⚡️President of Russia Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the situation in the global oil and gas market (March 9, 2026):
Key takeaways:
▫️Russia warned that attempts to destabilise the Middle East would threaten the global energy market, drive up oil and gas prices, restrict supplies, and disrupt long-term investment. This is now unfolding.
▫️Disruptions to hydrocarbon transportation routes, including the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, are creating serious logistical problems and negatively affecting global production chains, inflation, and international economic relations.
▫️Around a third of the world’s seaborne oil exports pass through the Strait of Hormuz. With this route effectively closed, oil production linked to it risks halting within a month while regional storage facilities are filling up.
❗️As a result, global oil prices have surged by more than 30% in a week, while gas supplies from the Middle East have sharply declined, pushing gas prices even higher.
▫️Competition between buyers for reliable energy supplies is intensifying. Russia emphasises that its energy companies have always been known for stability and reliability.
▫️Russia will continue supplying oil and gas to reliable partners, including countries in the Asia-Pacific region and Eastern Europe such as Slovakia and Hungary. Supplies to several regions are already increasing.
▫️At the same time, Russia is assessing the possibility of redirecting energy exports from Europe to more promising markets amid planned EU restrictions on Russian hydrocarbons.
▫️The government and energy companies will coordinate efforts to adapt to the evolving global energy landscape and the emerging new price reality.

⚡️Comment by Aide to the President of Russia Yuri Ushakov following the telephone conversation between President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump (March 9, 2026):
Yuri Ushakov: On March 9, a telephone conversation took place between the Presidents of Russia and the United States.
Donald Trump called Vladimir Putin to discuss a number of extremely important issues related to current international developments. Naturally, the focus was on the situation surrounding the conflict with Iran and on the ongoing trilateral negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement involving representatives of the United States.
Let me say right away that the conversation was businesslike, frank, and constructive in nature, as is usually the case in dialogue between the Russian and American leaders. They had not spoken by phone for quite some time, the last call was at the end of December 2025. Today’s conversation, by the way, lasted about an hour. The U.S. President noted that, as previously agreed, such communication should certainly take place on a regular basis, and both leaders stated that they are ready for this.
The President of Russia shared a number of considerations aimed at achieving a prompt political and diplomatic settlement of the Iranian conflict, including taking into account contacts held with the leaders of the Persian Gulf countries, the President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, and the leaders of several other states.
For his part, the U.S. President presented his assessment of the situation in the context of the ongoing U.S.–Israeli operation. I would note that a very substantive and, I believe, useful exchange of views took place on this matter.
☝️ President Trump once again expressed interest in bringing the conflict in Ukraine to a swift end by reaching a ceasefire as a step toward a long-term settlement.
From our side, a positive assessment was given of the mediation efforts undertaken by Donald Trump’s team and by him personally.
An overview was also provided of the current situation along the line of combat contact, where Russian troops are advancing quite successfully. As noted, this is a factor that should prompt the authorities in Kiev to finally move toward a negotiated settlement of the conflict.
The presidents also touched upon the issue of Venezuela, primarily in the context of the situation on the global oil market.
Overall, I would reiterate that the conversation was highly substantive and will undoubtedly have practical significance for further cooperation between the two countries across various areas of international policy.

🇷🇺 ♻️ Rosatom showcases innovative technologies at Africa Energy Indaba in South Africa
On March 5, 2026, in Cape Town, South Africa, representatives of African nuclear industries, as well as leading companies and organizations from the global nuclear market, gathered at the Nuclear Forum held on the sidelines of the Africa Energy Indaba to discuss key trends in nuclear technologies and share experience in implementing large international projects.
Ryan Collyer, CEO of the Rosatom Central and Southern Africa Regional Centre, highlighted the potential of floating power unit technology. Rosatom’s floating nuclear thermal power plant Akademik Lomonosov, currently in operation, supplies electricity to remote regions of Russia’s Far North and remains the world’s only operational floating nuclear power plant.
☝️Special attention was also given to the construction of modern large-capacity nuclear power plants, including Egypt’s El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant — the first nuclear facility in Africa being built by Rosatom.
Murad Aslanov, Head of Rosatom’s Country Office in Egypt, emphasized the importance of localization in the company’s strategy:
❗️Participants also stressed the strategic importance of nuclear energy for African countries. Amid energy shortages and the transition to low-carbon energy sources, nuclear power offers proven and safe technologies capable of ensuring reliable energy supply for decades, supporting industrial growth, long-term stability, and sustainable development.

“For energy-deficient regions, floating power units are a flexible and scalable solution. They combine mobility, stable electricity generation, and efficient resource use. In 2024, Rosatom announced the development of a technology adapted for tropical climates and tailored to the needs of African countries. Rosatom not only offers ready-made technologies but also provides training for local personnel to ensure the safe and efficient operation of reactors,” Collyer noted.

“Localization is central to Rosatom’s approach to building new nuclear power plants. At the El Dabaa NPP, we are steadily expanding the participation of Egyptian industry, focusing on developing local production and human resources, while ensuring systematic technology and expertise transfer. Our goal is to create sustainable added value that goes beyond electricity generation. As a global nuclear energy leader, Rosatom takes responsibility for high-quality project implementation, strengthening local supply chains, developing national competencies, and contributing to the long-term socio-economic progress of the countries where we operate.”

🇷🇺 On 10 March 2026, President of Russia Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Head of Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin.
At the beginning of the conversation, Vladimir Putin noted that even in the Soviet Union, the Donetsk Region – now the Donetsk People’s Republic – was considered to be one of the most developed and largest industrial and infrastructurally advanced regions of the USSR, both in terms of industry and agriculture.
❗️The President also remarked that colossal damage had been inflicted in recent years, but recovery is progressing at a fairly rapid pace, and under the leadership of Denis Pushilin’s team, there is clear forward movement and progress.
Denis Pushilin thanked the President for the high praise and confirmed that everything is being done in the republic to restore its former glory and contribute to the benefit of the entire country, emphasising that the DPR is supported by entire Russia.
One of the most challenging and sensitive issues, according to Denis Pushilin, is water supply. Many measures have already been taken to address this, with efforts focused on stabilising the situation, including reducing water losses. Currently, 223 emergency teams are operational, of which 117 are from sponsor regions.
☝️Moscow is contributing the most to Donetsk, with a total of 700 specialists from various regions engaged.
Last year, 126 kilometres of pipelines were replaced, and this year, another 165 kilometres are planned for replacement. With federal assistance, water conduits for internal redistribution have been constructed, and underground sources are being utilised. Following a snowy winter, reservoirs are filling up.
Another complex issue is the work in liberated territories. People need passports, documents, pensions, benefits, and lump sum payments.
The discussion also touched upon supplying power to the households, the mass transit system, equipping medical institutions with high-tech equipment, training specialists at Donetsk Medical University, and rebuilding roads.
📈According to the 2022 assessment, no more than 14 percent of federal, regional and inter-urban roads were up to standard. To date, 2,500 kilometres of roads have been built or brought up to code, and another 3,500 kilometres will have been built by 2030. Thirty-six artificial structures have been built. A domestic production base is being created with localisation in the road sector standing at 85 percent, including crushed stone, sand, and cement.
At the request of the President, Denis Pushilin discussed the creation of a ring road around the Sea of Azov. The Donetsk People's Republic is completing its part of the project ahead of schedule: last year, the plan included 450 kilometres, but over 800 kilometres have been built in the end.
The head of the republic also spoke about the SMO Zemsky Veteran programme. Many of those who fought for the DPR, shed their blood and were wounded are thinking about staying in the republic and have a sense that they have become part of that land. The programme provides for the allocation of land plots of up to 15 sotkas (0.15 hectare) and mortgage loans at 2 percent and includes building a house and other support tools.
The President said the size of the land plots could be increased.

⚡️Comment by Russian MFA Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on the developments around Iran (10 March 2026):
The conflict in the Middle East continues to expand, directly or indirectly affecting the interests of an increasing number of states and their civilian populations. This is evidenced, in particular, by the fact that foreign diplomatic missions and consular establishments located in the region are also coming under attack. Their number continues to grow.
On March 8, in the Iranian city of Isfahan, the Consulate General of Russia sustained damage as a result of an attack on the nearby administration of the governor of the province of the same name. Windows were shattered in the office building and residential apartments, and several staff members were thrown by the blast wave.
☝️Fortunately, there were no fatalities or serious injuries.
We regard attacks on diplomatic and consular missions as a flagrant violation of such fundamental instruments of international law as the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963.
❗️We demand that all parties strictly observe the inviolability of diplomatic premises and refrain from any encroachments on the security, life and health of their personnel.
We call on the parties to the conflict to immediately put an end to the military confrontation and return to the negotiating table.

❗️Key takeaways from Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov's statements at the "Modern Media: Technologies, Meanings, Personnel" conference at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (11 March 2026):
Attack on Bryansk:
▫️Russia’s special military operation must continue and conclude successfully “to eliminate the danger of such actions and manifestations by the Kiev regime,” specifically referring to Ukraine’s shelling of Bryansk;
▫️It is up to the Russian military to determine a response to the recent Ukrainian strikes on the city of Bryansk;
▫️In contrast to the Ukrainian troops, the Russian army "is working systematically".
Ukrainian settlement:
▫️Russia welcomes the efforts of US leader Donald Trump to settle the situation in Ukraine and is grateful to him;
Contacts with Iran:
▫️While Russia has maintained dialogue with the Iranian leadership, a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian, could hardly take place any time soon for obvious reasons.
#G20 Summit:
▫️Russian President Vladimir Putin currently has no plans for personally attending the #G20 summit in Miami, the US, in December 2026.
Countering hostile social media:
▫️Russia is confronting hostile social networks across the #CIS and around the world;
▫️Moscow is now "rapidly losing the tools" for propaganda work abroad;
▫️We need to stop focusing on Telegram and start focusing on growing audiences on Max messenger.

⚡️ Russia's Foreign Ministry statement on the missile strike of the Ukrainian militants on Bryansk
On March 10, the neo-Nazi Kiev regime committed yet another heinous crime against the civilian population of Russia, carrying out a missile strike on Bryansk.
We strongly condemn this deliberately planned terrorist attack.
A busy business district in the city’s Sovetsky District came under targeted fire. The area is located near Bryansk State Engineering and Technology University, apartment buildings, commercial and industrial enterprises, catering establishments and children’s goods stores.
▪️ As a result of the attack, seven people were killed and 42 injured. One child, born in 2009, has been hospitalized in the regional children’s hospital.
The authorities are providing all necessary medical and other assistance and support. We extend our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.
According to available information, the strike was carried out using approximately seven British long-range Storm Shadow missiles. The head of the Kiev regime, Zelensky, has already publicly reported to his handlers about this barbaric act, calling it a “successful operation” by the AFU and cynically thanking the command for its execution.
As we have repeatedly pointed out, the use of high-tech Western weapons is impossible without the direct involvement of foreign specialists who ensure their operation and targeting, as well as without the provision of the necessary intelligence data by certain NATO countries.
❗️ Western handlers of Kiev bear full responsibility for the consequences of this strike, which resulted in civilian casualties.
It is obvious that, having completely lost itself in geopolitical games and seeking to assert itself as the informal leader of the European “hardliners” on the Ukrainian track and an irreconcilable opponent of Russia, Britain has stepped beyond the bounds of international law and is ready, through the hands of its puppets, to move the conflict to a fundamentally new level in terms of destruction and human casualties.
We also note that the use of British weapons systems is taking place amid intensified political and diplomatic efforts in the Russia-US-Ukraine trilateral format aimed at resolving the Ukrainian crisis.
The goal of London and other Western capitals is obvious – to derail the peace process through a large-scale provocation involving civilian casualties and trigger an escalation of hostilities. This tactic is not new and is used by the sponsors of the Kiev regime every time a real prospect for settlement emerges.
It is no coincidence that the timing of this attack coincides with signals from Washington, expressing hope that negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement have reached a “turning point” and that achieving peace is quite realistic.
☝️ We call on relevant international organisations – first and foremost the UN, whose leadership has been informed of the situation but has so far refrained from commenting – to provide an adequate assessment of yet another criminal act of the Kiev regime and its violation of the norms of international humanitarian law.
Silence will be perceived as nothing less than tacit complicity in the criminal actions of Zelensky and his handlers, who are intent on escalating the conflict.

💬 Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova:
The Kiev regime deliberately struck the civilian population in Bryansk. The UN Secretariat, which regularly comments on the situation surrounding the Ukrainian crisis, cannot pretend not to see this. Nor can it ignore the number of civilians killed and wounded.
Russia’s Permanent Mission will certainly bring this information to the attention of the UN as well. Will the Secretary-General and his representatives once again remain silent?

💬 Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik:
The tragedy in Bryansk can only be qualified as a serious violation of the norms and principles of international humanitarian law. The Kiev regime resorted to this act in an attempt to draw the attention of its European patrons, who have become increasingly distracted by developments in the Middle East.
A missile strike on a location with a large concentration of civilians cannot be justified under any circumstances. Responsibility lies not only with the Ukrainian militants who committed the atrocity, but above all with the political leadership of the Kiev regime. Such strikes are not carried out without direct instructions from the top leadership.
Zelensky’s heinous act cannot remain without universal condemnation and a military response.

💬 Russian Commissioner for Human Rights, Tatiana Moskalkova:
I condemn yet another vile crime of the Nazi regime – barbaric strikes against the civilian population of Bryansk.
The regional authorities are doing everything possible to provide prompt assistance to the victims. My deepest condolences go to the families and loved ones of those killed. I wish a speedy recovery to all those injured.
I call on international organizations to respond firmly to this inhumane crime committed by the Kiev regime against civilians.

🇷🇺🇴🇲 On March 11, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.
The ministers conducted a substantive exchange of views on the situation surrounding Iran with an emphasis on finding ways to bring about the swiftest possible end to the military confrontation caused by the United States and Israel’s unprovoked aggression.
They reiterated their position in favour of preventing escalation and immediately returning to a political and diplomatic settlement. The parties specifically emphasised the unacceptability of involving third countries, first and foremost the Gulf States, in the conflict which is fraught with the risk of wider military operations.
Sergey Lavrov highlighted Russia’s willingness to assist in identifying compromise-based peaceful solutions founded on respect for the principle of sovereignty and equality of all states, as well as other foundational norms of international law.
