Brutal attacks on Alawites in Homs and cities along the Syrian coast

Following the murder of a Bedouin couple, which was exploited to incite unrest against the Alawites in Homs, violent attacks on Alewites was wittnessed, initially in Homs, but quickly spreading to other cities along the Syrian coast.

Following a call by the spiritual leader of the Alawite community in Syria, thousands of Alawites protested in the regions around Homs, Tartus and Latakia. They are demanding an end to sectarian attacks, the release of political prisoners and the right to self-determination.
Security forces of the HTS transitional government led by Jolani/AlSharaa were either unable or unwilling to stop the attacks. In some cases, demonstrators were shot at.
Thousands of supporters of the Jolani government hunted down Alawites and burned down Alawite shops.

Sectarian violence under Assad or now under Jolani: the answer is decentralisation, self-determination and the right to self-defence!

❗️HTS Attacks self administrated neighborhoods Sheikh Maqsoud & Ashrafieh

This afternoon HTS started to attack the self administrated neighborhoods Sheikh Maqsoud & Ashrafieh in Aleppo with tanks and artillery. Despite all attempts to infiltrate the neighborhoods were thwarted first reports of wounded and killed civilians arrive. This is another attempt to force the SDF into an agreement on HTS’s terms. Taking into consideration todays visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, the Turkish minister of Defence and the head of the Turkish intelligence agency MIT in Damascus it becomes clear that the Turkish state is orchestrating the recent escalation.
The people of Aleppo as well as all over Rojava are right now on the streets, showing their support and proclaiming the vision of a democratic Syria. The people of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh will defend their neighbourhoods but also we need to show that we stand with the Revolution and break the silence.

URGENT: Self-administrated neighborhoods of Aleppo under attack

Since yesterday the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsud and Ashrafiye were taken under artillery fire and attacked by “suicide drones” again. Until now 7 civilians were martyred while dozens are wounded seriously. The attacks are continuing right now.

The attacking jihadist groups were formally integrated into the Syrian Army but continue to operate inofficially under the command of the Turkish secret service (MIT). While they were fighting for Turkey in the last years, occupying the Afrin region, the groups al-Amshat, Hamza Division, Esiftil-Şemal and Nour al-Din al-Zenki commited numerous crimes of war.

The Turkish state tries to sabotage the ongoing negotiations by provocating a war in Syria

We greet the resistance of the people in Aleppo and call on our allies to raise awareness for this dangerous escalation.

⚡️Aleppo-Update: Threat of Ethnic Cleansing & People’s Resistance

The so-called Syrian Arab Army (controlled by HTS) has declared Ashrafiye & Sheikh Maqsoud military zones & issued an ultimatum to the population to leave the besieged districts by 3 p.m. through one of two designated corridors.

This is a call to carry out ethnic cleansing: Anyone remaining is considered “SDF” and therefore a legitimate target.

It is important to note that the SDF withdrew from these districts in accordance with the April 1 agreement with the Syrian Transitional Government (STG). The STG, however, has repeatedly violated the agreement and attacked these districts.

Fighting continues, initial tank-supported attempts to breach the neighborhoods have been repelled.

Demonstrations in support of the resistance in Aleppo have taken place in many cities in NES. The morale of the youth defending the neighborhoods is high, and as SDF Commander Sîpan Hemo said, Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiye are "unbreakable fortresses of resistance"

Update: All out War in Aleppo

Since yesterday afternoon the Syrian Transitional Government (STG), the islamist HTS, launched an all-out war on the Sheikh Maqsoud & Ashrafiye neighbourhoods in Aleppo. Assault groups consisting of different islamist factions supported by Tanks & heavy artillery shelling have launched numerous attempts to breach the defence lines. The resistance of the people is holding the lines and dealt heavy losses to the attacking gangs.

Due to heavy shelling of civilian areas the number of martyrs and wounded is rising and even the hospital has been targeted repeatedly.
Intense fighting was reported until the the STG announced a ceasefire from 3:00 am to 09:00 and called the resisting people to leave the neighbourhoods.

Alarming reports of crimes against humanity: Last night a whole family was murdered by shelling on residential buildings and calls to massacre civilians are circulating on social media. Videos document the mistreatment of captured fighters and the execution of youths.

The people are ready to defend their neighbourhoods

Fake news are spread about the people leaving the neighbourhoods of Ashrafiye and Sheikh Maqsoud.

The council of both neighbourhoods made clear:

"We, as the administration of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah councils, do not accept the pressure on our people and our neighbourhoods. Due to the actions of the Damascus government since coming to power against the various components and divisions of Syria, and especially the relentless massacres and massacres against our people in the last few days, we do not believe that they can assure our security in our neighbourhoods. For this reason, it is not possible for us to take a step back in terms of securing the security of our neighborhoods. We have decided to stay in our neighbourhoods and protect them"
