We have encountered an unexpected bug, a situation that has introduced the need for some additional rules and has forced us to remove certain participants. To ensure the integrity and success of Battle of Stakes campaign, we've decided to reset the testnet. We aim to relaunch, refreshed and improved, by Monday at the latest.
What can you expect? New rules that refine our process and an enhanced testnet environment that leverages the lessons learned. This reset is a step towards ensuring a robust and effective platform for all involved.
We understand this sudden pause might come as a surprise, but it already ensures a better Vega release. We're committed to keeping you informed and will share updates as soon as they're available.

Battle of Stakes campaign is set to restart tomorrow, 2 April 2024! We will redistribute eGLD in the morning, with the activation epoch planned for 10-11 UTC.
🛠 Adjustments and New Campaign Rules:
In light of the challenges encountered during our initial launch, we've taken this opportunity to refine our approach. This includes implementing new rules to enhance the fairness and integrity of the campaign.
Here’s what you need to know:
Preconditions:
The auction results at the start of each epoch include detailed information, such as:
- Qualified nodes and their stakes per node.
- Unqualified nodes and their stakes per node.
Provider/owner information for each node in the auction list: total nodes and total stake.
Information on other providers not in the auction list: total stake and number of nodes.
During the campaign, each participant/SP will receive 10 points at the beginning of each epoch. We will deduct points based on the number of failures incurred. The participant with the highest score at the end will become the winner of the campaign, with all the others ranked in descending order according to their point totals. It is mandatory to stake the entire 20000 xEGLD amount. Entities failing to do this, will be disqualified.
Strategies for Counting Failures:
For SPs with nodes in the auction list:
A failure will be counted if a provider with qualified nodes could have had more nodes qualified. One failure per provider will be counted for each additional node that could have been qualified.
Owners with unqualified nodes in the auction will receive one failure per unqualified node.
For SPs without nodes in the auction list:
Failures will be counted for owners who could have added nodes to qualify but did not. One failure will be counted for each missed opportunity.
xEGLD Distribution Details:
We will distribute 20,001 xEGLD. Unfortunately, those who registered after the last deadline will not be eligible for this distribution (Last deadline: 28 March 2024 - 19:00 UTC).
The 3 accounts that during the last campaign start delegated without creating a SP have been removed. Moving forward, any account that follows this course will be disqualified.
Campaign Duration: 120 Epochs
This reset is our commitment to ensuring a fair and successful campaign for all participants. We appreciate your understanding and adaptability as we implemented these necessary adjustments.

Open to Delegators: In a bid to broaden the campaign's reach and impact, delegators are now invited to participate opening the doors to new testing scenarios.
🔍 New Testing Category: We're introducing a special category for testing - Special Scenarios Testing. This initiative encourages participants to try unique strategies and configurations. Should you require additional xEGLD for your tests, please request it via this form.
🕰 Schedule Update: To accommodate these changes and ensure everything is set for success, the activation epoch is now scheduled for 14:00-15:00 UTC.

As part of this process, we request your participation in creating the list of public BLS keys for the validator nodes to be added at genesis, along with the associated rewards addresses. To facilitate this, we have created a form for you to enter and submit your data. Please visit the following link: https://form.typeform.com/to/NFt6aJ40. We encourage all interested validators to fill in the required information.
The Battle Of Stakes was a success; we managed to identify and fix two minor bugs. Nevertheless, the xEGLD for special scenarios will be distributed as requested through this form: https://form.typeform.com/to/d4Fk9yIh soon after the genesis. If you have not yet made your request, there is still time to do so.
Here is a tentative timeline for the upcoming events:
- 18.04.2024: Publish the form for data submission.

As we make final preparations for the upgrade to Staking v4, we have decided to take additional time to ensure everything runs smoothly. Consequently, we will be postponing the testnet upgrade originally scheduled for today, April 24th.
As always we are committed to providing the highest user experience and will share a new timeline for the upgrade soon (will still try to keep the initial timeline). Stay tuned for further updates!

We will use the previous responses and submissions for genesis, but anyone willing to participate is more than welcome to register. We will be distributing the extra needed xEGLD soon after the genesis.

An edge case that might cause inconsistencies in the way how the nodes see the auction list has been found in the v1.7.10. In order to mitigate it, we have prepared the fixes, which are pending testing.
⏳ We estimate that we'll have a proper release on Monday, 20th May.
🚨 Keeping in mind that the activation epoch for Vega is estimated to begin at 21st May ~16:20 UTC this will only give ~1 day timeframe for nodes operator to perform the upgrade.
👉 Actions needed:
- ❗️please make sure that you have enough time bandwidth to perform the upgrade as soon as possible on Monday 20th May after we'll send you the version to upgrade to.
- ❗️the maximum deadline when the upgrade should be performed is Tuesday May 21st at 16 UTC.
