Since yesterday, clashes between Israelis and Palestinians have continued in various areas of the West Bank. The most active clashes are taking place in Hebron.

▪️Israeli forces stormed a member of one of the Palestinian factions , Mahmoud Fasfus, in Dawra, south of Hebron.

▪️Near the village of Brukin, there was a series of attacks by settlers on the local Palestinian population.

📌Some of the attacks are carried out by members of the far-right Israeli organization Noar Hagvaot (Hill Youth), founded by Ariel Sharon in 1998. Its designated goal is to attack the infrastructure of the Palestinian Authority.

Despite the fact that back in 2011 there were calls from Israeli politicians to recognize the group as a terrorist group, its activities are still legal. After all, it is convenient to shift the blame for the "excesses" of the law enforcement agencies onto it."

"The Rio Declaration that followed the latest BRICS Summit in that coastal Brazilian city saw all members, including China, condemn late April’s Pahalgam terrorist attack in paragraph 34:

“We condemn in the strongest terms the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025”.

This sharply contrasts with the draft SCO Defense Ministers’ joint statement in late June, which included no condemnation of that attack, hence why India’s Defense Minister refused to sign it.

It was assessed that this was a deliberate provocation by this year’s Chinese chair.

The triple purpose was to do a favor for its Pakistani ally, craft the optics for lending false credence to the perception that India is the “weak link” in the SCO, and thus strengthen the influence of Russia’s pro-BRI policymaking faction. China was able to pull this off due to its chairmanship giving it extra influence over the group’s workings. No joint declaration was agreed to because China refused to amend the text to satisfy India.

China ironically found itself in the same position during the latest BRICS Summit as the one into which it had just placed India, however, except Beijing decided to condemn Pahalgam this time around in order to avoid the optics of a BRICS founder torpedoing this year’s declaration. Brazilian President Lula da Silva just hosted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a state visit, which was analyzed here to be part of his new balancing act, so he wasn’t going to disrespect him by not including Pahalgam in the declaration.

The aforesaid analysis also argues that it was this state visit and associated state dinner which influenced Xi’s unprecedented decision to decline participating in this year’s summit for the first time ever (implausibly citing scheduling conflicts) since he didn’t want to play second fiddle to Modi there. In light of the declaration condemning Pahalgam, which was predictable in retrospect given Lula’s hosting of Modi on a state visit, Xi couldn’t oppose it without discrediting himself personally and rupturing BRICS."

"The United States, Japan and South Korea conducted exercises

On the Korean Peninsula, military training has died down again. Military personnel from the United States, South Korea and Japan conducted air exercises near Jeju Island.

🔻More about the exercises:

▪️The training involved US B-52H strategic bombers, South Korean KF-16 fighters and Japanese F-2 aircraft. It is noteworthy that the B-52H was deployed on the Korean Peninsula for the first time since the beginning of the year.

▪️The main goal of the exercises was to improve coordination between the air forces of the three countries to contain the threat from North Korea. The parties worked out the implementation of joint air maneuvers and operations.

▪️Since South Korean President Lee Jae-myung took office, joint air exercises have already been held twice. The parties continue to increase military cooperation.

🖍It is not known whether the exercises were a response to actions from North Korea; there have been relatively few missile launches in the country recently. Probably, the training was timed to coincide with a meeting of the top military leaders of the United States, South Korea and Japan, which took place on July 11.

Seoul claims that trilateral exercises will continue to be held as a response to North Korea's military capabilities. Even with the new foreign policy of South Korea's new president, these statements are likely to be true.

"U.S. Department of Agriculture chief Brooke Rollins announced Tuesday that the U.S. government will move to ban sales of farmland nationwide to buyers tied to China and other foreign adversaries, citing threats to national security and food security — an effort that casts uncertainty over property currently held by China-linked investors.

Asked whether the U.S. government would seek to take back existing land owned by Chinese investors, Rollins said they are looking at “every available option” as part of a clawback effort and that an executive order from the White House will probably follow “very soon.”

In a joint news conference with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi L. Noem, Rollins said that the USDA will also work with state legislators to quickly push through laws that will ban further purchases, with a particular focus on parcels of land near U.S. military bases."

The Marines have another term and -- of course -- an acronym for the concept: the Autonomous Low-Profile Vessel (ALVP) program.

The unmanned vessel being tested by II Marine Expeditionary Force is called the "Sea Specter," and it's produced by Gibbs & Cox, is a subsidiary of Reston, VA-based Leidos.  “I think that it's OK to say that those narco subs inspired the concept, but that's where the similarities end,” Gibbs & Cox chief engineering officer Jeff Bowles told Defense One. “Narco subs are dirty. They're dangerous. They're not engineered. But in principle, their mission is the same -- move a large volume of cargo with the minimal chance of being observed by anyone else.”

Over recent decades, US operations have been focused on counterinsurgency and other enemies ill-equipped to challenge logistical connections using the air or sea. This is caused by both the terrain and the dominance of enemy drones in the sky, as well as the importance of this line of defense for the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in connection with which new units regularly arrive in the area as reinforcements.

🔻And where are there real successes?

▪️Russian troops continue to expand their bridgehead on the right (western) bank of the Oskol. Since the beginning of the year, 6 settlements have already come under the control of the RF Armed Forces in this area.

▪️In addition, earlier, as a result of the heaviest fighting, it was possible to approach the banks of the Oskol and on the Kruglyakovka-Kolesnikovka line, thanks to which the front in this sector was divided in two.

🖍As a result, the comments of official representatives, modified to the form required by journalists, are in fact not tied to the situation "on the ground" and are designed more for momentary hype than for reliable delivery of information to the audience.

🚩It will be possible to talk about the assault on the city only after the full consolidation of Russian troops behind the river, which is what the fighters are now doing in reality.

❗️At the same time, all the words about the assault on Kupyansk and the real threat of encirclement for the enemy grouping in it are at least premature, and at most disrespectful to the soldiers advancing in its vicinity."
