🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s answer to a question from the Moscow. Kremlin. Putin programme (Moscow, December 10, 2023)

Question: The German consulates general in Russia have ceased operations [on Berlin's initiative]. Nevertheless, a new German ambassador has arrived in Russia. How does this align with the fact that our diplomatic relations continue?

💬 Sergey
Lavrov: We are not severing diplomatic relations with anyone. President of Russia Vladimir Putin will accept credentials from the German ambassador today. But we will tell them the truth.
🗓 On December 11 in 1961, the Soviet Union and Tanzania established diplomatic relations. Our country provided assistance to the Tanzanian people’s liberation movement and was one of the first countries to recognise the sovereignty of Tanganyika and Zanzibar, which later formed a union state.

🇷🇺🇹🇿 Russia and Tanzania maintain friendly partner relations based on the principles of mutual respect and a balance of interests. We coordinate our actions at the UN and other multilateral organisations and work together to strengthen stability and security in East Africa.

🤝 Russia and Tanzania are promoting bilateral trade and economic and investment cooperation. In December 2022, we signed an agreement to establish a joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

🔹 Bilateral cooperation is focused on energy, civilian nuclear projects, tourism, education and transport.

💬 President Vladimir Putin (at the ceremony to receive foreign ambassadors’ letters of credence held on September 20, 2022): “We will continue to strengthen traditionally friendly relations with the United Republic of Tanzania. <...> We welcome the efforts of Tanzania to settle problems on the African continent. We will cooperate on a broad range of current issues on the regional and international agenda.”

⚡️Briefing by Chief of Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops of the Armed Forces of Russia Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov on US military-biological activity (December 11, 2023)

📄Western countries did sabotage the vote on the Security Council Resolution on the international investigation of the US biological labs.

Russian specialists gained access to several Ukrainian biological facilities: laboratories in Rubezhnoye, Severodonetsk, Kherson and their official documentation. It confirmed the dangerous nature of Pentagon's experiments to assess the Ukrainian population's susceptibility to zoonotic infections, the facts of testing pharmaceuticals on the local population and exporting biological samples to the US for their possible use in offensive biological programmes.

<...>

❗️Office of the President of Ukraine is coordinating the actions of national special services in organising an anti-Russian provocative action with poisonous substances.

Taking into account the experience of the Syrian conflict, it is assumed that accusing the Russian Armed Forced of using chemical weapons will allow launching a new anti-Russian campaign in the UN institutions and the world media outlets.

<...>

According to the reporting documents available to us for the Project 'Assessing Risk of Emerging Infections from Insectivorous Bats in Ukraine and Georgia', coronavirus studies were conducted in 2016–2020.

The spread of the new coronavirus infection has led to a significant increase in the profits of biotech companies that produce vaccines and drugs against coronaviruses, and increased the dependence of developing countries on the US, created the conditions for the continued implementation of dual-use programmes.

☝️The US efforts to establish global biological control are accompanied by the replacement of the provisions of the BWC and other norms of international law with its own rules, which were developed in the US interest, supported by the collective West, and imposed on third countries for implementation
#Opinion by Maria Zakharova

💬 The American magazine Foreign Affairs, on international politics, has not yet publicly stated its support for terrorism. However, Ben Hodges, a former Commanding General of US Army Europe and a trio from the US Military Academy – Prof Ledlie Klosky, Associate Professor of International Relations Robert Person and civil engineering expert Eric Williamson – are calling for bloody acts of terrorism.

In five pages, the above team headed by Hodges and Klosky discuss how to inflict irreparable damage on a Russian civilian facility – the Crimean Bridge, a symbol of the peninsula’s unification with the rest of Russia.

They advise potential terrorists what supports to hit, where to put explosives and what missiles to use for an attack. They urge Olaf Scholz to send TAURUS cruise missiles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces as soon as possible. The American military are not in the least concerned that civilians are using this bridge, that women and children are riding trains and buses on it. They persistently encourage the Kiev regime to strike at this key civilian transport artery.

Do these sorry old cowboys know who they look like?

When Crimea was liberated in 1944, the USSR State Defence Committee passed a resolution on building a railway bridge over the Kerch Strait. The cableway resumed operations in February 1944, and the railway opened a bit later (the first train passed on November 3, 1944). The Germans continuously tried to strike both of them. Being aware of the crossing’s military importance, the Soviet command reinforced the group of defence units. In spring 1944, they used 470 air defence weapons, 294 anti-aircraft machine guns, 132 searchlights, 96 fighters and 2 radar stations. They needed all this combat hardware to repel attacks by Nazi troops that were not giving up their attempts to destroy the Kerch Strait crossing.

Am I correct in thinking that US Military Academy experts and retired generals are inspired by the Wehrmacht’s plans when they write about inflicting strategic defeat on Russia with such enthusiasm?

Incidentally, our Embassy in Washington has already publicly asked Foreign Affairs what other extremist manuals it is prepared to publish, noting that the principle of freedom of speech cannot justify appeals for terrorism.

It would be interesting to know how this magazine would react if someone proposed publish an article on its pages using the experience of destroying the Twin Towers on other skyscrapers in Manhattan?

🇷🇺🇮🇷📞 On December 11, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossien Amir-Abdollahian.

The two Foreign Ministers had a detailed discussion on current issues related to bilateral cooperation in the follow-up to the extensive talks between the presidents of the two countries that took place in Moscow on December 7. They agreed to expedite the work on completing the coordination of a new grand interstate treaty, which has reached a high degree of readiness.

A particular focus was on current developments in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. The Ministers expressed shared concern over the conflict’s ongoing escalation and the deterioration in the humanitarian situation in Gaza. They also stressed the importance of brokering an immediate ceasefire and providing emergency assistance to the civilian victims of hostilities, as well as urging the UN to use its influence in this regard.
🇪🇸 There are numerous cases of racism, xenophobia, religious, ethnic and ideological intolerance in Spain, which have been put on record by the media and local NGOs.

For example, the Spanish Movement against Intolerance registers an average of over 5,000 such incidents per year, including attacks on Muslims in the streets, insults against them on the Internet and the desecration of mosques. According to the NGO, Spanish segment of the Internet has about 1,000 websites promoting neo-Nazism and xenophobia.

There have been cases of various forms of neo-Nazism. For example, since 2007 the members of far-right organizations have held annually in February a procession through Madrid (last time on 11 February 2023) in memory of the fallen soldiers of the Blue division, (which fought as part of the German forces on the territory of the USSR in 1941-1943), displaying fascist symbols.

Various manifestations of racial discrimination had been recorded in Spain. According to a study entitled "Youth and racism", about 25 per cent of young Spaniards have racist and xenophobic attitudes, and they do not hide their intolerance towards Roma, Moroccans and sub-Saharan Africans.

The EU Agency for Fundamental Human Rights noted last year a serious problem regarding public confidence in the actions of law enforcement officials. In particular, it indicated that in Spain, only one in ten victims of hate crimes reports them to law enforcement authorities.

Human rights defenders pay special attention to the problems of migrants. For example, the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women in May 2023 pointed out that a significant number of migrant women are victims of trafficking, the main areas of which are forced labour, especially in the agricultural sector, and sexual exploitation.

☝️ Of serious concern is the harsh practice of immediately deporting migrants, without following the prescribed procedures.

🇷🇺 Thirty years ago, on December 12, 1993, 58.2 million Russian citizens (54.8% of the entire electorate) cast their ballots at a nationwide referendum and approved the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the country’s fundamental law.

The Constitution officially entered into force on December 25, 1993.

This important national document formalises the division of state power branches and the federal state system.

📕 #IntrerestingFact: The Russian Constitution is composed of the Preamble, two sections, nine chapters, 137 articles and nine paragraphs of interim and concluding provisions.

💪 The Constitution possesses supreme legal force and direct effect, and is applied throughout Russia.

The main copy of the nation’s fundamental law is stored in the Kremlin Library. When assuming office, the President of the Russian Federation takes an oath of allegiance, placing his right hand on this copy of the Constitution. The text of the 33-Russian word presidential oath of allegiance is as follows:

💬 In the execution of the duties vested in me as the President of the Russian Federation, I solemnly vow to uphold and safeguard human rights and freedoms, to honour and protect the Constitution of the Russian Federation, to preserve the sovereignty, independence, security, and integrity of the state, and to faithfully serve the people.

According to Article 86, the President of Russia oversees the implementation of the foreign policy of the Russian Federation.

The Constitution explicitly stipulates the role of international law as a component part of the Russian legal system. If an international treaty establishes different rules than those envisaged by the law, the rules of the treaty shall be applied.

🛰 #IntrerestingFact: Two copies of the Constitution have travelled into space: once aboard the Mir orbital station in 1999, and once aboard the International Space Station in 2005, spending 329 days in orbit in total.
🇰🇪 Today Kenya marks 60th Anniversary of Independence. On this day in 1963, Kenyans officially liberated themselves from the British colonial yoke.

Kenya had been under British rule since the 1880s. Despite the active resistance of local tribes against British expansion, the Brits quelled the rebellion with punitive expeditions. In the early XX century, a plantation economy was established, based on land expropriation and use of forced labour of the African population in the territory of modern Kenya.

In 1920, Kenya officially became a colony of Great Britain. In the period between the two world wars, Africans’ consciousness began to grow, and eventually the country was swept by a liberation movement.

🕯 The anti-colonial Mau-Mau rebellion broke out in 1952-1956. It was brutally suppressed, resulting in the death of at least 12'500 Africans, with over a thousand executed. Faced with the resistance, London was forced to make concessions to the local population and eventually handed over full power in the country to the Kenyans.

💬 Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova:
[After gaining independence] the country has made significant progress in nation building and socioeconomic development. Today, Kenya actively engages in the affairs of the African community.

(from the weekly briefing, December 6, 2023)

🤝 The Soviet Union was among the first to recognise Kenya’s independence, establishing diplomatic relations with the African state on December 14. Russian-Kenyan relations remain traditionally friendly, with joint efforts aimed at promoting constructive interaction in international affairs and fostering fruitful cooperation in political, trade and economic spheres 🇷🇺🇰🇪

🎉 We extend our congratulations to our Kenyan colleagues and friends on their national holiday, and wish them prosperity, well-being and continued development.

🎙 Briefing by Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik on the crimes committed by the Kiev regime (Moscow, December 12, 2023).

Key talking points:

💬 Having suffered defeats and significant losses on the battlefield, Ukrainian Armed Forces, following instructions of their political authorities, are diverting their military capacities to attacking civilians and civilian infrastructure.

• The analysis of the strikes and its pattern, as well as weapons and methods used by the Ukrainian fighters, we can confidently state that, they kill and harm civilians, destroy civilian facilities and infrastructure deliberately with a clear understanding of the consequences.

❗️ Since November the Armed Forces of Ukraine used more than 12,000 munitions of various caliber and modification to strike civilian facilities. Some 250 civilians were affected by Ukrainian shelling, with 1 in every 5 of them killed.

• Another "innovation" developed by Ukrainian fighters is hunting civilians with drones. Operators flying UAVs equipped with explosive objects track down civilians and drop munitions on them.

🤐 Until now, we have not heard any words of condemnation or concern about the lawlessness perpetrated by Kiev from representatives of Western states and international organizations.

• The Ukrainian regime is consistently and tentatively committing an unprecedented act of abuse of the feelings and of millions of believers in Ukraine. It is trampling on the principles of freedom of religions and staking a medieval coven to expel, ban, and humiliate the believers of Ukraine's largest religious organization, the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

☝️ The Zelensky's regime is trying to eliminate all of the basics of the life of the Ukrainian people — Ukrainian Orthodox, religious, the Russian language, cultural heritage such as arts, national ethnic traditions and monuments.

Ambassador Stepanov’s comment to TASS News Agency:

☝🏻Trudeau’s cabinet is well aware that all its anti-🇷🇺 sanctions are worthless. Yet, 🇨🇦 continues to mechanically produce these bizarre “regulations”.
↔️However, the reciprocity principle is still in place. Our response will follow.
🇷🇺🇺🇸 Ambassador Anatoly Antonov’s answer to a media question

: Dear Ambassador Antonov, how would you comment on the results of Ukraine leader’s visit to the United States?

💬 Anatoly Antonov: Zelensky’s trip turned to be completely lacking of substance. An empty attempt to show that Ukraine is more important than U.S. security proved to be a failure. Everyone is tired of the Kievan beggarman.

The anti-Russian steps taken today – including new sanctions and yet another batch of armaments – is just a shot to put a good face on a bad game. Nothing can help Zelensky any more. But the Americans are risking to be stuck ever deeper in a swamp that is the Ukrainian conflict.

👉 Restrictions and arms supplies will not influence Russia’s foreign policy priorities. We will continue to defend national interests of our Motherland.

☝️Deadly weapons carrying a “Made in USA” label worth $200 million will only prolong the conflict and cause suffering to thousands of people. And not only in Eastern Europe, but also in other regions of the world, where these arms seep to “thanks” to Ukrainian corrupt officials.

Ambassador Gennady Gatilov’s response to a question from TASS on the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights:

📍 December 12, 2023

▪️ Regrettably, there is little cause for celebration, despite the anniversary date. 75 years after the adoption of the Universal Declaration, we observe a distressing situation in the field of human rights worldwide.

▪️ Problems that were inherent to certain historical periods have not only persisted, but also multiplied. Today, the topic of promoting and protecting human rights is being shamelessly manipulated by the Western states who consider themselves “paragons” in this area, imposing systems of alien views and values on other countries and peoples.

The highest value – human life – continues to be selectively interpreted by individual states. This is especially evident through international conflicts and humanitarian catastrophes, when certain lives are deemed “less important”. Take, for example, the unsuccessful attempts to adopt a UN Security Council resolution on a ceasefire in Gaza, which is being consistently blocked by the US. This clearly shows the real attitude towards the right of ordinary Palestinians to life. For many years, the plight of the people of Donbass, who suffered and perished under Ukrainian bombs and shells, also received little to no attention.

▪️ The dire situation in the field of human rights cannot be alleviated by competitions in eloquence. Real actions are required, ones that prioritize efforts by the entire international community to build a fair multipolar world, in which the interests of all countries would be equally taken into account, including their national, religious, cultural, historical and other peculiarities.

▪️ Unfortunately, this is not the case right now. Therefore, the grand events held this week on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights seem more like a “feast during the plague.” Much talk, little action.

🚀 The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) that oversees international cooperation in the peaceful use of outer space was established on December 13, 1958.

The Soviet Union ushered in the space age by launching Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite, on October 4, 1957, paving the way for the creation of a new entity within the UN Secretariat.

🤝 #UNOOSA carries out the United Nations Programme on Space Applications (PSA) and works on streamlining space research and technology for promoting social and economic development around the world with a special emphasis on the developing countries.

We note with satisfaction that even 65 years after its founding, UNOOSA continues to play a key role in ensuring equal and mutually beneficial cooperation between space powers and the developing countries seeking to join efforts on the peaceful uses of outer space.

The professional work by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs has a lot of relevance for the international community. Moving forward, this institution must uphold its commitment to the principles of political neutrality and respect for all space actors without exception. It is essential to counter any attempt to draw artificial ideology-driven dividing lines in terms of cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space.

💬 Sergey Lavrov: In the current geopolitical conditions, it is important to maintain contact between leading world experts on issues that unite people, including space exploration. In turn, the Foreign Ministry will continue to help preserve essential channels for depoliticised dialogue (excerpt from a message of greetings to the organisers of and participants in the Time to Go to Space International Festival timed to coincide with Space Day, April 11, 2023).
