🎖 #OTD in 1908, Dmitry Ustinov was born – the legendary People’s Commissar of Armaments during the Great Patriotic War & World War II – it was he who ensured that the Soviet military industrial complex was evacuated during the first months of the war, and surpassed the Axis potential, contributing greatly to the Victory over Nazism.

He gained this high post at the age of only 32, having risen from a fitter to People’s Commissar of Armaments. He was appointed to that post on June 9, 1941, less than two weeks before Nazi Germany’s treacherous attack on the Soviet Union. The first few months of the war were especially difficult. Ustinov worked 20 hours a day to evacuate defence plants from the endangered areas and to launch military production in besieged Moscow and Leningrad.

📈 The young commissar was assigned a vital and seemingly insurmountable task – to prevail over the German military machine, which the whole of Europe was supplying with weapons. Ustinov worked selflessly to attain that goal. During the war, the Soviet Union produced nearly twice as many weapons as Germany and the countries it occupied.

Ustinov greatly contributed to the production of artillery guns and rifles and to the challenging scientific and technological task of creating new armaments. During his term in office, the manufacturing of artillery guns increased fivefold and of rifles, by 22 times.

After the war, Ustinov was appointed Minister of the Defence Industry of the USSR contributing immensely to strengthening the defence capabilities of our country. In 1976, he received the rank of Marshal of the Soviet Union.

🕯 Dmitry Ustinov died in 1984 and was the last person whose ashes were interred in the Kremlin Wall Necropolis.

⚓️ October 30 marks the Foundation Day of the Russian Navy.

#OnThisDay in 1696, the Boyar Duma approved Peter the Great’s edict on the foundation of the regular Navy – “Sea-going ships shall set sail.”

A small vessel, found by 16-year-old Peter the Great in the village of Izmailovskoye and restored at his request, became the “grandfather” of the Russian Navy. Although this was not the first Russian warship, it was the vessel that sparked the Russian Tsar’s interest in shipbuilding.

The Azov Fleet became the first regular unit of the Russian Navy. Established in Voronezh, the fleet defended Russia’s southern borders. Voronezh was also home to Russia’s first Admiralty and navigation school. A white flag with a St Andrew’s Cross, now the official Russian naval pennant, was also hoisted for the first time in that city.

In 1702, during the Great Northern War, the Baltic Fleet was established, while the Caspian Flotilla was founded in 1722, following the successful Persian campaign. In 1783, the Black Sea Fleet was established, after Crimea became part of the Russian Empire.

The first Soviet shipbuilding programme was approved in 1926. The existing fleets were reinforced and the Pacific Fleet and the Northern Fleet were established in 1935 and 1937, respectively.

🎖 During the Great Patriotic War, the Soviet Navy fought enemy naval forces, protected sea-going and inland shipping and supported coastal operations involving Red Army units. Seventy-eight ships that distinguished themselves in battle received Guards status and over 500 sailors became Heroes of the Soviet Union.

Today, the Russian Navy consists of strategic nuclear naval forces and general-purpose naval forces. It operates surface and submarine units, naval aviation and coastal troops. The latter include coastal missile and artillery units and the marine corps.

🚢 We are proud of the heroic history of the Russian Navy, and we cherish the memory of our shipbuilders and naval commanders!

🇷🇺🇺🇸 Ambassador Anatoly Antonov’s answer to a media question

: Dear Ambassador Antonov, how could you comment on statements by White House officials about recent incidents in the Republic of Dagestan?

💬 Anatoly Antonov: We consider the bilious reaction of the Administration and local media to the incidents in Makhachkala as nothing other than an attempt to undermine the ethno-confessional unity of the Russian Federation. Here, apparently, they were disappointed that the Russian law enforcement agencies were able to neutralize the risks of destabilization inspired from outside.

☝️ It’s time for Washington to cut its teeth: any attempts aimed at undermining the constitutional order in our country, as well as the interethnic and interreligious harmony that Russia has been for ages famous for, are doomed to failure.

👉 Instead of inciting conflicts around the world, local so-called strategists would do well to be concerned about the safety of their own citizens, who, among other things, are suffering from an epidemic of gun violence in the United States, including those motivated by racial hatred.

🎙 President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with members of the Security Council and Government, and the heads of security agencies (October 30, 2023)

💬 At a recent meeting with religious associations’ leaders, I spoke about the attempts to use the dramatic situation in the Middle East and other regional conflicts against our country to destabilise and divide our multi-ethnic and multi-faith society.

<...>

Those behind the Middle East conflict and other regional conflicts will be using the destructive impact of these conflicts to sow hatred and cause clashes between people around the world.

We remember how the current phase of the Middle East crisis began: it was a terrorist attack against Israeli civilians and civilians from other countries who happened to be in Israel at that time. We see that, unfortunately, instead of punishing criminals and terrorists, they started to retaliate according to the principle of collective responsibility.

There is no justification for the terrible events taking place in Gaza now, where hundreds of thousands of innocent people are being killed indiscriminately, without having anywhere to flee or hide from the bombing. When you see blood-stained children, dead children, the suffering of women and old people, when you see medics killed, of course, it makes you clench your fists as tears well in your eyes.

<...>

We must clearly understand who in reality is behind the tragedy of peoples in the Middle East and in other regions around the world, who has been organising this lethal chaos and who benefits from it.

<...>

These are the current ruling elites in the US and its satellites who are the main beneficiaries of the global instability that they use to extract their bloody rent.

The US as a global superpower is becoming weaker and is losing its position, and everyone sees and understands this, even judging by the trends in the world economy. The American-style world, with the hegemony of one country, is being destroyed and is receding gradually but inexorably into the past.
#Opinion by Maria Zakharova

Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Stéphane Dujarric: “My understanding is that the security forces and the Government have restored order, but we condemn unconditionally the actions and the words of those people who tried to storm the airport, who tried to hunt down people just because of their religion, and we condemn those acts of antisemitism without reserve.”

💬 What astonishing selectivity and fantastic hypocrisy.

When UN employees were killed in Gaza a couple of days ago, Stéphane Dujarric, who represents the UN, did not know whom to condemn and what words to use, just as in the case with the Zaporozhye Power Plant. Even though it was about his direct zone of responsibility, the deaths of his colleagues.

As for “hunting people down because of their religion,” I hope that the UN Secretariat will muster the courage to condemn the many years of oppression of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the Kiev regime. Neither the UN Secretary-General, nor his spokesperson have said a word in defence of Orthodox Christians in Ukraine, who were assaulted, humiliated, shunned from churches, threatened, thrown in jail and otherwise persecuted. The Russian Permanent Mission literally flooded the UN Secretariat with letters on this matter.

Following the statement by the Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, we demand that they respond to everything we have informed the UN Secretariat about on a regular basis.

Russia & UNESCO - mutually beneficial cooperation 🤝
🎙 From President Vladimir Putin's speech during a meeting with members of the Security Council and Government, and heads of security agencies (October 30, 2023)

💬 Today, Russia is not just actively participating in the formation of a new, fairer multipolar world with equal rights and opportunities for all countries and civilisations. We are not only one of the leaders of this objective historical process, but I will say more, and everyone knows this: Russia is fighting on the battlefield for our future, for the principles of a just world order, for the freedom of countries and peoples.

❗️ I will repeat again: the ruling elites of the US and its satellites are behind the tragedy of the Palestinians, the massacre in the Middle East in general, the conflict in Ukraine, and many other conflicts in the world – in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and so on. This has become obvious to everyone.

🔻 They are not achieving results on the battlefield, so they want to split us from within, as far as Russia is concerned, to weaken us and sow confusion.

🔻 They do not want Russia to participate in solving any international or regional problems, including in the Middle East settlement.

🔻 They do not need durable peace in the Holy Land; they need constant chaos in the Middle East.

🔺 Unlike the West, our approaches towards the situation in the Middle East have always lacked mercenary interests, intrigues and double standards.

❗️ The key to resolving the conflict lies in establishing a sovereign and independent Palestinian state, a full-fledged Palestinian state. We have repeatedly said this openly and honestly during our contacts with the Palestinian and Israeli leaders.
🇷🇺🇸🇦📞 On October 31, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke over the phone with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

Topical issues of bilateral relations and cooperation in the #BRICS format were discussed, in the context of the BRICS leaders’ decision, made at the 15th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg on August 22-24, to invite new members to join the grouping from January 1, 2024.

A detailed discussion on the Middle East settlement process took place.

⚡️ Briefing by Chief of Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov on US military-biological activity (October 31, 2023)

📄 Under the guise of 'public health' issues on the African continent, the Pentagon solves its own tasks: it monitors the biological situation, collects and exports samples of infectious agents and their vectors.

☝️ This activities have not ceased, continue to this day.

One of the Pentagon's tasks is so-called 'biological espionage', i.e. analysing the epidemic situation along the borders of geopolitical adversaries and in the expected regions of military contingent deployment.

☣️ The Russian Side has data confirming that the Pentagon set tasks to monitor the biological situation in the territories of Iraq and Afghanistan bordering China, Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia.

In order to avoid accusations against the Pentagon, some projects were implemented under the cover of the US Department of State.

<...>

❗️ Such research is inconsistent with Washington's commitment to nonproliferation of biological weapons. The documents available attest to an ongoing programme in the US focused on the production of biological weapons.

The US maintains a keen interest in conducting research in Ukraine. The fact of the implementation of US 'scientific programmes' in Ukraine was confirmed in January 2023 by John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council.

Moreover, the US administration retains control over some Ukrainian biosites, expecting to resume their activities once the conflict is over.

🎙 From President Vladimir Putin's speech during a meeting with members of the Security Council and Government, and heads of security agencies (October 30, 2023)

⚡️ The events in Makhachkala last night were instigated also through social networks, not least from Ukraine, by agents of Western intelligences services. I would like to ask myself in this connection: is it possible to help Palestine by trying to attack the Tat people and their families? Tats, by the way, are the titular nation in Daghestan. The only way to help Palestine is to fight those who are behind this tragedy. We, Russia, are fighting them in a special military operation, fighting them for ourselves and for those who seek real, true freedom.

I never cease to be amazed by the Kiev regime and its overseas masters. We know that Bandera and other henchmen of Hitler have already been put on a pedestal of honour, we know and see how the Ukrainian leadership applauds the Nazis of the Second World War, who were guilty of the Holocaust victims, who personally took part in these crimes, and today, under the guidance of their Western patrons, are trying to instigate pogroms in Russia.

By the way, I am not sure whether all the leading circles in the same States are aware of this. It would not be a bad idea for those who care so much about the citizens of Israel to investigate what their security services are doing in Ukraine, whether they are trying to instigate pogroms in Russia.

❗️ But those who really stand up for truth and justice, who fight against evil and oppression, against racism and neo-Nazism, which the West encourages, are now fighting at the front – near Donetsk, Avdeyevka, on the Dnieper. I repeat: these are our soldiers and officers. And the choice of a real man, a true warrior, is to take up arms and stand in line with his brothers, to be there where the fate of Russia and, indeed, of the whole world, including the future of the Palestinian people, is being decided.
🇷🇺🇸🇾📞 On October 31, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) Faisal Mekdad, at the latter’s initiative.

The Foreign Ministers paid special attention to the dramatic developments in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone.

Sergey Lavrov remarked that it is unacceptable for the military escalation to spread to Syria and other countries in the region. In this regard, he criticised as unacceptable the Israeli air strikes on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, which have become more frequent amid the events around the Gaza Strip. The Ministers emphasised the danger of the attempts by external forces to turn the Middle East into an arena for settling geopolitical scores, in the current explosive situation.

The officials stressed the need to immediately stop the bloodshed in Gaza, address all humanitarian problems resulting from the fighting, and discuss a long-term settlement by political and diplomatic means according to the established international legal framework.

The Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to the conscientious implementation of the UN Security Council decisions on the Syrian settlement based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.

A number of #RussiaSyria bilateral matters were also considered.

💬 You are sorely mistaken if you think Nazi symbols were last displayed in Luxembourg when it was occupied by the Third Reich in the 1940s.

Here is a photo from last week: the railway station in the tiny European state of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg features a portrait of a Nazi fighter from the Azov volunteer battalion. He has a chest patch with Wolfsangel, the Nazi rune of the SS Division Reich.

The exhibit was organised by the LUkraine ASBL Association which was dead set on drawing locals’ attention to the situation in Ukraine.

It achieved its goal and then some: even the nation’s authorities were shocked by the Nazi symbols at the railway station, causing the administration to urgently intervene and remove the photo of the Nazi fighter from public view.

I believe they should have left it up.

Europeans should see for themselves how EU politicians are spending their tax money to support the Nazis of the Kiev regime. 👉 Photo

"The World Order as It Should Be"

On October 5, 2023, the leading experts on global politics from Russia and around the world convened at the Valdai discussion club meeting to exchange opinions on the changes and challenges that the current international order is going through.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s interview with the Belarusian Telegraph Agency (Minsk, October 28, 2023)

Key talking points:

💬 The Palestinian issue has now become particularly acute. President Vladimir Putin has made it absolutely clear: we emphatically reject and condemn any terrorist attacks.

• While condemning terrorism, we emphatically disagree with the assertions that it is possible to respond to terrorism by violating the norms of international humanitarian law, including the indiscriminate use of force against facilities where the civilian population is present. This includes hostage-taking and other actions that, as I have said, go against international humanitarian law.

🌐 The Soviet Union was among the main initiators of establishing the State of Israel at a time when the United Kingdom did not care about this issue very much, after leaving the region in chaos. <...> The Palestinian state has not been established to date for a variety of reasons. This prospect became more and more elusive at every historical stage. The territory allotted to the Palestinians during the establishment of Israel was consistently reduced several times based on actions on the ground.

• Abstracting from the immediate, momentary processes associated with manifestations of extremist sentiments, one cannot but recognise in historical terms that the failure to resolve the issue of establishing a Palestinian state is, in my opinion, the most serious factor used to fuel extremism and terrorism in that region.

☝️ We consistently express our disapproval of terrorism and the unacceptability of responding to terrorism in a way that inflicts harm on innocent civilians. We call for an immediate end to the hostilities after this heated period of the conflict is over. This is how our resolution, which we submitted to the UN Security Council twice, differs from the American resolution which does not address ending hostilities, but solely condemns Hamas.

🎙 Statement by Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at UNSC briefing on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine (October 31, 2023)

💬 The Ukrainian clique, as we all know very well today, had more than one opportunity to silence the guns.

First of all, they should have stopped the war against the peaceful population of Donbass, which began more than 9 years ago. Then they should have rejected glorification of Nazi collaborators who had been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Jews, Roma, Poles, Russians and Ukrainians. They should have granted to the entire population of the country, without exception or discrimination, the rights that people in the vast majority of other countries enjoy by default. That includes countries of the European Union, which Ukraine so desperately seeks to join.

☝️ In other words, Ukraine should have stopped being an "Anti-Russia" and returned to normal, civilized and good-neighborly development.

However, the regime that came to power in 2014 with Western help after an anti-constitutional coup missed all these opportunities without asking its citizens whether they wanted to fight until last Ukrainian. What’s more, the regime in Kiev actually boasts about it, begging for more and more Western military aid.

<...>

❗️ The fact is consistently silenced down that from the very beginning of the conflict in Donbass in 2014 the Kiev military has been attacking critical civilian infrastructure, primarily water and heating facilities. Besides, medical and educational institutions have been and continue to be destroyed.

All sorts of compromised mechanisms that were created in the West rubber stamp whatever reports and data are needed for that purpose. Structures responsible for this propaganda and various Russophobic narratives seat in Kiev, Washington, London and Brussels.
