምክንያቱም ዕድሜዎ እየገፋ ሲሄድ ጤናዎ ላይ ለውጥ ይኖራል፡፡ በተለያዩ የሕይወትዎ ደረጃዎች ውስጥ ለተለያዩ በሽታዎች የበለጠ ተጋላጭ ይሆናሉ። እነዚህም በርካታ የካንሰር ዓይነቶችን ፣ የደም ግፊት ፣ የስኳር በሽታ እና የደም ቧንቧ መጥበብ ችግሮችን ያጠቃልላል።
እንዲሁም የራስዎን እና የቤተሰብዎን መልካም ጤንነት ለመጠበቅ ይሄን ተግባር በህይወት ዘመንዎት በቁርጠኝነት ከሚያከናውኗቸው ተግባራት ውስጥ ማካተት አለብዎት። ታዲያ በዚህ ክረምት ለምን የጤና ምርመራ አያደርጉም?
