❗️🇷🇺 Russia has never been a colonizing country, but it supported Africa in its struggle to throw off the shackles of the West, Congolese foreign minister says

The relationship with the #West is the legacy of a tragic history: slavery and then colonization, but Russia has never been a slave-owning country, Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Claude Gakosso told @Sputnik_africa on the sidelines of the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Russia's Sochi.

"Very early on, Russia, the Soviet Union, took a stand against this phenomenon [of colonization], giving powerful support to African countries, as I was just saying. And in the same way that we trade with our neighboring country - which is China: your neighboring country - this same type of relationship is what we have developed with Russia. A win-win relationship, based on mutual respect, not one where you look down on your partner," the minister stated.

🇷🇺🌍 Russia Offers Raw Materials Partnerships to Africa at #Russia-#Africa Forum

At the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi, Alexander Kozlov, Head of Russia’s Ministry of Natural Resources, announced that Russia is seeking to expand raw materials cooperation with African nations, especially in the field of subsoil use.

Kozlov highlighted Russia's vast reserves of key minerals, including gas, diamonds, nickel, cobalt, gold, platinum, and more. He noted that Russia leads the world in several resources and ranks in the top three globally for coal, oil, copper, and rare earth metals.

☝️ With strong expertise in geological exploration and resource development, Russia is well-positioned to collaborate with Africa, a continent rich in critical mineral reserves.

"Our countries have a shared history of cooperation dating back to the Soviet era, and today, there is immense potential for growth," Kozlov said. He pointed out that Russian specialists have been instrumental in helping unlock Africa’s resource potential, with ongoing projects in countries like Benin, Sudan, Djibouti, Angola, and others.

Kozlov also proposed the idea of Raw Materials Alliances, which would help regulate global markets. Additionally, he mentioned the Geological Platform project, developed in collaboration with #BRICS nations, as a framework to formalize and expand these alliances.

🤝 The potential for mutually beneficial partnerships between #Russia and #Africa is greater than ever, with both sides aiming to harness the full potential of the continent’s rich mineral resources.
