🗓 On July 31, a meeting of the Civil 20 (#C20), the official #G20 engagement group, was held via videoconference.
The meeting was attended by Russia’s Sherpa to the C20, President of the International Public Organization for Economic and Social Development (MOES), Dmitry Stasyulis; South Africa’s Sherpa to the C20, Mr. Mabalane Mfundisi; as well as coordinators and co-coordinators of C20 working groups from other countries.
The aim of the meeting was to work on the final C20 Memorandum, which will be presented to G20 leaders at the summit in Johannesburg in November.
👉 On behalf of the “Trade, Financial Architecture and Sustainable Development” group, which he co-coordinates, Dmitry Stasyulis contributed key proposals to the final document:
• Adapt the WTO to modern realities, restore the dispute resolution mechanism, and promote a stronger voice for the Global Majority within the organization.
• Ensure fair distribution of voting rights and quotas in the IMF and WTO that reflect the real economic weight of member countries. Establish an effective mechanism for oversight and distribution of financial resources to support development across all participating states.
• Reject the policy of unilateral sanctions in trade and finance, which undermine the stability of global markets. It is essential to acknowledge that, under international law, sanctions may only be imposed with the approval of the UN Security Council.
• Support the development of the Greater Eurasian Partnership—a Russian initiative and platform for aligning the efforts of the EAEU, SCO, and ASEAN, open to new participants and projects.
• Defend traditional values and the institution of the traditional family as the foundation for healthy social relations, trust, and mutual respect among nations.
• Preserve historical memory and counter the revision of the outcomes of World War II and the distortion of history. It is crucial to prevent the re-glorification of Nazism.
💬 Dmitry Stasyulis emphasized:
He also noted that support for the civilizational initiative of the Greater Eurasian Partnership by G20 participants is a vital step toward stability in international relations within the global region and could become a new vector for effective cooperation in a multipolar world.
Discussions within the civil track will continue at the “New Era – New Paths” forum in Moscow during an open session of the Civil 20 on August 21.

"Now, as a new world order is being shaped, the voice of civil society is especially important and valuable. We are putting forward positions that are essential for building a just and equitable future for all countries and peoples. These are not just loud statements from high platforms — this is concrete work we are doing with our colleagues along the civil track."

«What interested me most about this project is that South Africa and Russia can establish cooperation that will move our countries forward in many areas: from social development to social programs and policies that can change the face of the economy for young people and the world at large. South Africa and Russia have a very, very strong historical foundation. And what Putin is doing is creating a great cultural exchange between the youth of Russia and the global south, and the world at large. I truly believe that this is a wonderful initiative that can make the world a better place».
