We have extremely many ties with Ukraine - cultural, spiritual, economic. We have hundreds years of common history. After brake up of the Soviet Union more than half the Ukrainian population spoke Russian.
Ukraine quickly became anti-Russian after the first Maidan uprising in 2004, and the West reinforced this trend.
The Ukrainian government idealistically believed that as quick as it will cut off ties with Russia, join the EU and NATO, it will get billions of profit and benefits.
Multinational Ukraine was turned into mono-ethnic state by Zelensky. Russians and Russian speaking people were supposed to be aliens in Ukraine, many laws have been taken that prohibited using of Russian language and education in Russian.
Humiliation of Russian people in Ukraine, the offensive against Donbass, and failed Minsk agreements are the origins of the Ukrainian conflict.

✍ 📰 Article by Ambassador of Russia to South Africa Ilya Rogachev ‘February 2014 in Ukraine: Point of No Return’ (22 February 2024)
👉 Key points:
🔹The violent unconstitutional coup in Kiev on 22 February 2014 became the culmination of the so-called ‘Euromaidan’ supported from outside of Ukraine.
🔹Western masterminds of the coup applied ‘colour revolution’ technologies to escalate the violence, including the ‘unknown shooters’ who shoot the participants of the rallies on both sides, leaving over 50 dead.
🔹The opposition breached the agreements on the settlement signed with the President of Ukraine while European ‘guarantors’ of its implementation did nothing to put down the protesters.
☝Thus, hopes for political settlement of the crisis were ruined.
🔹Ukraine’s legitimate authorities were unconstitutionally toppled, the constitution itself was changed and new government appointed by acts contradicting then Ukraine’s legislation which is why the coup d’etat is qualified as such.
🔹Far-right organizations were incorporated into the newly formed governmental bodies of Ukraine.
❗The notorious neo-Nazi ‘Azov’ battalion became part of the National Guard of Ukraine.
🔹The new authorities kicked off an ‘anti-terrorist operation’ (ATO) against Donbass which did not recognize the new authorities. In light of the recent ruling of the International Court of Justice, the ATO comes across as none else but a war by the Kiev regime against Ukrainians.
👉 In February 2022, Russia came to stop this war.

⚡️ Following the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War the USA and its NATO allies began actively working with former Soviet republics in order to shape them for their own neocolonial purposes.
Ukraine has always received special attention from the Western states in the post-Soviet space as it was the most developed republic, one with strong industrial, agricultural and scientific potential and extremely close ties with Russia. The goal was to seize its market, reshape the economy, making it ever-dependent on the West.
To this end, the USA and the EU, by hand of obedient Ukrainian elites, were methodically destroying the country's basis, severing the economic, trade and cultural ties with Russia.
❗️ In the early 2000s, the so-called 'collective West' inspired the Orange Revolution of 2004 that aimed at distancing Ukraine from Russia and integrating it into the Euro-Atlantic institutions came to power in Kiev.
The blatant interference of the West in the internal affairs triggered a deep political crisis in Ukraine that became irreversible and led to the unconstitutional coup d'etat in 2014.
This event led to a sharp polarization of the Ukrainian society, which predetermined an armed civil conflict. The new 'authorities' launched the so called "anti-terrorist operation" to suppress protests in Donbass by force.
☝️ As a result, Ukrainian armed forces have been shelling Donbass for all these years. This forced Russia to intervene in the situation by launching a special military operation.
The actions of the West within the framework of the large-scale "hybrid war" confirm the global nature of the confrontation in Ukraine. Military and financial assistance is being provided to the Kiev regime, and the range of 'deliveries' at the taxpayers' expense is constantly increasing.
👉 Ukraine is a mere instrument in the hands of the United States and its NATO allies, whose long-term goal is to to break the security architecture in the post-Soviet space and Eurasia as a whole.

On the 10th anniversary of the coup d'état in Kiev, we recall the historical origins of the terrorist methods of the Kiev regime, its masterminds and the roots of Ukrainian neo-Nazism, as well as the destructive role of the West.
🎬 Operation Ukraine. Terror on Demand - RT documentary.
Synopsis: The murder of Daria Dugina, the bombing of the Crimean Bridge, torture and torment in secret prisons - the pattern and methods of modern Ukrainian neo-Nazis are unmistakable. The The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) inherited them from their predecessors - the Bandera Nazis, collaborators who ruthlessly exterminated their compatriots.
The Ukrainian Nazis were actively supported by the US: it conducted covert operations on the territory of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, funded certain groups and, after the collapse of the USSR, systematically revived the ideology of Nazism in Ukraine.
The West intended to plunge Ukraine into bloody terror in order to separate the republic from the Soviet Union and weaken the USSR's influence on the world stage. It was a covert operation - "Aerodynamic".

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the G20 Ministerial Meeting on reforming global governance (Rio de Janeiro, February 22, 2024)
Key points:
🔹 The forming of a fair multipolar world order without a definite centre and periphery has become much more intensive in the past few years. Asian, African and Latin American countries are becoming important parts of the global economy. Not infrequently, they are setting the tone and the dynamics.
🔹 In 2023, the BRICS countries’ share in world GDP, in purchasing power parity, grew to 35 percent, exceeding the G7’s share of 30.3 percent.
🔹 Many Western economies, especially in Europe, are actually stagnating against this background. These statistics are from Western-supervised institutions – the IMF, the World Bank and the OECD.
🔹 These institutions are becoming relics from the past. Western domination is already affecting their ability to meet the requirements of the times. Meanwhile, it is perfectly obvious today that the current problems of humanity can only be resolved through a concerted effort and with due consideration for the interests of the Global South and, generally, all global economic realities.
❗️ Institutions like the IMF, the World Bank, the EBRD, and the EIB are prioritising Kiev’s military and other needs. The West allocated over $250 billion to tide over its underling thus creating funding shortages in other parts of the world. Ukraine is taking up the bulk of the funds, relegating Africa and other regions of the Global South to rationing.
🔹 Countries that have discredited themselves by using unlawful acts ranging from unilateral sanctions and the seizure of sovereign assets and private property to blockades, embargoes, and discrimination against economic operators based on nationality to settle scores with their geopolitical opponents cannot be considered guarantors of financial stability.
🔹 Without a doubt, new institutions that focus on consensus and mutual benefit are needed to democratise the global economic governance system. Today, we are seeing positive dynamics for strengthening various alliances, including BRICS, the SCO, ASEAN, the African Union, LAS, CELAC, and the EAEU.
🔹 This year, Russia chairs BRICS, which saw several new members join it. We will do our best to reinforce the potential of this association and its ties with the G20.
🇺🇳 Considering that 6 out of 15 UN Security Council members represent the Western bloc, we will support the expansion of this body solely through the accession of countries from Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

February 23, 2024
💬 Comrades, friends,
I congratulate veterans, active military and civilian personnel of the Armed Forces and all who have served in the military on Defender of the Fatherland Day.
<…>
On this holiday, we pay our deepest respects to our heroic fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers who crushed Nazism, we take out the military orders and medals, photographs and letters from frontline soldiers, say a heartfelt thank you and warmly embrace our dear veterans. We will always remember that it was the Soviet people who defended the freedom of Russia, all of Europe and the entire world.
Russian soldiers and officers are honourably carrying on these glorious military traditions. Today it is the participants of the special military operation who are on the frontlines. You fight for truth and justice; you show courage and valour in defence of Russia. You are true national heroes. We are proud of you, we admire your courage, we honour your exploits. We know it is difficult for you, and we will do everything possible to help you complete the mission you have been assigned. Thank you for valiantly performing your military duty, and for your faithful and selfless service to the Fatherland.
There are many alarming challenges and risks in the modern world, but the powerful capabilities and combat readiness of our army and navy guarantee Russia’s security and its free, sovereign development.
Incorporating our real combat experience, we will continue to strengthen the Armed Forces in every possible way, including ongoing re-equipping and modernisation efforts.

On this day in 1918, in the vicinity of villages of the Bolshoe Lopatino and Maloe Lopatino near Pskov, the fighters of the 2nd Red Army Corps started to fight against an advanced detachment of German troops that were marching toward Petrograd (now Saint Petersburg).
That is why upon the initiative of the Petrograd Council, February 23 was proclaimed the Red Army Day.
🎆 After the World War II, in Moscow, the other capitals of the USSR's Republics, as well as hero cities, and the hero fortress of Brest, established a tradition to perform solemn artillery salutes on February 23rd.
On this day, by long-standing custom, people meet with veterans, pay tribute and lay flowers to the graves of fallen soldiers, participate in solemn ceremonies.

❓: Dear Ambassador Antonov, how could the Russian Embassy in Washington DC comment on Biden's insulting attack on Vladimir Putin?
💬 Anatoly Antonov: As soon as the State Department started its work this morning, we sent a strong note of protest about the outrageous nature and inadmissibility of insults from the American leadership to the Russian President.
❌ It is unlikely that the current situation will be resolved with a simple apology, and it does not look like the US authorities will go for it. Strictly speaking, we do not expect an adequate reaction. As we approach the November elections in America, such escapades are becoming routine.
👉 Let me add: The United States is rich in a galaxy of talented and wise politicians who have done a lot to transform this country into a powerful and once respected power. However, in today's Washington, they have practically forgotten the precepts of their ancestors. It is enough to mention John F.Kennedy, who spoke at the height of the Cold War about the importance of treating Russia with respect, avoiding derogatory statements. On the contrary, tabloid-type fights and obscene language, which were sinned against in the Wild West, have become commonplace here.
☝️The Administration continues to destroy the remnants of the positive legacy of Russia-U.S. relations. Everything is being done to provoke us to take emotional retaliatory steps. It is obvious that rudeness, swearing, obscene statements do not serve to strengthen strategic security, which is in high demand in current historical conditions.
📌 We are convinced that the impermissible rhetoric of the U.S. authorities only testifies to the powerlessness and lack of common sense in the current policy towards Russia.
