📣 MAINNET Upgrade V1.1.24.0

Hello Validators,

A MAINNET upgrade is in progress. Here's a list of the most important changes with this update:

• Smart Contracts Deployment
• Relayed (meta) transactions
• Ahead Of Time Compilation
• New gas model

Not included in this upgrade: ESDT tokens, Staking Phase 3. These will come via a subsequent upgrade.

This upgrade brings the devnet to the same level as the testnet and allows intensive testing for Ⓜ️ Maiar in a public environment.

Hello Validators,

A MAINNET upgrade is in progress. We are upgrading the MAINNET! The bugfixes included in the latest testnet release are now ready to be deployed on the mainnet. The two bugs can only theoretically manifest after January 26, with the activation of the new features. By upgrading before that, we remove that possibility.

Issues fixed:

• a memory leak problem in Arwen VM
• a backwards compatibility issue on the gasCost REST API endpoint.

The upgrade brings several bug-fixes & improvements. One subtle change: we will activate staking v2, system delegation manager and 3 more fixes on epoch 6 ~2021.02.20 10:00:00 UTC but the maximum number of nodes will be enlarged to 3200 after 5 epochs. This is important, all node stake operations (regardless from the wallet or from the system delegation smart contracts) will put the new nodes on the waiting queue up until 2021.02.21 06:00:00 UTC.

Hello Validators,

We are upgrading the TESTNET. We upgrade the nodes and keep the database.

♻️ Node redundancy - you can now set up multiple backup nodes for the same Validator.

1. Install as many backup nodes as needed
2. Copy the main Validator .pem file to the backup nodes
3. Edit prefs.toml, add the bit below, as is, and change the parameter "RedundancyLevel" to a positive integer.

# RedundancyLevel represents the level of redundancy used by the node (-1 = disabled, 0 = main instance (default),
   # 1 = first backup, 2 = second backup, etc.)
   RedundancyLevel = 0

Example:

• Main node - 0
• Backup node 1 - 3
• Backup node 2 - 5

The integer is a multiplier of x5 rounds. i.e. Backup Node 1 will automatically propose and sign blocks instead of the Main node after 3 x 5 = 15 rounds during which the Main node does not sign.

⚠️ Don't configure multiple backup nodes with the same RedundancyLevel value - they will double-sign.
