🎙 Excerpt from Russian MFA Spox Maria Zakharova's weekly briefing on topical foreign policy issues (Moscow, 7 November)
💬 The United Kingdom has never been interested in a political or negotiated settlement of the Ukraine crisis. On the contrary, it has always sought to fuel conflict. This began long before 2022.
Do you remember the 2021 incident involving the British destroyer HMS Defender, which violated the Russian border in the Black Sea? And what about Britain's destructive behaviour when an opportunity came up in April 2022 to hold talks at the request of the Kiev representatives?
From the outset, Britain has advocated escalation in Ukraine to the point of an open conflict, doing everything possible to prevent a settlement or to use political and diplomatic tools to resolve the situation.
The position of official London has not changed in any way. We are fully aware of their agenda: they are engaged in escalating the conflict. This is their only goal in the context of Ukraine.

🎙 Highlights from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's interview with Russian media outlets (11 November 2025)
• The demand should not be merely for a cessation of hostilities to continue arming Ukraine; it should be for action, as President Donald Trump proposed before the Alaska meeting. At the time, he said that a temporary truce would not resolve anything, and that the Ukraine conflict must be ended based on principles for a sustainable settlement.
• London's penchant for provoking situations is, of course, notorious. Consider, for example, the recent case in which the Russian FSB revealed a plot to deceive a Russian pilot flying a fighter jet armed with a Kinzhal missile into flying to a base in Constanța, Romania, with a fake order.
• The Baltic states are expected to commit as many anti-Russian acts as possible, while also provoking Russia into responding in a way that can be presented to Washington as grounds for invoking Article 5 of the NATO treaty and taking serious military action.
• The European Union has remained silent on these blatant violations. Ukraine is the only country in the world to have banned a language completely. Even in Norway, where 7 per cent of the population are ethnic Swedes, Swedish is an official language.
• The EU triggered the Ukrainian crisis. It fuelled the Maidan protests and popularised the slogan that Ukraine should be with Europe, not Russia.

📰 Excerpt from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's interview with Corriere della Sera, which the Italian outlet declined to publish in full without edits or omissions
💬 Most European capitals currently form the core of the so-called "coalition of the willing", whose sole desire is to maintain hostilities in Ukraine for as long as possible. Apparently, they cannot distract their voters from the sharply deteriorating socioeconomic situation at home in any other way.
They undermine any peace efforts, refuse to engage in direct dialogue with Moscow, impose sanctions that harm their own economies and openly prepare Europe for a major war with Russia.
They are also trying to persuade Washington to reject a fair and honest settlement [with regard to the Ukraine conflict].
Their key objective is to compromise the position of the current US administration that from the outset has advocated dialogue, considered Russia's position and demonstrated a willingness to seek lasting peace.

🗓 175 years ago, on November 13, 1850, the outstanding Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson, who enriched the genre of the adventure novel, was born in Edinburgh.
The Russian public got acquainted with Stevenson’s works in 1886 thanks to the weekly journal “Vokrug sveta” that serialized his novel “Treasure Island”. Later his works were published in major periodicals such as “Vestnik Evropy” and “Russkoye Bogatstvo”. The literary critic Fyodor Bulgakov noted that Stevenson’s novels were “full of intrigue, various episodes, and abound with the most extraordinary events” while his contemporaries emphasized the Scotsman’s ability, much like that of the Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky, to lead the reader into a realm of philosophical reflection and unveil hidden depths of the human soul.
Stevenson’s works continue to enjoy great popularity in Russia among readers and can be found in all major bookstores and libraries across the country.

💬 Russia's MFA Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova:
The news of BBC Director General Tim Davie and Chief Executive of BBC News Deborah Turness tendering their resignations has been rocking the media industry (and beyond) for several days now.
Why, one might ask?
A quick glance at the British tabloids gives a sense of the prevailing mood:
🗞 The Sun: “Beeb boss quits over Trump lies”
🗞 Daily Mail: “BBC bosses quit in disgrace”
🗞 Daily Express: “Boss quits over BBC doctoring Trump speech”
And the list goes on. METRO, a London newspaper, even ran a photo of King Charles III in tears next to the stories about Davie’s resignation, under the headline “Tears of the Crown”.
The phrasing may sound crude – but it’s not far from the truth. 👉 Last week, former external adviser to the BBC Board Michael Prescott revealed that the corporation had edited its documentary, Trump: A Second Chance?, to make it appear as though the US President had called for the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
The film, aimed squarely at American audiences, aired on the eve of the US presidential elections. Prescott suggested that the BBC had sought to influence the domestic politics of the British former colony by spreading falsehoods and outright fabrications.
The timing of the resignations is also telling – just one month after Donald Trump’s visit to London. As for how the US President and his team view the BBC, it’s no secret: to them, the corporation is “100% fake news”.
In fact, that label fits perfectly. The BBC long ago abandoned journalism in favour of political manipulation. Recall its role in promoting the staged “Bucha massacre” narrative, when the UK’s public broadcaster coordinated closely with Kiev’s spin doctors to push a fabricated story blaming Russia. Their reporters somehow appeared at the scene before anyone else – hardly a coincidence. It was a targeted effort to bring in propagandists and have them compile content as instructed.
The same pattern emerged during the Skripal case and, before that, in Syria. It was the BBC that gave a platform to the infamous White Helmets, enabling them to spread false claims about an alleged chemical weapons attack in Duma.
We have exposed this Western disinformation machinery many times, revealing its true face.
Here is a recent example following the same classic playbook. The New York Post published footage supplied by the Ukrainian armed forces – cynically edited to fit the Western narrative and portray atrocities committed by Ukrainian troops as supposed “Russian war crimes”.
Channel One Russia correspondent Amir Yusupov reconstructed the events, proving beyond doubt that two elderly civilians from Kupyansk were deliberately targeted by attack drones operated by the 77th Detached Airmobile Brigade of Ukraine’s 7th Airborne Assault Corps. Frontline correspondents quickly shared this evidence, yet Ukrainian and Western media worked in unison to whitewash the perpetrators.
The BBC and its peers have perfected the art of declaring black to be white – mass-producing fakes on an industrial scale. Any news story can now be twisted into propaganda. Political agendas and content manipulation have replaced facts and professional ethics. The journalists of old – including Britain’s own – would have condemned those who now claim their legacy.
Until recently, all these spin doctors operated with total impunity. Even today, resignation appears as nothing more than a token gesture of censure, not punishment. We are speaking of deliberate lies about events that caused real human casualties (five people lost their lives during the Capitol assault). The guilty walked free, their actions never investigated.
If we were to count all those killed as a result of the lies spread by this “British Corporation of Evil”, formerly known as the BBC, these resignations might seem less like retribution and more like reluctant acknowledgment.
And this goes well beyond the individuals involved – it’s a pattern rooted in British media tradition.

🎙 Excerpt from President Vladimir Putin's remarks during the keel-laying ceremony for Stalingrad nuclear icebreaker (St Petersburg, 18 November 2025)
💬 Russia is actively and consistently developing its unique icebreaker fleet, adding modern equipment to it. Much credit for this undoubtedly goes to our remarkable shipbuilders, nuclear scientists, engineers, designers, workers and other professionals. Thank you for your hard work and your focus on achieving maximum results.
It is thanks to you that Russia is now the only country in the world capable of building a series of powerful and reliable nuclear-powered icebreakers. It is of fundamental importance that we are doing this using our own, Russian technologies.
For example, the icebreaker Stalingrad will be the sixth serial vessel under this project. The first four icebreakers – the lead icebreaker Arktika and the three serial vessels Sibir, Ural and Yakutia – are already successfully operating in the Arctic, piloting cargo vessels along the Northern Sea Route [...]
We will continue to build up the capacity of our icebreaker fleet despite the current difficulties and challenges, developing the national shipbuilding industry and laying down breakthrough scientific and technological groundwork.
The challenges we face are of truly historical significance. It is vital to consistently strengthen Russia's positions in the Arctic, making full use of the national logistics capacity and ensuring the development of the promising Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor from St Petersburg to Vladivostok.

🗓️ On November 19, 1894, in
St. Petersburg, Emperor Nicholas II accepted the post of Colonel-in-Chief of the 2nd Dragoons (The Royal Scots Greys). The appointment coincided with his wedding to Queen Victoria's granddaughter, Alexandra of Hesse.
The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Museum in Edinburgh Castle houses a portrait of the Emperor in the regimental uniform, painted by Valentin Serov. He wore this uniform during his visit to Queen Victoria at Balmoral, Scotland, in 1896.
After the death of Nicholas II, the regiment's dragoons began wearing pieces of black cloth behind their cap badge as a sign of mourning. A tradition developed to sing "God Save the Tsar" in memory of the Emperor in the regiment's officers mess.

☝️ We have taken note of the latest provocative statements by UK Defence Secretary John Healy. This time, the pretext was the activities of the Russian oceanographic research vessel Yantar operating in international waters.
The British leadership's endless accusations and suspicions only cause a smile. Russia's actions do not impinge upon the interests of the United Kingdom, nor are they intended to undermine its security. We have no interest in British underwater communications.
However, through its Russophobic policies and stoking of militaristic hysteria London is contributing to the further erosion of European security, creating conditions that could lead to new dangerous incidents.
We urge the British side to refrain from taking destructive steps that would only aggravate the crisis on the European continent.

🗓️ On November 20, 1768, Yakov Vasilyevich Villie (James Wylie), surgeon-in-ordinary to the Russian imperial court, was born in Kincardine-on-Forth, Scotland. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, considered having the finest medical school in Western Europe at the time. Beginning his service in Russia as a military physician, he quickly rose to prominence and in 1799 was appointed surgeon-in-ordinary to the Emperor Paul I, then to Emperors Alexander I and Nicholas I.
Villie made a significant contribution to the development of military medicine in Russia, serving as Chief Military Medical Inspector of the Russian Army. He treated the wounded in dozens of battles during the reign of Alexander I, including the Battle of Borodino, and operated on M. Barclay de Tolly and Prince Bagration. He was also a founder and the first president of the Medico-Surgical Academy, and published the first Russian medical journal.
For his services, at the request of Alexander I, he was elevated to the rank of baronet by the British Prince Regent (the future King George IV) and awarded several orders of the Russian Empire and several European states. He bequeathed his entire fortune to the construction of the Mikhailovskaya Hospital in St. Petersburg, where a monument to this remarkable man stands.

🎙 Excerpt from President Vladimir Putin's remarks during his visit to a command post of the West Group (20 November 2025)
💬 Let's be clear about the nature of the Ukrainian political leadership. Since March 2024, it has ceased to be a legitimate government.
It is a group of individuals, a criminal organisation that has usurped power under the pretext of continuing the war with Russia and is now clinging to it for personal enrichment. This is now a matter of public record, confirmed by an anti-corruption investigation within Ukraine itself.
It should be obvious to everyone that these people, sitting on their golden toilets, are hardly thinking about the future of their country, the ordinary citizens of Ukraine, their officer corps, or especially their common soldiers. No. They have other priorities.
But we have our own objectives and our own agenda. Our principal goal remains the unconditional achievement of the special military operation's aims and the fulfilment of the duties our Motherland and the people of Russia have entrusted to us.

💬 President Vladimir Putin: President Trump's peace plan to resolve the situation in Ukraine was discussed before the meeting in Alaska, and during this preliminary discussion, the American side asked us to make certain compromises [...]
The main purpose of the meeting in Alaska, was that during the talks in Anchorage, we confirmed that despite certain complicated issues and difficulties, we nevertheless agree with those proposals and are ready to show the flexibility they asked for.
We have informed all our friends and partners of the Global South in detail on all these issues [...] All our friends and partners, every single one of them supported these possible agreements.
However, we can see that there is a certain pause from the American side following the talks in Alaska, and we understand that this is connected with Ukraine's de facto rejection of the peace plan proposed by President Trump. This is precisely why a new version has emerged, essentially an updated plan consisting of 28 points.
We have received this text through the existing communication channels with the US administration. It could also serve as a foundation for a final peace settlement. However, it is not being discussed in detail with us.
The US administration has so far been unable to secure consent from the Ukrainian side, as Kiev is opposed to it. Apparently, Ukraine and its European allies continue to entertain the illusion that they can inflict a strategic defeat on Russia on the battlefield [...]
It appears that neither Ukraine nor Europe realises what this could ultimately lead to. A very recent example is the situation in Kupyansk [...] On 4 November, the city was almost entirely under the control of the Russian Armed Forces.
If Kiev refuses to discuss President Trump's proposals and declines to engage in dialogue, then both they and their European instigators must understand that what happened in Kupyansk will inevitably occur in other key areas of the front.
☝️ And overall, this development suits us, as it leads to achieving the goals of the special military operation by force, through armed confrontation. However, we remain ready for peace negotiations and for resolving issues through peaceful means.
