⚡️ Head of the Russian Federation’s Delegation to the Russia–Ukraine direct talks, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Medinsky:
💬 On June 6, in full accordance with the Istanbul agreements, the Russian side launched a humanitarian initiative to transfer 6000 bodies of fallen Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel to Ukraine, and to exchange all wounded and severely ill prisoners of war, as well as those aged under 25.
The first group of 1212 bodies, transported in refrigerated vehicles, has arrived at the designated handover location. Other remains are currently en route.
Furthermore, the first list of 640 POWs, classified as wounded, seriously ill, and the youth, has been submitted to the Ukrainian side to begin the exchange process.
A contact group of the Russian Defence Ministry has arrived at the Ukrainian border.
However, the Ukrainian side has unexpectedly postponed both the repatriation of bodies and the prisoner exchange for an unspecified period.
Their negotiating group was nowhere to be found, they did not even appear, and the explanations provided have been inconsistent and unclear.
❗️ We call on Kiev to strictly adhere to the schedule and agreements reached, and to start the exchange process right away.
As per our mutual agreement, 1200 soldiers and officers from each side should be given the opportunity to return home. We urge the Ukrainian side to collect the bodies of 6000 soldiers and officers so that they may be buried with dignity by their families.
We remain at the site, fully prepared to proceed.
International TV channels, news agencies and correspondents are welcome to arrive and assure themselves of the transparency of our actions.

💬 'The two categories are to be exchanged by 'Everyone-for-Everyone' formula. Those are the wounded and seriously ill persons as well as people under age of 25,' said Representative of the Russian negotiation group Lieutenant General Aleksandr Zorin.
📄 According to Aleksandr Zorin, Ukraine has not confirmed the exchange today and has postponed it for an undetermined period. He also shared that: 'Russia provided Ukraine with a list of 640 surnames. Nonetheless, the Kiev refrains from setting a date for the return of these persons and the transfer to Russia an appropriate number of POWs.'

'As for now, the first convoy to repatriate the bodies of the servicemen has arrived in the area. It comprises 1,212 bodies. Three more echelons are expected to be sent back home. Each of them have 1,200 bodies. And there is a motor echelon. It will also deliver 1,200 bodies. The total number will be 6,000 people,' specified he.
'I confirm, we are ready to fulfil the agreements, reached in Istanbul. We are ready to hand over all the bodies, and conduct a POW exchange according to the determined format,' concluded Aleksandr Zorin.

💬 We express our profound concern regarding the dangerous escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
❗️ We strongly condemn the military actions undertaken by the State of Israel on the night of June 13, which constitute a clear violation of the UN Charter as well as established principles of international law.
Unprovoked military strikes against a sovereign member state of the United Nations, against its citizens, peaceful cities, and critical nuclear energy infrastructure facilities, are totally unacceptable. The international community must not ignore such acts, which not only jeopardise peace but also undermine security both in the region and globally.
The timing of these attacks appears to be particularly cynical as they have occurred amidst a session of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and just ahead of the next round of indirect talks between representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States. These actions have drastically undermined the progress of painstaking multilateral diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and seeking solutions to eliminate suspicions and the bias surrounding Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme.
It is evident that West Jerusalem has made a deliberate decision to further escalate the situation and raise stakes. We have warned on numerous occasions about the destabilising effects of military ventures that threaten peace and security in the region. The full responsibility for the consequences of these provocative acts lies with the Israeli leadership.
We are closely monitoring the actions by the IAEA, which carries significant responsibility in this challenging situation. IAEA personnel, alongside citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, have also been exposed to Israeli strikes. We expect the IAEA Director General to provide balanced and objective assessments of the current developments – in particular, a comprehensive analysis of the potential radiological consequences of the attacks on nuclear facilities in Iran.
We also hope that the Western countries, which provoked the recent wave of anti-Iran hysteria at the IAEA Board of Governors, once again pushing through a short-term resolution tailored to suit their political preferences and entrenched phobias, despite its lack of broad international support, will come to realise the dangerous consequences of their destructive approach as well as the degree of responsibility they bear for the unfolding tragedy.
☝️ We strongly believe that, regardless of any justifications that may be offered by those who planned, developed, and carried out the attacks, the issue of the Iranian nuclear programme cannot and must not be resolved by military means. A sustainable settlement is only possible through peaceful, political, and diplomatic efforts.
We sincerely hope that this understanding will ultimately prevail. We call on the parties to exercise restraint to avoid further escalation and prevent a full-scale war in the region.
In this context, we note that the US is ready to hold another round of talks with Iran on the latter’s nuclear programme in Oman.

💬 During the Session, a wide range of issues on the international human rights agenda will be addressed. They include:
🌐 In addition, the Session will address human rights situations in the following countries: Afghanistan, Belarus, Burundi, Colombia, DR Congo, Eritrea, Nicaragua, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela, and the Central African Republic.

🇺🇳 Меня всегда глубоко интересовала деятельность ООН, её огромная международная роль в укреплении мира, содействии развитию и решении задач, которые стоят перед всем человечеством. Несмотря на драматические события, происходящие на наших глазах каждый день, несмотря на всю турбулентность современного мира, именно ООН, как мне кажется, остаётся тем единственным международным институтом, на который по-прежнему возлагаются надежды. У неё есть полномочия, есть мандат, есть возможности действовать.
🎥 Буквально две недели назад мы записали специальный фильм с заместителем Генерального секретаря ООН, г-ном Мигелем Моратинесом, который является высоким представителем Альянса цивилизаций. В рамках интервью мы провели несколько часов в беседе о том, что может и должна делать ООН сегодня, чтобы наш мир стал хоть немного спокойнее, стабильнее, свободнее от конфликтов.

❗️ Российская Федерация выражает серьёзную обеспокоенность в связи с опасной эскалацией напряженности на Ближнем Востоке, которая может самым негативным образом сказаться на деятельности нашего форума.
❌ Осуждаем силовую акцию Государства Израиль против Исламской Республики Иран, начатую в ночь на 13 июня в нарушение Устава ООН и норм международного права. Убеждены, что целенаправленные удары по гражданским объектам суверенного государства, в т.ч. по объектам мирной ядерной инфраструктуры, не могут иметь никаких оправданий. Международное сообщество не может и не должно оставаться безучастным к подобным действиям.
🚨 Последние события красноречиво доказывают, что в Западном Иерусалиме сделан сознательный выбор в пользу дальнейшей эскалации напряженности. Российская сторона неоднократно предупреждала о контрпродуктивности и пагубности подобных военных авантюр, не только создающих прямую угрозу для стабильности и безопасности в регионе, но и чреватых масштабной ядерной катастрофой.
☢️ Особую озабоченность у нас вызывает тот факт, что израильские атаки были произведены в разгар сессии Совета управляющих МАГАТЭ, на которой рассматривался вопрос о ядерной программе Ирана, и накануне очередного раунда непрямых контактов между представителями Ирана и США по данной теме.
📉 К сожалению, вопреки нашим и ряда других государств конструктивным усилиям, ситуация развивается теперь по самому негативному и непредсказуемому сценарию, способному иметь тяжелейшие последствия не только для региона Ближнего Востока, но и для всего мира. Сейчас, как никогда раньше, международное сообщество должно дать недвусмысленную правовую и политическую оценку действиям Израиля, а также поддержать все дипломатические усилия, направленные на снижение градуса конфронтации и возвращение к переговорам.
🕊 Настойчиво призываем стороны к сдержанности с тем, чтобы не допустить последующего ухудшения ситуации, обострения конфронтации и скатывания к полномасштабной войне.

❗️ The Russian Federation expresses its serious concern over the dangerous escalation of tensions in the Middle East, which could have the most adverse impact on the activities of our forum.
❌ We condemn the military actions undertaken by the State of Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran, launched on the night of June 13 in violation of the UN Charter and international law. We are convinced that targeted strikes against civilian objects of a sovereign State, including peaceful nuclear facilities, cannot be justified. The international community cannot and must not remain indifferent to such actions.
🚨 Recent events eloquently prove that a deliberate decision has been made by West Jerusalem in favour of further escalation of tensions. The Russian side has repeatedly warned of the counterproductive and harmful nature of such military adventures, which not only pose a direct threat to stability and security in the region, but are also fraught with a large-scale nuclear catastrophe.
☢️ We are particularly concerned that Israel carried out its attacks in the midst of a session of the IAEA Board of Governors on Iranian nuclear programme and just before another round of indirect contacts between Iranian and U.S. representatives on this topic.
📉 Unfortunately, despite constructive efforts of our country and those of some other States, the situation is now developing according to the most negative and unpredictable scenario, which could have dire consequences not only for the Middle East but also for the entire world. Now, more than ever, the international community must provide an unambiguous legal and political assessment of Israel’s actions, as well as support all diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing the degree of confrontation and returning to negotiations.
🕊 We urge the parties to exercise restraint in order to prevent further deterioration of the situation, and descent into a full-scale war.

⚡️ Russian Foreign Ministry Statement in connection with the escalation of the Iranian-Israeli conflict
The current escalation of the Iranian-Israeli conflict poses risks of further destabilisation across the region, particularly in the states neighbouring Israel and Iran.
The firm and unwavering response of the global majority to Israeli strikes on Iranian territory, including its nuclear energy infrastructure, alongside the outcomes of the UN Security Council’s emergency session on June 13 and the special session of the IAEA Board of Governors on June 16, underscores that the confrontational approach and destructive actions of the Israeli leadership receive understanding and support solely from those states which are de facto accomplices, motivated by opportunistic interests.
It was precisely these “sympathisers” who exerted pressure on the leadership of the Agency to prepare a controversial “comprehensive assessment” of Iran’s nuclear programme, the flaws of which were subsequently exploited to push through a biased anti-Iran resolution at the IAEA Board of Governors on June 12. This resolution effectively provided a green light to actions by West Jerusalem, leading to tragedy. Clearly, the attempts of the Western camp to manipulate the global nuclear non-proliferation regime in order to settle political scores with disfavoured nations come at a high cost to the international community and are entirely unacceptable.
Israel’s continued, intensive attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran are unlawful under international law, pose unacceptable threats to international security, and drive the world closer to a nuclear catastrophe – the consequences of which will be felt globally, including in Israel itself.
Russia calls on the Israeli leadership to reconsider its actions and immediately cease its raids on nuclear installations and sites under IAEA safeguards and subject to IAEA verification.
The Russian side expects the leadership of the Agency to promptly prepare a detailed written report for consideration by the IAEA Board of Governors and the UN Security Council. ❗️ Russia acknowledges Iran’s clear statements reaffirming its unwavering commitment to obligations under the NPT and its readiness to resume contacts with the United States to explore potential solutions that would dispel any unfounded suspicions and prejudices regarding Tehran’s nuclear programme – provided Israeli attacks cease. Moscow supports this stance and firmly maintains that a sustainable resolution can only be reliably achieved through diplomacy and negotiations.
The objectives of nuclear non-proliferation, the cornerstone of which remains the NPT, must not be pursued through aggression or at the cost of innocent lives.
The current escalation of the Iranian-Israeli conflict poses risks of further destabilisation across the region, particularly in the states neighbouring Israel and Iran.
The firm and unwavering response of the global majority to Israeli strikes on Iranian territory, including its nuclear energy infrastructure, alongside the outcomes of the UN Security Council’s emergency session on June 13 and the special session of the IAEA Board of Governors on June 16, underscores that the confrontational approach and destructive actions of the Israeli leadership receive understanding and support solely from those states which are de facto accomplices, motivated by opportunistic interests.
It was precisely these “sympathisers” who exerted pressure on the leadership of the Agency to prepare a controversial “comprehensive assessment” of Iran’s nuclear programme, the flaws of which were subsequently exploited to push through a biased anti-Iran resolution at the IAEA Board of Governors on June 12. This resolution effectively provided a green light to actions by West Jerusalem, leading to tragedy. Clearly, the attempts of the Western camp to manipulate the global nuclear non-proliferation regime in order to settle political scores with disfavoured nations come at a high cost to the international community and are entirely unacceptable.
Israel’s continued, intensive attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran are unlawful under international law, pose unacceptable threats to international security, and drive the world closer to a nuclear catastrophe – the consequences of which will be felt globally, including in Israel itself.
Russia calls on the Israeli leadership to reconsider its actions and immediately cease its raids on nuclear installations and sites under IAEA safeguards and subject to IAEA verification.
The Russian side expects the leadership of the Agency to promptly prepare a detailed written report for consideration by the IAEA Board of Governors and the UN Security Council. This report must provide objective and unvarnished assessments of the damage caused by Israeli military actions to the safety of Iran’s nuclear energy complex, as well as to the application of IAEA safeguards in Iran – including the intimidation of inspectors on the ground, whose lives have been placed in grave danger.

❗️ However, the exercise of this right faces the greatest number of challenges today. This occurs particularly in those States that prefer to present themselves as champions of the promotion and protection of human rights. Their total control over information is taking ever more sophisticated forms. International obligations regarding freedom of expression, equal access to information, respect for journalists’ rights and their safety as well as the maintenance of media pluralism continue to be blatantly violated in favor of the bloc’s military and political interests. This is especially evident in multiple cases of the application of “double standards” when assessing the situation with press freedom around the world. These countries and their alliances continue to systematically exclude undesirable foreign media presence from their information spaces. Discriminatory campaigns and targeted repressions against journalists include inter alia expulsions, denial of access to events, inclusion in “blacklists,” freezing of bank accounts, intimidation and defamation, criminal prosecution, fines and harassment. All these unlawful actions are being justified under the contrived pretext of “combating disinformation”.
➡️ All these egregious violations of the freedom of expression require a principled and impartial reaction by the human rights machinery, including the Human Rights Council and its Special Rapporteur on the freedom of expression.

We believe that these are very promising partners for us.

It happens almost always and everywhere, and Iran is no exception. We have very good relations with Iran. The level of trust between our countries is quite high.
🔻 The current crisis in relations between Russia and Western Europe began in 2014. But the problem is not that Russia annexed Crimea, but the problem is that Western countries contributed to the coup d'etat in Ukraine.
🔻 Our Western partners have always acted at least from a position of strength after the collapse of the Soviet Union. It happens because the world order after World War II was based on the balance of power between the victors. And now one of them is gone – the USSR has collapsed. 🇷🇺 80 лет назад — 20 июня 1945 года — из сражённого Берлина в Москву было доставлено легендарное Красное Знамя №5 — #ЗнамяПобеды — тот самый стяг, который в ночь на 1 мая 1945 года был водружён над поверженным Рейхстагом красноармейцами 150-й стрелковой дивизии Михаилом Егоровым, Мелитоном Кантарией и Алексеем Берестом.
Фотографии горящего Рейхстага с реющим над его куполом Знаменем Победы были опубликованы в московской газете «Правда» 3 мая 1945 года. Красное знамя, пробитое пулями, обагрённое кровью, стало священной реликвией советского народа-победителя.
Транспортировка Знамени была поручена летчикам 226-го авиационного полка, сформированного незадолго до того офицерами 62-го отдельного гвардейского полка Гражданского воздушного флота СССР. Высокой части сопровождать легендарное полотно на Родину были удостоены знаменитые красноармейцы, которые плечом к плечу в ходе тяжелейших боёв с фашистами подняли Знамя над куполом рейхстага — сержанты Егоров, Кантария, Сьянов и капитан Неустроев.
22 мая 1945 года во всесоюзной газете «Красная Звезда» вышло следующее сообщение:

По прибытии в Москву некоторое время оригинальное Знамя Победы находилось в сводном батальоне 1-го Белорусского фронта. Позже стяг был отправлен в Центральный музей Вооружённых Сил Российской Федерации, где и хранится до сих пор.
Показывают его крайне редко: ткань слишком хрупкая. Знамя хранится в развёрнутом виде и горизонтальной положении в стеклянной витрине, которая не пропускает ультрафиолетовые лучи, а внутри поддерживаются оптимальная температура и влажность воздуха. В постоянной экспозиции Музея выставлена точная копия оригинального стяга.
☝️ Кроваво-красное полотно остаётся главным символом Победы в Великой Отечественной войне, предметом гордости всех народов нашей страны.
