🗓 The legendary Victory Parade took place in Moscow’s Red Square on June 24, 1945 to mark the end of the Great Patriotic War and the triumph of the Soviet people over Nazi Germany.

The Parade commenced at precisely 10 am and lasted for over two hours under the command of Marshall of the Soviet Union Konstantin Rokossovsky. The Parade was reviewed by Deputy Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov.

⚔️ Ten combined regiments were formed to take part in the Parade. Each regiment had over a thousand of the most distinguished fighters.

After riding past the soldiers on horseback to the accompaniment of the sounds of a combined military orchestra of almost 1,400 musicians Georgy Zhukov congratulated the Soviet people and the valiant Armed Forces on the Victory.

🥁 Drummer-cadets from the Suvorov Military School were the first to pass through the square. They were followed by the combined regiments of the fronts in order of their north-to-south location. Infantry, marines, pilots, cavalry, cadets, Katuysha rocket launchers, artillery and tanks paraded past the rostrums.

🏴 The Parade reached a peak with the passage of a column of Soviet soldiers that carried 200 lowered banners and standards of the defeated Nazis and threw them at the foot of the Mausoleum.

☝️ Overall, 24 marshals, 249 generals, 2,536 officers, 31,116 sergeants and soldiers that distinguished themselves in combat and were awarded with orders and medals took part in the march. Around 1,850 units of military equipment were part of the Parade.

The anniversary parade for war veterans and home-front workers took place on Red Square on May 9, 1995 to celebrate 50 years since the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The combined regiments of veterans represented all 10 fronts of the war years with their combat banners. Since then, the Victory Parade has been held on Red Square every year in honour of those who gave the world freedom at the cost of their own lives.

🇷🇺🇹🇷📞 President Vladimir Putin spoke over the phone with President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The President of Russia informed his counterpart on the situation in the country in connection with an attempted armed mutiny. The Turkish President expressed full support for the steps taken by the Russian leadership.

#RussiaTurkiye
⚡️ Foreign Ministry statement on the current political situation in the country

💬 The attempted armed mutiny in our country is resolutely rejected by Russian society, which strongly supports President of Russia Vladimir Putin. Reckless aspirations of the conspirators are essentially aimed at destabilising the situation in Russia, destroying our unity, and undermining the efforts of the Russian Federation to reliably ensure international security. Therefore, the mutiny plays into the hands of Russia's external enemies.

We warn Western countries against undertaking even the slightest attempts to use the domestic Russian situation to achieve their Russophobic goals. Such attempts would be futile and will find no resonance either in Russia or among reasonable political forces abroad. We firmly believe that in the near future the situation will find a solution worthy of the age-old wisdom of the Russian people and the Russian State.

All the goals and objectives of the special military operation will be achieved.

☝️ Our country will continue on its sovereign course to ensure its security, defend its values, strengthen its authority in the international arena, and establish a just multipolar world order.

We highly value the understanding of this principled position by our allies and foreign partners, which we are fully aware of already now.

#Ukraine
It has been reported that the lion’s share of European and American humanitarian aid for the people of Ukraine is appropriated by Kiev officials who are famously steeped in corruption.

They invent ever more grey schemes to take over (actually, steal) humanitarian aid. Up to a third of this cargo vanishes on the way to its addressees.

#NATO
Air Defender 23 exercise, now underway in German airspace. This is the largest exercise involving NATO air forces since the alliance’s inception. Its scale implies that Washington and its allies are drafting operational plans for engaging an adversary with a comparable potential.

In these conditions, we would like to note once again that any attempts to threaten the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Russian Federation will inevitably result in repercussions for their organisers.

#Kosovo
The situation in the southern Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija is steadily deteriorating. The self-proclaimed authorities led by “prime minister” Albin Kurti are openly moving towards an armed conflict.

The United States and the EU continue to turn a blind eye to “prime minister” Albin Kurti’s disruptive actions and intentionally lead the settlement process to an impasse, forcing Serbs to give up their vital interests.

🗓️ June 26 is International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

🇺🇳 Proclaimed in 1987 by a resolution of the UN General Assembly

📌 On this day in 1839, at the walls of the city of Guangzhou, officials and soldiers of the Chinese Qing Empire completed the burning of opium confiscated from English drug dealers (over a million kilograms)
🇲🇬 On June 26, the Republic of #Madagascar is celebrating #IndependenceDay.

On that day, in 1960, the country gained full independence from France, which had occupied the territory of Madagascar since 1896. During the French rule, the local population suffered from repressions, violations of human rights and freedoms, experienced a drastic decline in living standards.

In an effort to free itself from the colonial yoke, the Malagasy nation revolted against the colonisers in 1947.

🕯 The French forces crushed the uprising using inhuman and brutal methods against members of the liberation movement and civilians. Military units destroyed entire villages, mercilessly killed women and children, tortured and raped people. There were recorded cases of people been thrown out of flying airplanes while still alive.

❗️ According to various estimates, up to 100,000 Malagasy people were killed during the uprising. Despite comprehensive evidence of the French crimes, the former colonisers refuse to label the events of those days as an act of genocide.

On June 26, 1960, the independence of Madagascar was proclaimed amid persisting anti-colonial sentiments on the island.

The Soviet Union always supported the Malagasy nation in its struggle against colonial oppression and supported the formation of Madagascar’s sovereignty and independent economy.

🤝 Our countries established diplomatic relations on September 29, 1972.

🇷🇺🇲🇬 Russia and Madagascar maintain traditionally friendly ties. Our countries and peoples are united by a mutual striving to strengthen cooperation in a wide range of areas based on the principles of sovereign equality, mutual respect and consideration for each other’s interests.

🎉 We sincerely congratulate our Malagasy colleagues and friends on this holiday, and wish them peace, wellbeing and prosperity.

🎥 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s interview with RT (Moscow, June 26, 2023)
#Announcement

🎙 Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova will hold a briefing on current foreign policy issues at approximately 3 pm MSK (12 pm GMT) on June 28.

❗️ Accreditation is open until 2 pm on June 27.
🌾 As the Black Sea initiative to export Ukrainian food (which no longer covers the export of Russian ammonia) approaches its expiry date, UN officials led by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres have again made a series of public statements.

<...>

The reality, however, remains the same: out of the package of agreements proposed by the UN Secretary General and signed a year ago in Istanbul, the Black Sea initiative is the only one being implemented. At the same time, grain is mainly sent to high- and upper-middle-income countries, including the EU, which is far from the declared humanitarian goals. The poorest countries have essentially received nothing. Apart from sea traffic, Brussels also exports food from Ukraine via land security corridors, flooding markets of Eastern European countries with cheap products along the way.

❗️ Nothing has been done concerning the Russia-UN Memorandum. Westerners are feeling no qualms about openly asserting that they are continuing and tightening illegal unilateral sanctions against Russia, regardless of their destructive impact on food and fertilizer supplies on world markets, including in the global South. Three of the five fundamental tasks stipulated by the Memorandum – connecting Rosselkhozbank to SWIFT, supplying spare parts, and reactivating the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline – have already been effectively removed from the agenda. No progress has been made on the other two goals: to normalise transport logistics and insurance and unblock bank assets.

<...>

👉 It seems even more inappropriate that the UN Secretary General expressed disappointment regarding the decline in Ukrainian food exports under the Black Sea initiative. It is noteworthy, however, that the undermining of the ammonia pipeline on June 5, the reopening of which was provided for by both Istanbul agreements and a separate proposal by Antonio Guterres, has not received a response.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s answer to a question from the Belarusian All-National Television (June 24, 2023)

Question: Russian nuclear weapons deployment is one of the most discussed topics in Belarus. This issue is both military and political. Is this, in your opinion, the way it should be?

💬 Sergey Lavrov: Our Belarusian friends and Russian representatives at the level of presidents and foreign ministries have repeatedly explained the current developments. The Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, as members of the Union State (which has a common Security Concept), have the full right to agree on deploying a portion of Russia’s tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. I am referring not only to special storage facilities but also to specially equipped aircraft.

☝️ Neither Minsk, nor Moscow is breaching any international commitments, including under the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

❗️Russia retains control over the weapons that will be deployed in its ally’s territory. This fully ensures our compliance with the commitments I have mentioned.

It was not yesterday or the day before yesterday but many decades ago that the United States deployed its tactical nuclear weapons in five NATO countries under a programme known as Joint Nuclear Operations. The military in these non-nuclear countries are trained to handle these weapons. We repeatedly urged the US to withdraw these tactical nuclear weapons to its national territory in response to Washington’s appeals for discussing limitations on this type of weapons. We were ready to do that for years, provided that the Americans, like us, leave their tactical nuclear munitions in their national territory and eliminate the nuclear weapon infrastructure created in the five non-nuclear states.

🇺🇳 The United Nations Charter was signed on June 26, 1945, which became the main result of the San Francisco Conference.

This fundamental document was signed by 50 participating countries, including the USSR as well as its constituent entities: the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic. On behalf of the USSR, the UN Charter was signed by Andrey Gromyko.

📃 The UN Charter is a fundamental international document mandating the main principles and norms of states’ international behaviour and regulating relations between states as well as the activities of UN agencies and organisations within its system.

Today, the UN has 1️⃣9️⃣3️⃣ member states, with its activities embracing every sphere of the planet’s international, political, economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian life through its specialised agencies, committees and sub-committees.

🇷🇺 Russia invariably remains committed to multilateralism and the UN’s coordinating role in world affairs, and is actively involved in the effort to reform and adapt the UN to new international realities.

🎙️ Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov (an excerpt from his remarks at the general debate during the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly on September 24, 2022):

💬 Today, it is essential like never before that all member states reaffirm their clearly stated commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter without any reservations. This would be the first and necessary step to restoring their collective responsibility for the human destinies.

This was precisely the purpose of establishing the Group of Friends in Defence of the Charter of the United Nations. Co-founded by Russia, it already includes about two dozen countries. The group strives to ensure strict compliance with the universal norms of international law as a counterweight to pernicious unilateral approaches.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's answers to questions from Moscow. Kremlin. Putin programme ( June 25, 2023)

Question: President Biden said that the threat of Russia using nuclear weapons is “real.” How do you assess this comment?

💬 Sergey Lavrov: I find it difficult to comment on what US President Joe Biden has been saying lately. As do other observers who are wondering how to interpret all this. I would not attach too much importance to verbal escapades that have no foundation.

Question: Recently, Vladimir Zelensky made a statement that if Russian President Vladimir Putin used nuclear weapons in Ukraine, the world would find a way to eliminate him.

💬 Sergey Lavrov: This is an even more turbulent stream of consciousness. I can't comment on such things. I have not had medical training. But Ursula von der Leyen has.

Question: Why do we get targeted, while defending our interests? Verbally at least.

💬 Sergey Lavrov: I cannot be responsible for the psychological condition of people who repeatedly, on a daily basis prove their lack of sanity.

⚡️President Vladimir Putin's address to citizens of Russia (June 26, 2023)

💬 Today, I am addressing the citizens of Russia once again. Thank you for your restraint, cohesion and patriotism. This civic solidarity shows that any blackmail, any attempt to stage domestic turmoil is doomed to fail.

Excerpts

• Society and the executive and legislative branches of government at all levels displayed high consolidation. Public organisations, religious denominations, the leading political parties and actually all of Russian society held a firm line, taking an explicit position of supporting constitutional order. The main thing – responsibility for the destiny of the Fatherland – has united everyone, brought our people together

• It was exactly this outcome, fratricide, that the enemies of Russia – the neo-Nazis in Kiev, their Western patrons and other national traitors – wanted to see. They wanted Russian soldiers to kill each other; they wanted the military and civilians to die; they wanted Russia to lose eventually, and our society to break up and perish in a bloody feud.
🇩🇯 On June 27, the Republic of Djibouti celebrates its national day - Independence Day. The country acquired sovereignty in 1977 following a referendum.

Diplomatic relations between the USSR and Djibouti were established on April 3, 1978.

Russia and Djibouti enjoy traditionally friendly relations and beneficial cooperation. Djibouti's views on a number of key international issues are close to or coincide with Russia's.

🎉 We warmly congratulate our Djiboutian colleagues and friends on their holiday and wish them peace, well-being and prosperity.
⚡️ Comment by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on speculations about nuclear risks allegedly generated by Russia

💬 We regard the Kiev regime and its overseas patrons’ statements about Russia allegedly posing threats to the Zaporozhye NPP (#ZNPP), as a vile provocation.

This is yet another attempt to discredit Russia, ascribe to it non-existent intentions, and simultaneously cover up their criminal – and actually terrorist – plans to create a nuclear accident that will endanger the life and health of people in the region and all over Europe.

We once again warn the Kiev regime and its Western supporters against engineering potentially grave accidents at ZNPP and call on the IAEA and its leadership to take advantage of their experts’ presence at the plant and record all cases of Ukrainian attacks.

We note that this latest provocation by the Kiev regime squares in time and meaning with the draft resolution submitted by US senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal urging that an instance of radioactive contamination in Ukraine be regarded as a pretext for activating Art. 5 of the Washington Treaty complete with the launching of NATO’s relevant political and military response mechanisms.

It is clear that these irresponsible statements by the Washington hawks are meant for audiences that are ignorant of facts and realities. President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that there is no need for Russia to use nuclear weapons in the context of the Ukraine crisis.

👉 The United States deliberately continues to “up the ante” and generate strategic risks, involving its NATO allies in this dangerous game. This reckless policy will lead to extremely sad consequences, including for Washington itself.

🎙 Comment by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on the intended looting of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

💬 As it became known from a recently published report of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, the Kiev authorities are preparing, with support from their Western patrons, an operation to “evacuate” abroad the Christian valuables of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, including the locally preserved relics of Orthodox saints.

❗️ This flagrant act is yet another instance of Vladimir Zelensky’s criminal policy of destroying the traditional foundations of Ukrainian society and the age-old common spiritual bonds between our two peoples. Moreover, this involves not only a banal act of looting of the holy shrine but also the deprivation of the Ukrainian people and the entire Orthodox world of their religious, cultural, and historical heritage.

☝️ It is clear that the Kiev-based neo-Nazis have no use for the interests of the Ukrainian people and Ukraine itself. To line their pockets, they continue selling the country piece by piece, sending its black soil, grain, people, and even human organs to the West.

The Kiev regime’s persecution of priests, monks and parishioners of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church is an important topic of our regular conversations with the heads of the UNESCO Secretariat. Following these exchanges of views, we were given unequivocal assurances that UNESCO was not and would not be involved in the relocation of Orthodox objects of worship from Ukraine and specifically from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra World Heritage Site. As far as we know, Russian journalists have received identical assurances.

👉 Given that it is UNESCO’s international prestige that is at stake, we hope that the Secretariat will be as good as its word. For our part, we will continue to monitor the developments.
