💬 Honestly, I meant to feel sorry for Borrell. But then I decided to hold on to my sympathy and keep it for later.

I love these spectacularly stupid columns and articles written by a group or collective and signed by those... who have long lost the ability to write let alone read.

All the works by Borrells and Bidens are not even edited by them. And they should have.

In addition to an article attributed to the US president, another imperishable work by Borrell has come to light.

And again, it is about Ukraine. I have already commented on the garish passages published on behalf of Joe Biden. I left the review of the EU speechwriters’ fantasies for dessert. This time, instead of the cherry there is a juicy strawberry on the top of this cake. 🍓

If there is anything in the article written by Borrell himself, it is the title: In the Eye of the Hurricane.

No, it is not about a desert storm or something like that.

The thing is that In the Eye of the Hurricane is the English title of an 1970s erotic film El ojo del huracán filmed in Borrell’s home country, Spain (joint Spanish-Italian production).

When the film was released, Spanish-born Josep was 24. I understand that he saw it, but I do not understand why he was so impressed.

What is the film about?

The story is about young and rich woman Ruth who decides to divorce her caring husband Michel because she is infatuated with sex addict Paul. After this someone is trying to kill Ruth, who repeatedly becomes subject to sexual assault. One could wonder, what does it have to do with Ukraine?...

🇷🇺🇹🇯 President Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, who has arrived in Russia on an official visit, held talks in the Kremlin.

💬 Vladimir Putin: Our relations are developing progressively and have reached a very high level. Suffice it to say that Russia is the main trade and economic partner.

Imports from Tajikistan, primarily the imports of agricultural products, have grown considerably, by 67 percent. It is a very good indicator.

Our cultural ties are developing dynamically, and I would like to say in this connection that on September 1, 2022, you and I took part [via videoconference] in the opening ceremony of five schools with Russian as a subject and as the language of instruction.

🎓 There are also Tajik students and post-graduate students at our universities. Tajikistan has the largest quota in the CIS: 900 people. We will increase it to 1,000 for the 2024–2025 academic year.

🇷🇺🇧🇾📞 On November 21, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus Sergey Aleinik.

The Ministers discussed current issues of bilateral foreign policy cooperation and the integration building of the Union State, exchanged views on current global and regional issues, and also considered the schedule for upcoming meetings at the highest and high levels.
🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during talks with the ministerial committee on Gaza

📍Moscow, November 21, 2023

💬 I am delighted to see you in Moscow and would like to welcome the delegation of the League of Arab States (#LAS), the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (#OIC), foreign ministers of member states, and the OIC Secretary-General.

I am aware that you formed this group following the LAS-OIC joint summit, which took place on November 11 in Riyadh.

Your goal now is to mobilise as many members of the international community as possible to stop the bloodshed in Gaza, to ensure the resolution of humanitarian issues, and to create proper conditions for a lasting and sustainable settlement in accordance with the UN Security Council and the General Assembly resolutions.

🤝 I sincerely appreciate this initiative and I believe it is an important one.

⚠️ Today's situation shows how catastrophic the consequences can be to go down a path that ignores international law. We are witnessing calamitous humanitarian consequences in Gaza. The volume of incoming humanitarian aid is clearly inadequate.

In order to be able to move towards this goal, alongside the efforts to address the acute humanitarian issues that I mentioned earlier, there is also a need to form a collective diplomatic mechanism.

The quartet of international mediators, which was, in fact, disbanded by the decision of the US (they refused to work in this format), did not include representatives of the Arab and Islamic world. <...> The quartet could not fulfill the functions assigned to it by the UN Security Council.

☝️ The external monitoring mechanism to coordinate the conditions for a lasting and sustainable settlement based on a two-state solution must be truly representative. It must fully take into account the obvious fact that the countries of the region understand better than others how to achieve a solution that will satisfy everyone for many years to come.

🗓 On November 21, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting in Moscow with foreign ministers of Arab and Muslim countries -- Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud from Saudi Arabia, Sameh Shoukri from Egypt, Retno Marsudi from Indonesia, Ayman Safadi from Jordan and Riyad al-Maliki from Palestine and Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha. They are members of the committee that was established in Riyadh on November 11 at the emergency joint summit of the Arab League and the #OIC on the Gaza situation.

The meeting consisted of a detailed exchange of views and a comprehensive analysis of the situation in the zone of the Palestine-Israel conflict. This unprecedented escalation of violence has already claimed over 12,000 Palestinian and 1,400 Israeli lives.

☝️ Having resolutely denounced all forms of terrorism, the participants emphasised that it is unacceptable to fight this evil by means of collective punishment or the indiscriminate use of force against civilian facilities in violation of the Geneva conventions.

The participants confirmed the similarities of the approaches of Russia and countries of the Arab-Muslim community to overcoming this crisis, and expressed their shared support for achieving a durable ceasefire as soon as possible, protecting civilians, respecting international humanitarian law, opening humanitarian corridors, continuing evacuations from the Gaza Strip and freeing hostages.

<...>

❗️ They underlined the need to step up international efforts to create the conditions for progress in negotiations between the sides. These negotiations should result in the formation of an independent Palestinian state in the 1967 borders with its capital in East Jerusalem, co-existing in peace and security with Israel.

🇷🇺🇹🇯 Following the Russia-Tajikistan talks, Presidents Vladimir Putin and Emomali Rahmon made statements for the press.

💬 Vladimir Putin: The official visit of the President of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation is taking place in a friendly and business-like atmosphere, which is entirely in keeping with the character of the strategic partnership and allied relations between our countries.

📈 At today’s talks, we paid special attention to economic interaction. Russia is traditionally one of Tajikistan’s largest trade partners. Last year, trade went up by 18.3 percent to reach almost US$1.5 billion.

Russia almost fully meets the Tajikistani economy’s demand for oil products. Importantly, energy sources are supplied without export customs duties.

Our country is also helping Tajikistan develop its electricity generation capacities. Thus, the Sangtuda HPP built with Russia’s participation, generates over ten percent of electricity that Tajikistan consumes.

As you know, about a million, or probably a bit more Tajikistani citizens live and work in Russia. Our agencies are trying to provide citizens of Tajikistan in Russia with decent working conditions and social protection.

☝️ I would like to note that the President of Tajikistan is paying special attention to the promotion and support of the Russian language and culture in Tajikistan. Our countries cooperate in the humanitarian area, in culture and education. As I said, in Tajikistan, Russian has constitutional status as a language of interethnic communication, and Russia is striving to help create favourable conditions for studying it.

I would like to note that over 35,000 Tajikistani students are now studying at Russian universities, their branches in the republic, and at Russia-Tajikistan (Slavonic) University.

🤝 We agreed to continue deepening our defence, military-technical, counterterrorism and antidrug cooperation. In general, we will continue working to maintain peace and stability in Central Asia.

🎙 President Vladimir Putin took part in an extraordinary #BRICS summit on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, being held via videoconference.

💬 Vladimir Putin: The thousands of deaths and mass expulsion of civilians, the humanitarian disaster unfolding in the area are causing deep concern.

And all of that is, in fact, happening as a consequence of the US’ aspiration to monopolise the mediation role in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement process and block the activities of the Middle East Quartet of international mediators.

☝️ Because of the sabotage of UN decisions, which clearly called for the establishment and peaceful coexistence of two independent and sovereign states – Israel and Palestine – more than one generation of Palestinians has grown up in an atmosphere of injustice, and Israelis cannot fully guarantee the security of their state either.

It is worth noting that all BRICS countries have similar positions on the need to collectively reach long-term and durable settlement of the long-standing Palestinian-Israeli problem.

👉 The most urgent goal is to reach a truly long-term and sustainable truce. It is important that other states not get drawn into a war in the Middle East and that the conflict not spread in any way, as is preserving the fragile peace between religions.

🗓 On November 22, 1941, the first supply lorries drove across the ice of Ladoga Lake into besieged Leningrad. The 30 km-long route became known as the Road of Life — the only transport route linking the northern capital with the mainland during the Siege.

Over 2.5 million people, including 400,000 children, still remained in Leningrad on September 8, 1941, when the Nazis besieged it and thousands of people were dying of hunger daily before the Road of Life became operational.

🌾 During the first relief trip 60 of the legendary GAZ-AA “polutorka” lorries delivered 70 tonnes of flour to the people of Leningrad. Despite extremely bad weather conditions and constant Nazi shelling and bombing, the participants in the operation ensured the uninterrupted functioning of the transport route, making up to 3 trips per day to deliver the food to the residents of Leningrad.

🕯 To give you the scale of the operation: 300,000+ people were involved in the servicing and using the ice route. Nobody knows the exact number of people who gave their lives on the ice of Lake Ladoga. They were drivers, antiaircraft gunners, repairmen & traffic regulators.

💬 Driver of the 804th auto base on the Road of Life, Leonid Barkovich:
Each of us wanted to avoid an enemy shell but everyone knew that death alone would prevent us from doing our duty and carrying out orders.

Overall, more than 1.6 million tonnes of cargo were delivered to the besieged city and 1.376 million people were evacuated by the end of the Road of Life’s operation in the spring of 1943. Combat hardware produced by Leningrad plants were carried in the opposite direction. This included KV tanks that were critical for the front and were manufactured only in Leningrad at that time.

Owing to the incredible efforts of drivers, freight handlers, engineers and auto mechanics, tens of thousands of people in Leningrad were saved from starvation. The delivered relief allowed them to survive the most horrible days of winter in the besieged city.

🎙 Briefing by Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik on the crimes committed by the Kiev regime.

📍 Moscow, November 21, 2023

Key talking points:

• The Maidan became a trigger that led the country to decades of bloodshed and degradation. The acting president was illegitimate and he ordered gangs of radicals to kill the residents of Donbass that did not agree with the coup d'etat.

❗️ We are convinced: were the Donetsk People's Republic and the Lugansk People's Republic not recognized by Russia on February 21, 2022, and the agreements on mutual assistance were not signed, the residents of Donbass could've faced the plight of the victims we are now witnessing in the Middle East.

• We can state the facts of the Ukrainian army hitting ambulances, medical staff, and the purpose is to deprive people of getting emergency medical assistance.

• The use of terrorist methods by the Ukrainian armed forces has become a common practice.

• The Kiev regime is striking technogenically hazardous and radiation-hazardous sites. They try to use the technogenical danger in order to aggravate the situation.

☢️ The issue of attempts to create a radiation catastrophe for the Kiev regime is a separate item, as the Ukrainian armed forces and other special services of Ukraine have made repeated attempts to strike three nuclear facilities at once run by Russia. The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant was the most frequently hit by Ukrainian armed formations.

• Latest data confirms that time for the purposeful strikes by Ukrainian military on social institutions on Russian territory is chosen deliberately to target more civilians, given that high-precision weapons are used.

☝️ We investigate all of these cases in order to follow the prosecutors for these crimes. <...> We will finally move to organizing a specialized criminal investigations against the political leadership of Ukraine for their terrorist activities and violating humanitarian law, as well as those crimes mentioned before.
🎙 Russia's President Vladimir Putin took part in the extraordinary G20 summit, held via videoconference.

💬 Vladimir Putin: The state of affairs in the global economy and the world at large require collective, consensus-based decisions that reflect the views of the overwhelming majority of the international community, including both developed and developing countries. <...>

The enormous stress on the global economy is a direct consequence of the ill-considered macroeconomic policies of some countries. <...>

Unlawful trade restrictions and the climate agenda pursued by some countries in order to improve their own competitiveness, continue to have a negative impact. <...>

🇷🇺 Russia advocates restoring the spirit of open and mutually beneficial international economic cooperation based on the UN Charter and the principles of collegial and mutually respectful joint work.

It is important to achieve an effective optimisation of the global economic governance system, in particular, to restart the WTO in its entirety, including its arbitration function.

We need to enhance the role of developing economies in international financial institutions, including the IMF and the World Bank, and to use those bodies’ resources to promote the development of countries and regions that really need it, and not for opportunistic political purposes.

🤝 We are ready to work together to address these urgent issues at the G20 and other international institutions, including BRICS, an association that is gaining weight and influence – this much is obvious, especially considering its ongoing expansion.

#Opinion of Maria Zakharova

Foreign Minister of Finland Elina Valtonen: “To begin with, we have a free civil society in Finland and we Finns are eager to help the Ukrainians in this defensive battle. We also have the right and even an international commitment to do this in accordance with the UN Charter.”

💬 Ms Valtonen, you are helping a neo-Nazi regime. Face the facts and don’t forget it!

As for a “free civil society,” nobody in Finland asks for its opinion.

What kind of a free society is it if its opinion is not even considered when making the most important decisions for the people and the country? Or have I missed something and a referendum on Finland’s accession to NATO was actually held?

I recall President Sauli Niinisto always said that if and when this issue became urgent it would be necessary to hold a consultative referendum. He also invoked “freedom” and “democracy.” But when it became necessary to go from words to deeds, nobody asked your “society.” Everything was done according to Washington’s instructions.
🕯 We mourn the untimely death of Boris Maksudov, correspondent of the Rossiya-24 television channel.

This is an irreparable loss for the entire journalistic community in Russia. The memory of him as a talented professional and a bright creative personality will forever remain in our hearts.

It was thanks to his selfless work that the world could see the truth about what was happening on the line of contact and about the terrorist methods used by the criminal Kiev regime against civilians, including journalists.

We express our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
🎙 President of Russia Vladimir Putin took part in a Plenary Session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) in Minsk.

💬 President Putin: The Belorusian chairmanship and the team of all states taking part in this session have conducted active work throughout the year. This work facilitated the consolidation of our allied ties in the CSTO on the principles of respect, consideration of each other’s interests and support.

In this way, the CSTO member-countries in effect promoted the CSTO’s key role as a regional defensive structure responsible for the maintenance of peace and stability in the vast Eurasian space.

☝️ Importantly, this year the CSTO has also developed its contacts with our natural partners, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (#SCO) and the #CIS.

I would like to make a special mention of our joint efforts to improve the collective rapid deployment forces, aviation and the CSTO peacekeeping forces. A number of measures have been taken to maintain combat readiness, enhance the command and control system and provide more training for military personnel.

We have consistently promoted cooperation between our security services and law enforcement bodies. Notably, the CSTO is continuing its Operation Mercenary aimed at preventing the recruitment of citizens of our countries and blocking the channels of their exit for participation in international terrorist groups.

We implemented together a package of measures on countering extremism, cross-border crime, illegal migration and drug trafficking.

The CSTO Coordination Council on Biological Security has launched its work. It has focused on preventing threats linked with the development and use of biological weapons and ensuring radiation, chemical and medical protection.
