The outages have forced some outlets to shutter completely with McDonald’s in Japan posting on X that “operations are temporarily out at many of our stores nationwide.”

The website Downdetector also reported a spike in problems with the McDonald’s app in the last several hours – leading to social media meltdowns.

“The issue is not related to a cybersecurity incident,” a McDonald's spox told AP.
