🗓 July 28 is the Day of the Baptism of Rus!
It is believed that in 988 Christianity was proclaimed the state religion of Rus by Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, the grandson of Grand Duchess Olga, who had previously been baptized in Constantinople and instilled in him her love and respect for the Christian faith.
This landmark historical event had a significant impact on the social, spiritual and cultural life of the Slavic peoples and the strengthening of the young Russian statehood in the era of feudalism. The Orthodox Church has contributed to the unification of the Slavs and their familiarization with the heritage of the Byzantine Empire, as well as to the dissemination of education and the creation of valuable works of art and literature.
☝️ Russia strictly condemns the ongoing Russophobic campaign, the systemic violations against the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the largest Christian church with over 6 million parishioners, and continued persecution of its clergy, as well as constant attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces against civilian infrastructure facilities, including Orthodox Churches.

🗓 28 июля в Претории состоялось открытие III Российско-африканской конференции Международного дискуссионного клуба «Валдай» и Южноафриканского института международных отношений на тему «Realpolitik в расколотом мире: переосмысление связей между Россией и Южной Африкой в глобальном и африканском контексте».
Участие в дискуссии, которая продлится весь день, примут более двадцати экспертов в области международных отношений, политологии, экономики и др.
В рамках мероприятии запланированы четыре тематические сессии:
🔹 «Группа двадцати» и #БРИКС: оценка стратегических ролей в меняющемся глобальном порядке.
🔹 Гуманитарное сотрудничество и роль исторической памяти в отношениях России с ЮАР и другими африканскими странами.

Мы считаем, что Африка — это не арена очередной геополитической схватки, а пространство взаимовыгодного сотрудничества».

🗓 On July 28, the 3rd Russia–Africa Conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club and the South African Institute of International Affairs opened in Pretoria under the theme "Realpolitik Responses in a Fractured World: Rethinking Russia-South Africa Ties in global and African Context."
Over twenty experts in international relations, political science, economics, and other fields are taking part in the full-day discussion.
The event features four thematic sessions:

"Conceptually, today's event goes very much in line with the provisions of the Action Plan, approved at the highest level by the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, and with the BRICS Summit Kazan Declaration.
In a nutshell, Russia's official position is clear and simple: Moscow considers South Africa and other African countries as its natural allies, and is ready to “contribute to the further development of Africa as an authentic and influential centre of global development.
☝️ We believe that Africa is not an arena for yet another geopolitical scramble, but a space of mutually beneficial cooperation.
However, some external forces from both sides of the Atlantic seem to be troubled by how Russia-Africa relations have been recently developing in the bilateral and multilateral domains.
In our turbulent times, such in-person gatherings of professionals are especially important to debate timely and challenging questions".

🔹 On July 28–29, the Fourth Employment Working Group Meeting will take place in George, followed by the Ministerial Meeting on the same topic on July 30–31. A declaration is expected to be adopted as a result. The Russian delegation will include representatives from the Ministry of Labour.
🔹 On July 28–29, the Third Culture Working Group Meeting will be held in Cape Town. Russia will be represented by a delegate from the Ministry of Culture.
🔹 On July 28–29, the Labour 20 (#L20) Summit will take place in George. The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia will represent our country.

🕯 Across Russia, people honoured the memory of #Donbass children who fell victims of the Ukrainian Neo-Nazi regime.
Children's Rights Commissioners in the regions of Russia, along with members of youth councils, took part in remembrance events.
According to Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, flowers and soft toys were laid at memorials in the Donetsk People’s Republic and in the Kursk region. A moment of silence was observed at the memorial in one of the children’s parks in the Lugansk People’s Republic.
Children from the summer camps in Sevastopol and the Altai Republic made white doves by hand as a symbol of remembrance and sorrow. In the Republic of Bashkortostan, children floated paper boats and flower wreaths down the Belaya River.
The Office of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights is sharing photos sent from all across the country.

On July 25, 2025, the International Environmental Conference was held in Russia’s #Altai Republic.
💬 Prime Minister #Mishustin:
“For the study of Arctic natural processes, we have constructed an ice-resistant self-propelled platform named “North Pole.” This is a unique vessel, the only one of its kind in the world. It has enabled scientists to access high-latitude Arctic regions that were previously unreachable. The data collected is now crucial for improving navigation along the Northern Sea Route – a key transport artery and logistics corridor.”
Research in #Antarctica is also advancing, Mishustin underscored.
“Last year, we inaugurated a new year-round research complex called “Vostok”.
Located in the heart of the continent and built in under five years, the facility spans nearly 3,000 square metres, with scientific labs, residential areas, energy systems, and technical units.”
