🇷🇺🇨🇳 During the final stage of the Maritime Interaction 2025 drills, the Russian and Chinese navy ships practised an artillery battle with the mock enemy and searched for the mock enemy submarine in the Sea of Japan waters.

🎯 Artillery systems were fired at a group naval target imitating an assault landing ship detachment of the mock enemy.

⚓️ Y-8 Chinese anti-ship aircraft and Il-38 naval aviation aircraft of the Pacific Fleet were involved in actions to locate and destroy the mock enemy submarine. Shipboard helicopters were also deployed in the search for the mock enemy submarine.

💥 As a result of effective and cohesive actions, the mock enemy submarine was promptly located and conditionally destroyed.

🤝 After completing the anti-submarine tasks, the Russian and Chinese ships crews thanked each other for fruitful work.

➡️ Having replenished supplies, ship crews of the Russian Navy and the People's Liberation Army Navy will form a new detachment to perform joint patrols in the Asia-Pacific Region.

As can be seen from the foreign-agent website The Insider’s swift and nervous reaction to a Telegram post by Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova about bright, but rainbow-free future for Canada, the future of the federal government in Ottawa hit home with the pseudo-investigators.

Regrettably, they failed to come up with any meaningful arguments to counter that statement.

The unnamed (embarrassed?) pseudo-investigators failed to refute the news about the secessionist tendencies in Canada.

They themselves write about differences between the federal and regional authorities in the province of Alberta saying that “Premier Danielle Smith and Justice Minister Mickey Amery described the commission’s decision as unfair bureaucratic red tape that hinders Albertans from expressing their views on important political issues” and that Alberta has a strong chance of seceding from Canada.

At the same time, in order to discredit such prospects, they quoted the federal Canadian press, which is clearly very much interested in keeping the current regime in Ottawa in place. Even the “refutation” article says that the “level of support for Alberta’s secession has changed. In May 2020, only 12 percent of the polled were “completely” in favour of secession. By May 2025, this figure had risen to 17 percent.” If this trend continues unchanged, by 2045, the overwhelming majority of Alberta residents will strongly oppose the federal authorities.

On to Saskatchewan where 40 percent of the respondents from the province’s ruling party supported secession from Canada. This represents an utter abject failure of Canadian federalism, rather than “slim chances of separatism,” as The Insider tries to present it.

The Insider also forgot to mention that youth is leaving the province of Manitoba, and the supporting trend in the province is steadily declining.

With regard to Quebec, even the chart in the refutation article — with 36 to 40 percent in favour of independence — shows a steady political demand for secession. If Canada starts to break at the seams, will the francophone Quebec agree to English-speaking Ottawa maintaining its authority?

The key point is that the refutation authors haven’t said a word about the republican forces in Canada, nor about the declining popularity of the monarchy, nor about far-right groups within the Canadian military that are dissatisfied with the government. Instead, for reasons unknown, they posted a link to a video of a same-sex couple dancing on ice. No one disputed the fact that heroin is legal for possession and personal use in some parts of Canada, either.

That begs the question: why write a refutation that corroborates the findings of the original material and adds even more arguments to back it up?

Either The Insider employs low-skilled professionals, or they genuinely have an issue with Canada and want it to break up as soon as possible.

🤔 Also, will they let us in on who bankrolls this outlet to cook up this kind of ignorant content?
🎙 Comment by Russian Ambassador to South Africa Roman Ambarov to TASS (August 5, 2025)

Question: What charitable initiatives is the Russian Embassy in South Africa involved in?

💬 Roman Ambarov: Russia has always been and remains a reliable friend of the Republic of South Africa—not only in the fields of political, economic, cultural, and educational cooperation, but also in providing humanitarian aid. In its work, the Russian Embassy in South Africa follows a principle supported by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin: “African solutions to African problems.”

We regularly take part in charitable initiatives organized by South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation during #MandelaDay and #MandelaMonth. In July of this year, together with other foreign diplomatic missions, we supported a primary school in Gauteng Province that is in dire need of funding by donating chalkboards and food for the students.

I would like to emphasize that our charitable work is not limited to one-time actions. It is a year-round, systematic effort carried out by our Embassy staff. Two South African children’s institutions are under the care of the Russian diplomatic mission — the Bophelong Children’s Home in Mamelodi and the New Jerusalem Children’s Home in Midrand. Our diplomats regularly visit the children, show genuine interest in their lives and challenges, and offer help whenever possible.

Our aim is not only to provide necessities but also to bring joy and positive emotions.

It has already become a tradition to invite children from these institutions to screenings of Russian films, organized by the Embassy in one of Pretoria’s theaters. Last year, together with the parish of the Russian Orthodox Church in Johannesburg, we hosted a screening of the popular animated film Masha and the Bear for the children of New Jerusalem. The joy and excitement on the children’s faces as they clapped and sang along with Masha was the greatest reward for us.

These events are usually accompanied by friendly tea parties with Russian pastries, as well as educational presentations about Russia, our culture, traditions, and holidays.

As Nelson Mandela once said, “There can be no greater gift than giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return.” We fully share this philosophy and try to embody it in our work.

🕯 On August 6, 1945, exactly 80 years ago, humanity witnessed one of the most horrific events in history, when the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, targeting civilians for the first time.

◼️ At 8.15 am the hands of the clock in Hiroshima stood still. The “Little Boy” atomic bomb, weighing 4.4 tons, exploded at an altitude of 576 metres above ground, instantly incinerating over 80'000 people. The temperature at the epicentre of the explosion reached nearly 4'000 degrees Celsius, destroying everything within an 800-metre radius. Tens of thousands more residents of the city died in the following months from radiation sickness and other impacts of radiation exposure.

The development of the deadly weapon commenced in the United States as early as 1939, before the launch of the secret Manhattan Project in 1942, led by nuclear physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer and General Leslie R. Groves, Jr. The creation of the nuclear arsenal cost a staggering $2 billion (equivalent to roughly $45 billion today), and involved more than 130'000 specialists. The US leadership sought to acquire an ultimate weapon that would enable them to impose their will on the entire world.

By the summer of 1945, three atomic bombs had been produced: the “Gadget” for testing, the “Little Boy,” and the “Fat Man”. The latter two were designed to intimidate Japan and to showcase the growing power of the United States to the Soviet Union.

☝️ Western historians are still trying to justify this barbaric act as necessary to force Japan to surrender. However, by early August 1945, the Japanese troops were already on the brink of exhaustion, and the Soviet Union’s entry into the war on August 8 played a key role in defeating militarist Japan.

The bombing of Hiroshima was a brutal demonstration of American force in an attempt to justify the huge financial investment in the nuclear programme.

🕯 Survivors of the atomic bombing, known in Japan as “hibakusha” (literally, “people affected by exposure”), lived for decades with severe physical and psychological consequences. According to Japan’s Health Ministry, approximately 200'000 Hibakusha were still alive in 2012.

💬 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov:
To this day, the terrible death of innocent civilians strikes a chord with millions of people on our planet. It is hard to fully understand what the masterminds and perpetrators of such an inhumane act were guided by.

(excerpt from Sergey Lavrov’s message to the participants of the memorial ceremony in Hiroshima on the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing).

Neither President Harry Truman nor his successors ever apologised for the suffering inflicted on the residents of Hiroshima and their descendants. Moreover, Japanese officials have chosen to silence the fact that the United States was responsible for the tragedy.

🎙 Statement by Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy at a UNSC Briefing on Hostages in the Gaza Strip (New York, August 5, 2025)

💬 Dmitry Polyanskiy: Mr. President,

We mourn all innocent victims of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, regardless of their citizenship or nationality.

We should not have to choose whose pain is more worthy of attention. This applies equally to the Israelis in captivity and to the peaceful Palestinians who for almost 670 days have been suffering virtually daily bombardment by Israel.

Since October 2023, more than 61,000 Palestinians have been killed, including over 18,000 children, according to UNICEF.

Against this backdrop, the overall situation in Gaza can only be characterized as a humanitarian disaster, and it has repercussions not only for the Gazans but also for the Israeli hostages.

We are shocked by the targeted attack by the IDF on the headquarters of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Khan Yunis, as a result of which one staff member was killed and several others were wounded. Unfortunately, this is not the first time when members of the Red Crescent Society have died in Gaza.

❗️ We call on Israel to stop this lawlessness – humanitarian and medical workers should not be targeted. Nor should the Red Crescent headquarters be targeted; it is clearly marked with their logo and is unambiguously under the protection of international humanitarian law.

Contrary to West Jerusalem's claims, the humanitarian blockade of the enclave, which they imposed in March, remains in place to date.

👉 In this context, we fully support the calls by the UNRWA leadership and other specialized UN agencies to immediately remove the impediments to the delivery of all essential supplies to Gaza, including food, water, fuel, and medicines.

<...>

Equally disturbing is the fact that the Israeli authorities have embraced the policy of cleansing and colonizing the West Bank.

⚠️ It is ordinary Palestinians and even foreigners who every day become victims of relentless raids by security forces and settler violence. July 30, for example, witnessed an attack on an official vehicle of the Russian Mission to the Palestinian Authority, and this was done under the lenient eye of the Israeli military.

The Knesset continues passing new provocative legislation – for instance, following last year's decisions to ban UNRWA, at the end of July, an equally dangerous decision was taken to extend Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank.

A systematic policy of exiling Palestinians – whether from the Gaza Strip or the West Bank – is fraught with new risks and dangers for stability and security in the Middle East and could once again bring the region to the brink of a major war.

It is also clear that Israel would never have a free hand in Gaza and the West Bank but for direct military support and international political cover from the US. At the same time, the absolute majority of countries around the world are rejecting this policy.

<...>

☝️ Despite the fact that the current situation is extremely difficult, we remain convinced that a diplomatic settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is and remains the only viable solution.

We urge the parties, with the support of the mediators, to return to the negotiating table so as to work out mutually acceptable solutions to restore the ceasefire regime, release detainees, and unblock humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip.

We are confident that this is what the people of Palestine want as well as the families of the Israeli hostages held in Gaza.

🇷🇺🇲🇾 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held talks in the Kremlin with Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim, who is in Russia on a state visit.

💬 President Putin: Your Majesty! Friends!

It is my great pleasure to warmly welcome you to Moscow.

We greatly value the friendship our two nations share, with diplomatic relations spanning nearly six decades.

Over these years, we have built a strong political dialogue, maintained close governmental interaction, and fostered ongoing ties between our parliamentarians.

Our trade is growing at an impressive pace. As I just mentioned while we were walking towards this hall, I have had the privilege of visiting Malaysia three times, and each visit left me with the warmest memories. <...>

Your country’s hospitality and the high-level reception we received, along with its unique, breathtaking nature, remain unforgettable – not only for me but also for members of my delegation who have had the honour of visiting Malaysia.

I have already mentioned the ongoing contacts between our respective departments. Your government leaders often visit our country, and I also have good relations with them.

📈 I must also note that bilateral trade grew by over 40 percent in the first five months of this year, which I see as an impressive achievement.

We cooperate on various international platforms – above all, of course, the United Nations. But it is well known that promoting dialogue with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, which Malaysia chairs this year, remains one of Russia’s key foreign policy priorities in Asia.

Beyond our bilateral ties, Your Majesty, we are deeply grateful to you for Malaysia’s role in strengthening Russia’s engagement with the broader region.

Furthermore, we were pleased to support Kuala Lumpur’s interest in joining BRICS as a partner state – a landmark step that will benefit both our bilateral relations and the future of BRICS. Your country’s contributions to the recent Summit in Rio de Janeiro were highly commendable.

We also appreciate Malaysia’s active participation in the Russia – Islamic World strategic vision group, which has become an effective tool for fostering mutual understanding and cooperation between Russia and Islamic nations.

🤝 Your Majesty, I am confident that your visit will be both productive and rewarding. Beyond our official discussions, I hope you and your delegation will have the opportunity to experience and appreciate Moscow – one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing metropolises in the world.

Welcome, Your Majesty!

🌟 On August 7, 1941, Soviet aviator Viktor Talalikhin, piloting an I-16 fighter aircraft, carried out one of the first aerial ramming attacks in the early days of the Great Patriotic War.

During an aerial dogfight over the skies above Moscow, the legendary ace skillfully got behind a German 'Heinkel' He 111, opened fire on one of its engines before ramming the enemy aircraft and bringing it down. Talalikhin risked his life, knowing that this was the only way to stop it from reaching Moscow and bombing the city. This heroic feat secured Victor's place in both national and world history.

🎖 #Talalikhin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, as well as the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal. Shortly thereafter, the aviator — at the age of just 22 — was appointed squadron commander and elevated to the rank of lieutenant.

Viktor Talalikhin repeatedly distinguished himself in other dogfight missions, downing at least four Nazi aircraft. He was about to destroy a fifth one in his final battle — in the skies above Podolsk, but Talalikhin's plane was hit after downing two German Bf 109 (Me 109) fighters.

Against the backdrop of the fierce battles of the summer of 1941, Talalikhin’s self-sacrifice in the fight against the Nazis inspired millions. Throughout the Great Patriotic War, Soviet pilots rammed enemy aircraft over 600 times.

🕯 Viktor Talalikhin was buried with full military honours at Moscow’s Novodevichy Cemetery. By order of the USSR People’s Commissar for Defence of August 30, 1948, Talalikhin was posthumously inscribed permanently in the 1st Squadron of the 177th Fighter Aviation Regiment, with which he had fought against the enemy near Moscow.

⚡️ Comment by the Aide to the President of Russia Yury Ushakov on Vladimir Putin’s meeting with US President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff (August 7, 2025)

💬 Yury Ushakov: This meeting took place in a business-like atmosphere and was quite constructive. Both Sides can be satisfied with the outcomes of this conversation. The discussion focused on matters dealing with future efforts to work together in the context of resolving the Ukraine crisis.

🇷🇺🇺🇸 Once again, it was noted that Russia-US relations could be placed on a totally different, mutually beneficial footing, which would be in stark contrast with the way these relations have evolved in recent years.

❗️ Regarding the Ukraine agenda, at the proposal of the United States, there was a principled agreement to hold a top-level bilateral meeting in the coming days, which means a meeting between presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.

Together with our American colleagues, we are about to start working on the specific parameters of this meeting and its venue. The venue has also been coordinated, and we will communicate on this point a little later.

As for the option of holding a trilateral meeting, which for some reason became a subject of speculation yesterday in Washington, the US representative simply mentioned it during the meeting at the Kremlin. However, there was no specific discussion on this topic. Russia has not commented on this option in any way. Our suggestion primarily focuses on preparing for a bilateral meeting with Donald Trump.

What matters most is that the meeting proves successful and produces tangible results.

It is already well known that Donald Trump spoke to several of his European partners on the phone to discuss these issues after Steve Witkoff reported back to him. It is worth noting in this regard that we have also been updating our close partners and friends through the relevant communication channels to inform them on the topics discussed during the meeting with Steve Witkoff.

Next week was suggested as a possible timeframe [for holding the meeting], but since the effort to prepare for this important event is only just beginning for both Parties, it is hard to say how long the preparations will take.

That said, the option of holding this meeting sometime next week was on the table, and we hold quite a positive view in this regard.

✍️ Comment by Russian Ambassador to South Africa Roman #Ambarov published by TV BRICS media outlet on August 6, 2025

Currently, more than 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ South Africans are studying in higher education programs in Russia. This includes those who enrolled through the quota provided by the Russian Government to South Africa, as well as those studying on a contractual basis. In addition to Moscow and St. Petersburg, local applicants choose universities in Saratov, Tambov, Astrakhan, and Kursk. Russian higher education is in demand in fields such as medicine, engineering, mathematics, and computer science.

A degree earned in Russia is highly valued, even though in some fields graduates must have their qualifications recognized before they can work in South Africa (for example, medical professionals — due to South Africa’s unique geographic and climatic conditions).

Some of the students who decide to pursue higher education in Russia receive co-funding from South Africa’s Department of Higher Education and Training. The support is based on certain criteria, one of which is the obligation to return home and work for a certain period after completing their studies.

Indeed, many South Africans dream of studying in Russia. Allow me to share a heartwarming story of one such dream that came true 👇

Benedict, a resident of the “New Jerusalem” orphanage in Midrand, who lost both parents and spent 11 years in the orphanage, had a strong desire to study in Russia. She took part in online Russian language courses organized by Saint Petersburg State University specifically for interested South African residents. In 2024, she applied for admission to the Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia #RUDN and was accepted. As a full orphan, she could not afford airfare or living expenses in Moscow. However, the Russian community in South Africa, which has long supported the orphanage, stepped in to help.

Benedict is now in Moscow. She has already completed the preparatory program at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas and will soon begin her main studies at RUDN.
🇷🇺🇦🇪 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin had a meeting in the Kremlin with President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (August 7, 2025)

💬 Vladimir Putin: Your Majesty, friends,

Allow me to offer you my heartfelt greetings and welcome you to Moscow. Your Majesty, I am delighted to see you once again in the capital of Russia.

We attach special importance to our relations with the United Arab Emirates. For Russia, the UAE is a friendly nation, and we have been maintaining contacts at a high political level. There has been upward momentum in our economic ties, including both trade and investment. In fact, mutual investment has been on the rise.

I would like to note that so far, Russia has been investing significantly more in the United Arab Emirates than vice versa. In fact, our investment is almost double the amount invested by the UAE here. That said, we recognise that your sovereign wealth fund and the Russian Direct Investment Fund have been quite effective in forging closer ties. We appreciate your trust in Russian investment specialists. We closely monitor this sector, which has been delivering tangible results.

Humanitarian cooperation between our two countries has been quite good too. I am referring to our contacts in education and culture. As far as I know, you have been interested in the way Sirius, our Sochi-based centre for talented youth, operates. It has come to the attention of your family members who travelled to Sirius to learn how it works, while you visited the Primakov School during your visit to Moscow. I do hope that we will make further strides in developing our relations along this track.

Of course, we should exchange views on regional developments and international security during today’s meeting. Our two countries have been proactive in working together in various formats, starting with the United Nations, and the UAE has recently joined BRICS as a full-fledged participant.

You have also signed an agreement with the #EAEU, which I believe contains a positive decision on 85% of traded product categories, with many customs duties reduced to zero.

Overall, we have much to discuss, considering the scale of our relations. We are delighted to see you here.

Welcome, Your Majesty.

🎙 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin answered questions from media representatives following talks with President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (August 7, 2025)

Question: Given the recent news about your upcoming meeting with President Trump, who initiated it?

💬 Vladimir Putin: Both Sides have expressed interest. At this point, who reached out first is no longer relevant.

Question: Could you clarify please? Your Aide Yury Ushakov mentioned that the meeting will likely happen next week. Do you have any details on the location — even just a hint?

💬 Vladimir Putin: We have many friends willing to help organise such events. One of them is the President of the United Arab Emirates. The exact venue is still being decided, but the UAE would be one of the suitable options.

Question: What about Zelensky? Will you be meeting with him?

💬 Vladimir Putin: I have said repeatedly that I have no objection to meeting with him in principle — it is possible. But certain conditions must be met first. Unfortunately, we are still far from that point.
🇷🇺🇹🇷📞 On August 7, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Hakan Fidan held a telephone conversation.

The Ministers discussed the situation developing in the context of the Ukraine crisis.

They have agreed to maintain regular communication.

🎙 Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s comment on the Ukrainian crisis (August 7, 2025)

Key points:

• The Kiev regime persists in its campaign of terror against the population of our nation. Over the past week, 145 Russian civilians have been injured as a result of enemy shelling and drone strikes. Of these, 18 were killed — including one child — while 127 sustained injuries, among them seven minors.

• The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to receive a steady influx of Western weapons. After lengthy discussions with Washington, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius announced an agreement: Germany will purchase new Patriot air-defence systems, enabling Berlin to decommission and transfer two of its older systems to the Kiev regime as military aid.

• These investments amount to nothing but a reckless squandering of European taxpayers’ money. Their funds are being funnelled into weapons for the combat zone — only for those weapons to be swiftly destroyed, or seized as trophies to be used by the Russian Armed Forces or put on display in captured Western equipment exhibits across Russia. And when they are used as intended, the result is more civilian deaths.

• Meanwhile, the Kiev regime continues to refuse to take back 1'000 Ukrainian prisoners of war. This stalled the second stage of the prisoner exchange and prevents the start of the third, which represents a heinous state of affairs. This transcends double standards and borders on sheer amorality.

Russia’s Investigative Committee is conducting systematic work to gather evidence of crimes perpetrated by Bankovaya. The International Public Tribunal on the Crimes of Ukrainian Neo-Nazis has collected numerous facts. On July 31, the Tribunal released a book on the atrocities of the neo-Banderites in the Kursk Region and the Donetsk People’s Republic. It includes testimonies from survivors in liberated towns and villages and Russian military personnel who came back from Ukrainian captivity.

• The Kiev regime continues to destroy Soviet and Russian memorial heritage, and is doing so under false pretenses of decommunisation. In reality, though, it is simply rewriting history. After the barbaric dismantling of the Hill of Glory memorial in Lvov, the authorities of the Lvov Region announced the dismantling of the Eternal Flame memorial in Drogobych and two monuments to Soviet soldiers in the village of Mikhailovichi.

• In the absence of a proper international response, the sacrilegious policy of the Kiev regime to destroy historical memory continues to gain momentum. Instead, state-level veneration of Nazi collaborators and the theory of racial superiority are forced upon the people of Ukraine.

• The above facts show the urgency of the special military operation to denazify and demilitarise Ukraine and to remove threats coming from it. As the Russian leadership repeatedly stated, all its objectives will be achieved no matter what.
