In an interview with Berliner Zeitung, he described reactivating a Chinese bank account in minutes, contrasting it with repeated closures of his accounts in Germany and Switzerland.
He criticized Europe’s bureaucracy as “irrational” and daily life there as “ten times harder” than in China.
Notably, he said ordinary people in Beijing welcomed him warmly, while in Germany, “almost no one” ever invited him home in ten years. His remarks challenge Western narratives and suggest a profound shift in perspective from one of China’s most famous exiles.
