🇷🇺 On January 12, Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov on Russia's industrial performance indicators in 2025.

Key points:

Growth in the manufacturing sector in 2025 remained positive. Russia concluded the year with growth of around 3%, with final figures expected in February following the publication of official statistics. Performance varied significantly by industry: pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and electronics posted growth exceeding 15%, while the chemical sector, including mineral fertilizers, recorded growth of more than 6%.

Investment activity in manufacturing remained strong despite challenging economic conditions. During the first three quarters of 2025, investment in the sector increased by 23%, reaching approximately 5 trillion rubles. This growth was driven by coordinated government and business efforts under national projects, supported by special investment contracts, concessional loans from the Industrial Development Fund, R&D support measures, and interest-rate subsidies.

Exports of competitive Russian goods continued to expand. Over the first ten months of 2025, exports grew by 18%. The share of supplies to friendly countries reached 80%, compared with approximately 60% prior to 2022, reflecting enterprises’ successful adaptation to new markets and the reorientation of trade flows.

Enterprises of the defence industry fulfilled all state defence orders. Production volumes of weapons and military equipment tailored to the needs of the special military operation increased substantially, in some areas by several times. Labour productivity at defence industry enterprises continued to rise, driven by large-scale technical modernization under the state programme and significant federal budget investments over the past three years.

In 2025, more than 1,000 new and upgraded types of military equipment underwent frontline testing. Interest in Russian military products on foreign markets remains high, particularly in air defence systems, aircraft, multiple launch rocket systems, unmanned platforms, and electronic warfare technologies. The export order portfolio reached a record $70 billion, compared with a pre-2022 peak of $55 billion.

Diversification of defence industry output continued to advance. Civilian production at defence enterprises grew by an average of 10% annually over the past three years. By the end of 2025, civilian output exceeded 30% of total production, particularly in rail transport, construction and road machinery, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics, and telecommunications equipment.

The rocket and space industry also showed positive momentum. In 2025, revenues of space industry enterprises increased by 10%, accompanied by growth in average wages and labour productivity. The year saw 17 space launches. The national satellite constellation expanded from 288 to 300 spacecraft, while 5 billion rubles were allocated in the federal budget to launch a new Earth remote sensing services framework starting in 2026.

🎙Comment by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Russian Press Day (January 13, 2026)

💬January 13 marks #RussianPressDay.

On that day in 1703, the first issue of the newspaper founded by Peter the Great, Vedomosti (Bulletin) on Military and Other Affairs Worthy of Being Known and Remembered, Occurring in the Moscow State and Neighbouring Countries, saw the light of day. This landmark event marked the beginning of Russian journalism and the rich history of the Russian media, which includes many examples of selfless service to profession and unblemished commitment to the truth and the ideals of education and progress.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all journalists, military correspondents, cameramen, photojournalists, editors, proof-readers, designers, layout specialists, and other media professionals.

☝️The Russian school of journalism is based on the high standards of integrity, honesty and objectivity, as well as readiness to take risks to fulfil one’s duty. Erudition, wide-ranging knowledge, analytical thinking and creative talent have always been the hallmark of Russian media professionals recognised around the world.

The essence of this difficult but honourable profession has not changed throughout the more than 300-year-long history of the Russian press, from the deafening noise of the printing press to the lightning click in the modern digital reality.

The noble mission of the members of the press is to chronicle the age and record the course of history while acting as the voice and moral yardstick of society.

❗️Working in conditions of the collective West’s hybrid aggression against Russia and its people, Russian journalists are among the first to explode and lay bare the lies and fake stories about Russia spread on a large scale, and to raise an effective shield against anti-Russia propaganda.

Despite the obstacles of censorship created by our enemies, Russian journalists have overcome information blockades and have even increased the audience of their loyal readers, viewers and listeners, including in the countries with the most intolerant attitude to any manifestation of dissent. Russian journalists working abroad often come under colossal pressure by the authorities of the host countries with unfriendly regimes.

Many of them have come against horrible manifestations of Russophobia and discrimination, various forms of politically driven harassment, violence and even threats to their lives and health.

#MartyrsForTruth: Dozens of journalists and military correspondents have paid an unacceptably high price for their beliefs, falling in the targeted attacks by the neo-Nazi members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the front line or by the subversive agents of the Kiev regime far away from the line of contact.

🕯 We will never forget them.

The perpetrators of these bloody crimes and terrorist attacks, their commanders, and the Western patrons of the crimes committed by Zelensky’s regime will not escape responsibility for these and other crimes against civilians, including journalists who are recognised as civilians under international law.

The concerned international organisations’ deliberate suppression of the harassment of dissenters will not help either.

While working for justice to prevail and to perpetuate the memory of all journalists who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, we will do our utmost to bring a just and unavoidable punishment to the culprits.

🤝 We wish the entire Russian professional community of journalists continued success, creative inspiration, good health, and prosperity.

🎙Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's answer to a media question on the situation in Iran (January 13, 2026)

Question: For over a fortnight, anti-government demonstrations in Iran have persisted, escalating into unrest. Could you comment on the current situation in the country?

💬 Maria Zakharova: The unlawful sanctions pressure exerted by the West, to which the Islamic Republic of Iran has been subjected for many years, has hampered the country’s development and generated economic and social challenges, primarily affecting ordinary Iranians.

Hostile external forces are seeking to exploit rising public tensions in order to destabilise and undermine the Iranian state.

The notorious methods of so-called colour revolutions are being employed, whereby peaceful protests are transformed – through the actions of provocateurs trained and armed abroad – into brutal and senseless violence, including riots, the killing of law-enforcement officers and civilians, and even children.

❗️ We unequivocally condemn subversive external interference in Iran’s internal political processes.

It is particularly noteworthy that the Iranian authorities have demonstrated readiness for constructive dialogue with society to identify effective ways of mitigating the adverse socioeconomic consequences of the West’s hostile policies.

Threats emanating from Washington regarding further military strikes against the Islamic Republic are categorically unacceptable. Those who contemplate exploiting externally instigated unrest as a pretext to repeat aggression against Iran, as witnessed in June 2025, must fully realize the grave consequences such actions would entail for the Middle East and for global international security.

❗️ We also firmly reject the brazen attempts to pressure Iran’s foreign partners through the imposition of increased trade tariffs.

The evolving dynamics of Iran’s domestic political situation, together with the recent decline in artificially fuelled protests, provide grounds for cautious optimism regarding a gradual stabilization. The thousands-strong marches by Iranians in support of the country’s sovereignty testify to the failure of the sinister designs of those who resent the existence of states capable of pursuing an independent foreign policy and freely choosing their own allies on the international stage.

We remain in close contact with our diplomatic missions in Iran. They are operating as usual and maintain constant communication with Russian nationals residing in the country. 👉 We advise them to exercise reasonable caution: refrain from visiting crowded areas, avoid photography and videography, and strictly follow the instructions of law-enforcement bodies and special services.

🎙 Statement by Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a joint press conference with Minister of International Relations and Trade of the Republic of Namibia Selma Ashipala-Musavyi (January 14, 2026, Moscow)

Read in full

💬 Sergey Lavrov: We reaffirmed that the friendly ties between Moscow and Windhoek are developing steadily and rest on the principles traditional for our relations – equality, solidarity, mutual respect and support.

We highly value the fact that our Namibian friends remember well the assistance provided by the Soviet Union during the struggle against colonialism and in laying the foundations of statehood.

We welcomed the intention of Namibia’s new leadership, personally President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, to deepen ties with Russia. We spoke in favour of expanding dialogue, including at the highest and high levels. We are certainly interested in resuming the practice of regular foreign-policy consultations.

🤝 We highly assessed inter-party cooperation. In February 2024, the South West Africa People’s Organization (SWAPO) supported the initiative of the political party United Russia to establish the Forum of Supporters of the Fight against Modern Practices of Neocolonialism. By decision of the UN General Assembly, December 14 each year will be marked as the International Day against Colonialism in All Its Forms and Manifestations.

We consider this a fundamentally important decision, as after African friends gained political independence, economic dependence on the West persisted. In recent years, we have even observed this dependence deepening. Therefore, what we call the “second awakening of Africa” is a highly relevant issue on the international agenda.

📈 We agreed to make additional efforts to intensify trade and economic cooperation.

Another area with clear prospects and solid groundwork already in place is healthcare. Training of personnel has traditionally been an integral part of our cooperation. Many thousands of Namibians have received education in Russia or the USSR. This practice continues today. Tourism is another sphere with evident potential.

We reaffirmed our readiness to continue assisting our Namibian friends on international platforms, including through the provision of humanitarian assistance via the UN World Food Programme.

We share a common view on the success of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, established at the initiative of the heads of state of Russia and African countries, and note identical or very close positions on most, if not all, items of the international and regional agenda.

We underscored the need to improve the UN’s working methods, including the Security Council refor. We consistently support Africa’s fair demands to increase its representation in the Security Council.

We expressed gratitude to our Namibian friends for supporting all initiatives promoted by Russia at the UN, including those of particular importance in today’s international environment – the inadmissibility of the glorification of Nazism, countering neocolonial practices, cooperation in information security, ensuring the peaceful use of outer space, as well as disarmament initiatives.

Special attention was paid to African issues, including the situation in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and developments in the Saharo-Sahel region.

🌍 We consistently advance the concept that solutions to African problems should be sought by African countries themselves. External actors must respect the approaches developed by Africans and provide possible assistance in their practical implementation.

🎙 Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's statement regarding another series of terrorist attacks on tankers in the Black Sea (January 14, 2025)

💬 On January 13, oil tankers chartered to transport Kazakh oil to foreign consumers were attacked by Ukrainian drones in the Black Sea near the maritime terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).

We resolutely condemn yet another terrorist attack by the Kiev regime against commercial civilian vessels that were fully complying with all norms of international law.

We regard this barbaric assault as further proof that the Kiev authorities not only disregard global energy stability, but also show blatant contempt for the interests of Kazakhstan – a country with which they allegedly seek to develop relations – as well as for those of their American partners, who are the largest shareholders of the CPC.

In this regard, we fully understand and share the serious concern expressed over these attacks in the statement by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan on January 14.

❗️ We fully align ourselves with the view of our allies on the need to take effective measures to ensure the security of hydrocarbon transportation, which, in our view, should bring the criminal Kiev regime to reason.

We also support Astana’s stance on the need for joint steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
