The other day I saw a three legged dog being taken for a walk near my house (that's the second three legged dog I've recently seen taken for a walk there). One of its front paws was missing and the way it had to jump with the remaining front paw looked rough.
It got me thinking. For a four legged animal, losing a back leg would probably be less impactful than losing a front one. It just seems to be further from the center of mass.
But for a human, who walks on just two of the four limbs (hello, scoliosis) and extensively uses the other two for object manipulation, what would be worse? Losing an arm or a leg?

What's worse? Losing an arm or a leg? Let's say above elbow, but below shoulder (above knee, but below hip) and the arm lost *isn't* the dominant one.

While we're on the subject, I think it'd be pretty cool to have 2/5 opposing fingers instead of just 1/5. I feel like it would make the hand more dexterous and it would certainly make it more resistant to failures. Because with just the opposing thumb, losing just 1 out of 5 fingers can significantly… handicap it.

Losing an arm is worse, because without it it's impossible to hold a cookie in one hand and take a picture with the other.

Amazing how after decades of advancements in wireless and cellular networking we have 100'000'000'000+ bit/second communication channels available for our portable phones, but phonecall audio quality is absolute dogshit.

"What's that that's attracting us to each other?
They say that every man grows up to marry his own mother.
Which would explain why you're such a motherfucking bitch
But I stay and still stick it out with you…"
