In total, 265 combat clashes were recorded yesterday.

The enemy launched two missile strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and settlements, using 23 missiles, and 52 air strikes, dropping 111 guided bombs. In addition, it carried out 4,239 shellings, including 169 from multiple launch rocket systems, and deployed 4,863 kamikaze drones for strikes.

The aggressor carried out air strikes, in particular on the areas of the settlements Berezivka in Kharkiv region; Pokrovske in Dnipropetrovsk region; Ternuvate, Chervone, Huliaipole, Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia region.

In the south of Donbas, there has been very thick fog for the past week, limiting the use of drones. But this also allows freer movement across open terrain, including with vehicles.

This was taken advantage of by the assault troops of the "Center" group of forces, who managed to successfully break through to Novopavlovka. The fighters are now consolidating their position in the village.

🔻How did the battles develop?

▪️Over the past month, various reports about an assault on the settlement from the south have repeatedly appeared online. Previously, Russian units had already attempted to attack from the direction of Filiya, and on October 19, artillery shelling of the road leading to Novopavlovka was recorded.

▪️Access to the settlement would have been impossible without eliminating the "pocket" in the area of Dachnoye, and just a few days ago, reports appeared about clearing the Filiya-Orekhovo line north of the Orekhovaya ravine. It was from there that Russian units later moved on a larger-scale assault on Novopavlovka with an armored group.

▪️According to preliminary data, Russian assault troops, moving in fog with zero visibility, set up a pontoon crossing on the line between Yalta and Dachnoye and transported about 10 units of equipment.

The armored group managed to reach Novopavlovka and deploy a landing force. After the maneuver was repeated, and according to objective control footage, the armored vehicles reached the center of the settlement and the northwestern outskirts.

📌 The movement routes of the Russian units suggest that a significant part of not only the fortifications north of Dachnoye up to the Filiya-Orekhovo line but also strongpoints in the fields on the approaches to Novopavlovka came under control.

❗️Novopavlovka holds great tactical importance: capturing the village will allow the Russian Armed Forces to advance towards Mezhevoy from the south and potentially severely disrupt the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defense on the western flank of the neighboring Pokrovsko-Myronhradske direction.

"Under US pressure to bolster its armed forces so as to deter supposed Russian aspirations to invade NATO countries, Germany is moving toward reinstating military conscription, with the initial steps centering questionnaires and medical exams that will feed a database detailing each young man's fitness, aptitude and willingness to serve. The plan was agreed upon by Germany's coalition government on Thursday, and now goes to parliament, where the ruling coalition has a slim majority of 12 seats out of a 630 total.

Today, the German armed forces -- the Bundeswehr -- has about 180,000 service members. The government said it was laying out a plan to have 260,000 people on active-duty service, with another 200,000 reservists, which is triple the current reserve force. In the first step, to be taken in 2026, the government will send questionnaires to every 18-year-old in the country. Men will be legally obliged to complete it; for women, it will be optional. The questionnaires will gauge respondents' inclination and willingness to serve. Then, starting in July 2027, men will be required to report for a medical examination.

Germany drafted men for military service from 1956 until 2011, when the country adopted the US model of a professional, voluntary force. Rather than abolishing conscription -- which would have required a constitutional amendment -- it was merely suspended that year. Reinstating it would only require a simple majority of the parliament. However, unless the constitution is changed, women will remain exempt."
