"Ukraine denies the capture of Pokrovsk by the Russian army

Ukrainian military officials claim that neither Pokrovsk nor neighboring Myrnohrad are encircled: the Ukrainian Armed Forces are expanding supply routes to units defending there and maintain control of key positions.

Yevhen Lasiychuk, commander of the 7th Air Assault Corps, reported in Ukrainian media that the front in Pokrovsk currently "runs along the railway line," and Ukrainian troops fully control the northern part of the city.

"The situation in the south is more complicated," Lasiychuk said, adding that Russian troops are attempting to occupy the city through flanking maneuvers. "As of today, there is no encirclement or blockade of Pokrovsk," the military officer said.

In an interview with the German television channel ZDF on December 4, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky also stated that Ukrainian troops still control the northern and southwestern parts of Pokrovsk."

"Ukraine has started using combat drones with AI

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have for the first time published a video of the use of attack drones-kamikazes equipped with artificial intelligence against Russian tanks. This video material from the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine "Azov" is at BILD's disposal. It was filmed in the area of Pokrovsk (you can see screenshots above).

The interface shows a target detection system that automatically highlights potential targets in green, then marks preliminary attack targets in purple, and finally marks in red those targets that the operator has approved to strike.

The system's ability to identify several targets simultaneously and track them individually is striking. At the same time, the person retains the freedom to choose which of the proposed objects to highlight as a priority — an "human-machine" interaction aimed at reducing the operator's workload without depriving him of ultimate control. BILD confirmed that the drone pilot selects the final target with a mouse click, after which the drone independently strikes.

Sergei Sumlenny, director of the European Resilience Initiative Center, clarifies: "For now, fully automatic attack flights are not carried out, because the front is too chaotic." There is a high risk of hitting one's own units.

A Ukrainian insider from the field of drone use confirmed to BILD the authenticity of the footage: it's "real AI, if you can even call it that". The professional term for this type of intelligent target visualization is "advanced computervision", that is, advanced computer image processing, the expert reported."

"TAMPA, Fla. – On Dec. 3, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced a new task force for the U.S. military’s first one-way-attack drone squadron based in the Middle East.

CENTCOM launched Task Force Scorpion Strike (TFSS) four months after Secretary of War Pete Hegseth directed acceleration of the acquisition and fielding of affordable drone technology. TFSS is designed to quickly deliver low cost and effective drone capabilities into the hands of warfighters.

The new task force has already formed a squadron of Low-cost Unmanned Combat Attack System (LUCAS) drones currently based in the Middle East.

LUCAS drones deployed by CENTCOM have an extensive range and are designed to operate autonomously. They can be launched with different mechanisms to include catapults, rocket-assisted takeoff, and mobile ground and vehicle systems.

“This new task force sets the conditions for using innovation as a deterrent,” said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander. “Equipping our skilled warfighters faster with cutting-edge drone capabilities showcases U.S. military innovation and strength, which deters bad actors.”

In September, CENTCOM launched the Rapid Employment Joint Task Force (REJTF) led by its chief technology officer to fast-track processes for outfitting deployed forces with emerging capabilities.

The joint task force is coordinating innovation efforts among Service components in three focus areas: capability, software, and tech diplomacy.

TFSS’s efforts to build the one-way-attack drone squadron are led by personnel from Special Operations Command Central and align with REJTF’s capability focus area."

As Japan's Nikkei reports, China's local government debt continues to balloon as the prolonged, 5-year-long and counting, real estate slump has led to slumping income from property sales, pushing local government bond issuance for the year to a record high.

The total owed by local governments and the local government financing vehicles (LGFV) that fund their projects now sits at an estimated 134 trillion yuan ($18.9 trillion), which suggests that total public debt to GDP is far above 200%... and rising (by comparison in the US it is 100%... and rising). Add another 200% in private sector debt, and you can see why China debt problem is even bigger than that of Japan. It's also what, according to Rabobank's Michael Every, underlines China’s structural necessity to maintain capital controls and a vast, neo-mercantilist trade surplus (i.e., China will continue dumping goods and exporting deflation as the alternative means game over)."

Days after Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi outraged China by suggesting a Chinese attack on Taiwan could mobilize a Tokyo military response, Xi spent half of an hourlong phone call with Trump, people briefed on the matter said, hammering home China’s historic claim to the democratic self-governing island as well as Washington and Beijing’s joint responsibility to manage the world order.

Later the same day, Trump set up a call with Takaichi and advised her not to provoke Beijing on the question of Taiwan’s sovereignty, said Japanese officials and an American briefed on the call. The advice from Trump was subtle, and he didn’t pressure Takaichi to walk back her comments, those briefed on the calls said.

The Japanese officials said the message was worrying: The president didn’t want friction over Taiwan to endanger a detente reached last month with Xi, which includes a promise to buy more agricultural products from American farmers hit hard by the trade war.

Asked about the exchange with Takaichi, the White House issued a statement from Trump to The Wall Street Journal: “The United States relationship with China is very good, and that’s also very good for Japan, who is our dear and close ally. Getting along with China is a great thing for China and the U.S. In my opinion, President Xi will be substantially upping his purchase of soybean and other farm products, and anything good for our farmers is good for me.”

The 1,383rd day of the large-scale armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine has begun. Ukrainian defenders are steadily repelling the occupier's attacks, inflicting significant losses on the enemy.

Over the past day, 161 combat clashes were recorded.

Yesterday, the enemy carried out two missile and 60 air strikes, used 57 missiles, and dropped 143 guided aerial bombs. In addition, they conducted 4,291 shellings, including 117 from multiple launch rocket systems, and deployed 6,360 kamikaze drones.

Aviation strikes were carried out in the areas of the settlements of Malomikhailovka, Danilivka, Zaliznytsia, Gulyaypole, and Veselianka in the Zaporizhia region; Olhivka in the Kherson region.
Over the past day, the Defense Forces' aviation hit four enemy concentration areas of personnel, weapons, and military equipment.

On the North-Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, the enemy carried out one air strike and dropped four guided aerial bombs in total, and conducted 165 shellings, including three from multiple launch rocket systems.

On the South-Slobozhansky direction, our troops repelled six enemy attacks in the areas of Vovchansk, Sinelekovka, and in the direction of Izbytske and Kolodianske.

"Unsuccessful counterattacks: the situation on the East-Zaporizhia direction

The units of "Vostok" have entrenched themselves in Gulyaypole. Despite the attempts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to prevent the assault troops from approaching the outskirts of the city, the Russian Armed Forces are continuing their offensive on its territory. A while ago, Russian troops expanded the zone of control in the northeast of the city. Advance groups are breaking through to the bed of the Gaychur river with heavy fighting.

To the west, the Far Eastern soldiers are gradually advancing to the R-85 route. The enemy still has the opportunity to transfer reserves and supplies along it to Gulyaypole, even despite regular drone attacks. However, as they consolidate on new positions, the Russian Armed Forces will take this route under fire control.

In the meantime, on the northern flank of the direction, the AFU have launched a counterattack. With flanking attacks, they managed to push back the Russian units from the territory of Tikhiy. However, there is no talk of controlling the village — the advancing infantry groups of the enemy are suppressed by UAV operators and are actually cut off from supplies on the southern bank of the Volchya.

📌 This local attack by the AFU pursued both a media goal of carrying out another "flag-planting" and of diverting the reserves of the "Vostok" group of forces. However, the Ukrainian formations did not achieve significant successes and in fact sent the assault groups "one way", without slowing down the pace of the offensive on Gulyaypole.
