Si considera che un animale sia ucciso correttamente se una persona competente utilizza un metodo di uccisione conforme alla protezione degli animali e lo fa in condizioni rispettose.

Gli animali possono essere uccisi soltanto da persone esperte (cfr. art. 177 OPAn)

L’animale deve essere sorvegliato fino al sopraggiungere della morte (cfr. art. 179 cpv. 1 OPAn)

L’animale è preparato in maniera rispettosa e immobilizzato

Si considerano metodi di uccisione crudeli, per esempio, l’immersione in acqua bollente, senza stordimento preliminare, o altri metodi con cui gli animali non sono storditi immediatamente, cfr. sezione successiva. L’animale viene ucciso solo previo stordimento (cfr. Art. 178 OPAn).
