On the creation of a free trade zone between the #EAEU and Indonesia

On the sidelines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting in St. Petersburg, the #EAEU member states and #Indonesia signed an agreement to establish a free trade zone.

Here’s what this means for Russian exporters:

▶️ a reduction (and eventual elimination) of Indonesia’s import customs duties on approximately 94% of product categories from EAEU countries;

▶️ simplification of regulatory procedures, including technical standards, sanitary regulations, and rules of origin;

▶️ diversification of trade and development of industrial cooperation.

In terms of industrial sectors, preferential market access will be provided for metal products, petroleum products, fertilizers, forest industry products, construction machinery & various types of equipment.

☝️Cooperation with #EAEU countries could also offer African partners preferential access to a large and growing market, reduced trade barriers, and simplified regulatory procedures.

🤩🩰 On the Christmas Day celebrated today by many in South Africa and Lesotho, we invite our subscribers to enjoy the magic of the Russian ballet “The Nutcracker”.

Created by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, “The Nutcracker” has become a timeless symbol of Christmas, magical transformation, and the eternal renewal of life. Adapted from E.T.A. Hoffmann’s “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King”, the ballet premiered in 1892 at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.

Though the original production was not an immediate success, Tchaikovsky’s brilliant suite soon captured hearts around the world, including South Africa!

From its first performances outside Russia in England in 1934 to George Balanchine’s iconic 1954 staging in New York, “The Nutcracker” has grown into a beloved global Christmas tradition.

Take a moment this festive season to enjoy the 1977 Bolshoi Theatre production of “The Nutcracker” online.

Wishing you a joyful and magical Christmas filled with music, beauty, and wonder!

☃️❄️ If you’re in #Moscow this December, don’t miss the XI “Iced Moscow” Winter Festival

Held at Victory Park (Poklonnaya Hill), the festival transforms the city into a spectacular ice kingdom with giant ice sculptures, family attractions, theatre shows, and interactive adventures for all ages.

This year’s theme is “Buratino” – a beloved fairy tale familiar to generations in Russia (similar to Pinocchio). The festival draws inspiration from the classic story, a popular musical film, and a new movie adaptation.

Highlights include a massive ice Kremlin sculpture with six ice slides for kids & adults, dozens of new ice art installations by artists from Russia and foreign countries, photo spots, daily fairy-tale parades, and much more.

There are also live “Buratino” stage performances three times daily, traditional fairground rides, and ice-sculpting workshops (advance booking required).

🤩 A magical winter experience, especially fascinating for visitors from warmer climates like South Africa!

💬 Maria Zakharova: On December 17 in Maputo (#Mozambique) and December 18 in Lusaka (#Zambia), official ceremonies marking the delivery of Russian food assistance were held, attended by the Russian Ambassadors to these countries.

🇲🇿 Mozambique received 70 tonnes of vitamin-fortified sunflower oil for those in need.
🇿🇲 Zambia received a similar shipment of 93 tonnes, as well as 648 tonnes of yellow split peas.

These humanitarian deliveries were carried out through the UN World Food Programme, funded by Russia’s voluntary contribution for African countries, which amounts to USD 10 million annually.

Humanitarian assistance is an integral part of Russia’s support for its partners on the African continent, primarily aimed at helping the most vulnerable groups.

🇷🇺 Russia will continue to contribute to addressing Africa’s socio-economic challenges, using both bilateral assistance mechanisms and the potential of relevant international organizations.
