Update from North-East Syria/Rojava 15.01.
Attacks on Dayr Hafir and the Tishreen dam:
After the STG declared Dayr Hafir in the eastern Aleppo countryside a “closed military zone” on tuesday large scale troop deployments from the Syrian coast have been monitored. Among the mobilized forces are groups that participated in the massacres on the Alawi population last summer.
Since then artillery and heavy weapons shelling continued throughout the last days and Turkish Bayraktar and Akinci drones were active over Dayr Hafir and Tishreen. Close to Maskana a Turkish drone strike targeted an SDF vehicle which was carrying wounded fighters. No casualties were reported. The vicinity of Tishreen Dam was attacked with suicide drones and artillery shelling, coinciding with rocket strikes on the village of “Umm al-Marra” south of Dayr Hafir.
Threat of breakout of ISIS-fighters:
The SDF declared that the threat of attacks on prisons in which ISIS-fighters are imprisoned is rising. Still more than 10 thousand ISIS-fighters are in custody in North-East-Syria and breakouts would lead to lots their fighters joining attacks on Rojava.
Attacks on civilians and infrastructure:
STG shelling targeted a sugar factory in Dayr Hafir and repeatedly civilian homes. The post office building was bombed using artillery and suicide drones without any casualties. The civilian bakery also was targeted by a suicide drone and went out of service.
STG and Turkey mobilizing forces:
Islamist militias and Turkish army troop movements which have been monitored in Gire Spî and Serekaniyê could be a sign for Turkey opening another frontline in the North of Rojava. HTS troop movements have been observed in western Deir Ez-Zor countryside. Common understanding on the ground is that the HTS led Syrian Transitional Regime is aiming at attacking Raqqa with Turkish support. Raqqa was the capital of the ISIS caliphate and is today a symbol for the democratic living together of Arabs and Kurds in Syria.
Uprising in Rojhilat/Iran:
Reports of Ten-Thousands of killings of protesters after week of protests. Closed airspaces and evacuation of US-Bases and embassies are indices for US attacks on Iran. The second phone call between Turkish foreign minister Hakan Fidan and his Iranian counterpart show the intensified coordination between Turkey and Iran to crush dissents and attack democratic and revolutionary forces.
Mobilization to defend the revolution in Rojava and North-East Syria and international solidarity:
Demonstrations with the participation of ten-thousands of people from all parts of life and all ages have been seen in many cities across the region.
In Northern Kurdistan/Turkey demonstrations and spontaneous protests are starting to spread from Kurdish majority regions to metropolis as seen in Ankara and Istanbul.
Riseup4Rojava and Women Defend Rojava are calling for mobilization to defend the revolution and the alternative to authoritarian regimes and imperialist intervention.
Boycott Campaign against Al-Jazeera launched by the Internationalist Commune of Rojava:
The call urges to unfollow Al Jazeera in order to protest misinformation and hostile propaganda. The Internationalist Commune was also pointing out to the role of Al-Jazeera in dividing the solidarity spheres for Palestine and Kurdistan.
Actions against the Jolani/Al-Sharaa visit to Berlin, Germany on the 19th:
Mobilization for large protests is ongoing. For more announcements follow Riseup4Rojava.

Update from North and East Syria 16.01
Throughout the day attacks on Dayr Hafir and Tishreen were continuing, until around midday a US army convoy left from Heseke to Dayr Hafir. Artillery shelling and drone attacks stopped at this point. A US delegation and SDF and YPJ Commander Rohilat Afrin, commander met and inspected areas that had been bombed. Later a meeting between Mazlum Abdi, member of the SDF’s General Command and Tom Barrack, USA’s special envoy for Turkey and Syria in Erbil, Southern Kurdistan was announced to happen tomorrow.
The US again present themselves as mediators between SDF and HTS but their aim is to expand their influence in Syria and in Middle East. For this they try to force conditions on the SDF that would mean surrendering to HTS; conditions that will never be accepted. Surrender is not an option!
Meanwhile the Jolani regime renewed its threats to attack SDF held regions east of Aleppo. For everyone familiar with the events of the last year HTS’s accusations, that the SDF actions would be destabilizing and dividing Syria are absurd: Under Jolani’s rule both Turkey and Israel have massively expanded its zone of influence. Sectarian attacks and massacres against the Druze and Alawites have created deep divisions among the Syrian people.
At the same time the jihadist militias continued to attack civilians in Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiye neighborhood. Also after the ceasefire: civilian homes are being set on fire while residents remain inside. More then 150,000 people have been displaced and still the situations of kidnapped is unclear. HTS shows again that they can not be trusted and are a threat to the Syrian people. Jolani signing a decret today which should grant basic rights to the Kurdish people should be seen on this basis.
In Northern Kurdistan the youth is daily on the streets and late last night fights with the Turkish police erupted. Meanwhile resistance continues around the world while the society in Rojava is preparing to defend. As one comrade said: “We said we don’t want war, we did not say we don’t know how to fight”.
⚡️Update: Mazloum Abdi the SDF announcement to retreat from Dayr Hafir and Maskana to the east of the Euphrates. The two towns are because of their exposed position difficult to defend. Along the Euphrates the conditions for fighting possible attacks by HTS are more favorable and the support of the society can play a decisive role in the defence as well. Dayr Hafir and Maskana came under control of the SDF after the Fall of the Assad Regime.

Update NES 18.01. - 11:00 CET
The war of the Jolani-regime on the revolution is taking place on the whole frontline between their territory and the Autonomous Administration of North- and East-Syria right now.
Since the last days the jihadist gangs lead by the Turkish State are attacking the surroundings of the mostly arabic populated city of Tepqa, Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, trying to reach the cities. The cities were liberated from ISIS by SDF/YPJ from 2017 to 2019. This attack is a declaration of war on all parts of North-East-Syria. The Autonomous Administration answered with general mobilization of the people to join the defence. While media connected to Damascus and Turkey are claiming that fighting already reached the centers of Tepqa and Raqqa, these allegations are fake news. Videos of reporters as well as SDF media are showing that the frontline is outside of Tepqa and that the attacks are answered with a strong defence of SDF/YPJ, dealing heavy blows to the attackers and their vehicles.

Villages that were taken by the gangs earlier were again taken back by SDF. Smaller attacks behind the frontline and in the city centers are carried out by sleeper cells of the gangs. This kind of attacks happened regularly over the last years and SDF seems to be prepared to repel them. The cities of Tepqa and Raqqa are fully under control of SDF forces and the attackers did not manage to cross the Euphrates river. While the gangs claim that they took control over the town of Mansura, fightings are taking place there right now. SDF announced they are ready to use new and modern techniques of warfare if the attacks continue. To prepare the city of Tepqa for an attack all ISIS prisoners have been brought to other regions in advance. Furthermore around 3000 displaced families that fled to Tepqa from Afrin and Shehba are on their way to the Cizîre-region in the East.
Against the war that is trying to take down the revolution, the Autonomous Administration declared the general mobilization of the people to join the defence and gather around SDF/YPJ: “The aim of these attacks is to undermine the brotherhood, […] to incite discord and violence among the communities of North-East-Syria, and to target the indigenous components of Syria, imposing a single ideology on all others.”
The war is threatening the very existence of the people and the democratic way of life in North- and East-Syria. In the spirit of the peaceful coexistence of all peoples of Syria SDF/YPJ are defending the revolution with the support of the society in North-East-Syria.

The revolution of Rojava is under existential attack! Jihadist gangs gathered in the name of the Jolani-regime under the leadership of Turkey. The offensive on North- and East-Syria has begun. In Rojava the general mobilization has been declared and everyone is ready to resist. As internationalists we also call for mobilization in Europe, Abya Yala and all around the world: For all people struggling for freedom to rise up now to defend the revolution in every way we can. The revolution that rose against the Assad regime, took down the caliphate of ISIS and became a beacon of hope can succeed over the same mentality once again. The revolutionary strength comes not from any outside force, but its the strength of the united people, of us. We are calling everyone to gather around the self-defense forces. We are rising up proclaiming "Resistance is Life!"
Take action against the responsibles of this war! Block, Disturb, Occupy!
Long live the revolution of Rojava!

Update NES/Rojava 18.01., 14:00 CET
Since last night the war has spread to frontlines all along the Euphrates stretching over a distance of around 200 km. The situation is changing by the minute. Allies of the Revolution in Rojava need to act today!
Here is the current situation on the ground:
Tishreen:
Numerous waves of attacks have been repelled. The jihadist army has suffered huge losses, numerous armored vehicles and tanks have been destroyed by the SDF. The defenders of the Revolution are steadfast.
Tepqa:
Parts of the city have fallen under control of the Turkish backed HTS-Jihadists. Currently the defending SDF and YPJ fighters are holding their ground on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates. Clashes continue.
Raqqa:
Fierce resistance and guerrilla tactics in the Reqqa country side dealt heavy blows to the islamist army pushing from the south. After the SDF had earlier detonated the “Old bridge” and the “New Bridge” the offensive of HTS came to an halt at the border of the Euphrates river. Fighting continues along the frontline. Reports of cells being activated to create turmoil in the city are yet to be confirmed, but earlier evaluations suggested this to be the tactic the Jolani regime would use. Already during the night ISIS cells were caught attempting to stir up chaos.
Deir Ez-Zor:
After the islamist gangs started to cross the Euphrates in the early morning hours fighting spread along a wide area. Parts of the Deir Ez-Zor countryside have fallen in the hands of HTS. ISIS sleeper cells as well as fighters of local Tribes were active in the region since the morning. These tribes are opposed the Model of the Democratic Autonomous Administration and the values of the Women’s Revolution.
Right now security operations by the SDF are sweeping groups who used the chaotic situation to loot stores and institutions in Markada district in the southern countryside of Shaddadi.
According to Rojava’s Ronahi TV, negotiations over a ceasefire are ongoing and talks were held between the SDF and Jolani. Details remain unknown. Until now all demands by the Jolani regime have been calls for surrender.
Everything is at stake now. We renew our urgent call to all our allies, democratic forces and internationalists: Take action now and support the Defence of the Revolution in Rojava!

Update NES/Rojava 18.01. 18:00 CET
Tepqa:
According to latest reports HTS is in control of the city and has proclaimed control over the Tepqa dam as well. A Video of the dropping of a statue of a Women Fighter, a symbol for the Women’s fight against ISIS show the mentality of the Islamist gangs.
Fight for Raqqa:
After sleeper cells loyal to HTS have been seen in a central place creating turmoil it was reported that HTS entered the city form the south. YPJ snipers have been targeting roaming Jihadists from different positions throughout the city. Clashes with HTS elements and ISIS sleeper cells in the city have been ongoing. The coming hours may decide on the fate of the city. Enemy claims that the city has been conquered are not representing the situation on the ground. SDF and YPJ are active in the city targeting Islamists with ambushes and sniper fire.
Tishreen dam: Fierce resistance against Turkish backed islamists
Attacks are continuing around the dam. Attempts to take over the strategical positions called Suritell Hill have been foiled by the SDF and YPJ. The attacking forces were targeted with heavy weapons and drones. After a tactical retreat Islamist gangs have taken position in the village of Khirbet al-Zamala close to the Tishrin Dam.
Ceasefire between the SDF and the Jolani-Regime?
According to Ronahî TV some kind of agreement was made between the SDF and the Jolani-Regime in Damascus. Until further statement it remains unclear what conditions were agreed on. Fighting continues in the meantime on all fronts and earlier ceasefires have not led to an end of escalation.

Update NES/Rojava 18.01. 22:00 CET
After a “ceasefire agreement” was announced by the Jolani regime and circulated on social media Mazlum Abdî confirmed in a television speech that a temporary ceasefire has been agreed on and that the SDF will pull back from Raqqa and Deir Ez-Zor to the south of Hassakah to prevent further civilian casualties. Tomorrow a high level meeting between the SDF and the Jolani regime will be taking place in which according to Abdî further negotiations will be held. At the end of his speech he underlined that “The achievements of the Revolution will be defended.”
Meanwhile Jolani’s visit to Berlin, Germany was postponed.
Still during the evening ambushes and sniper fire has been reported from Raqqa and also in the southern Shedadî countryside HTS/SNA/ISIS have been confronted by the SDF and YPG effectively.
Remzi Kartel, Kongra Gel Co-Chair appeared on television earlier today and was showing a clear stance regarding the demands that have been circulating:
“Any arrangement imposed on Rojava that excludes democratic integration and autonomy is unacceptable. The military situation in Rojava will not be the same as in Tabqa or Aleppo.”
KCK in a statement called to stand firm against the ongoing attacks on Rojava and North & East Syria and compared the current situation to the siege of Kobanê: “'The Spirit of Resistance of Kobanê Must Rise!”

Kobanê is under attack!
After the Tishreen Dam and the Arabic towns of Ayn Issa and Sirrin fell into the hands of the jihadist gangs, the frontline reached Kobanê. The city which stopped ISIS in 2014 and became the turning point leading to the territorial defeat of ISIS later is under siege again. Kobanê is encircled by the Turkish border on the one side, on the other the jihadist gangs are approaching.
The jihadist gangs of the Jolani-regime are now attacking the Aqtan Prison in Raqqa. The aim is to free thousands of ISIS prisoners. The prison is attacked with drones and heavy weapons. The resistance to repel the attack continues strong. While the usual number of detainees is about 2.500, the current number is unknown. It is these ISIS members who coordinated the bombings in Europe before they were captured. With the escape of more ISIS fighters, the danger of ISIS terrorism has the pontential to spread worldwide again.
The so-called ceasefire of yesterday was never put in practice. Attacks on SDF/YPJ as well as on the society are continuing. The reported war crimes of the jihadist gangs reach from femicides in Raqqa, over executions of captured fighters and people opposing the attacks to kidnappings. The massacres the Jolani-regime committed in other parts of Syria are continuing right now, targeting especially women and women fighters. The SDF, YPJ, and Internal Security Forces responded to all of these attacks and the resistance continues.
