*7 Injured As Picnic Bus from Bandipora Collides With Truck in Awantipora*

Srinagar, June 29 (GNS): Seven persons, including a driver and five students, suffered injuries after the picnic bus they were on board collided with a truck in Kadalbal area of Awantipora on National Highway.

Reports reaching GNS said that a bus bearing registration number JK05-3783, boarded by students of Higher Secondary School Gadakhod Sumbal, on way back after an outing from Pahalgam, collided with a truck, resulting into the injuries to seven students.

All seven students were removed to PHC Awantipora and later on referred to SMHS Srinagar for specialized treatment, where condition of all of them is stated to be stable.

The injured have been identified as (Driver) Sahil Bashir Ganie, 20, son of Bashir Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Harinaad Pattan, Mohd Ramzan Khan, 40, son of Ab Aziz Khan of Checki Budgam, Mumtaz Hussain Bhat, 18, son of Gh Mohd Bhat of Najan Sumbal, Rayees Ah Hajam, 19, son of Gh Hassan, a resident of Sumbal, Ruha Ullah Hussain Malla, 19, son of Nazir Ahmad, Sakavat Ali Dar, 17, son of Kav Hussain Dar, and Syeed Ruhallah, 18, son of Syeed Mohammad Shah, all residents of Gaad Khod Sumbal.

A police official while confirming the incident told GNS the accused truck driver managed to escape along with vehicle after the incident, adding however, a case under relevant sections stands registered and a hunt has been launched to nab the culprit very soon. (GNS)
*03 arrested as Fake Sim Card Racket busted in Budgam: Police*

Srinagar June 30 (GNS): Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a fake SIM card racket by arresting three persons involved in the commission of crime.

In a statement issued to Global News Service, the police said that police received specific information that, a group of PoS agents is operating in District Budgam and involved in cheating innocent people by forging their documents and using them as genuine to procure SIM cards for their personal interests and selling such SIM cards for criminal acts. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 201/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation was taken up.

According to police spokesman, during the course of investigation, 03 persons identified as Iqbal Hussain Khanday son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Sebdan, Mohammad Ishaq Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad resident of Kremshore and Ghulam Hassan Dar son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Razwen areas of Budgam were arrested.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested trio was working as retail vendors and used to issue SIM cards on fictitious names by using the photographs of their agents, family members and themselves. Also, as a supporting identification document, some of the accused have used a forged seal of J&K Bank Branch Kremshore to prepare fake bank passbooks, he said.

In order to unearth the whole module, a Special Investigation Team headed by ASP Budgam Gowhar Ahmad-JKPS has been constituted to investigate the case thoroughly including militant angle and if during investigation any such evidences are found the relevant sections under ULA(P) shall be incorporated, he said.

General public is hereby advised to remain cautious and acquire SIM cards through legal means after completing all verification processes and not to fall prey to the vested interests of SIM card scammers, he said.

*HC Imposes Rs 35000 Costs On Govt For 2 Adjournments In 2013 Case*

Srinagar, June 30 (GNS): The High Court of J&K and Ladakh has imposed Rs 35000 costs on the government for two adjournments this month in a petition after authorities failed to submit objections to the plea filed nine years ago.

First the court had imposed Rs 10000 penalty on Collector Land Acquisition Shopian on June 2 this year and now Rs 25000 have been imposed as the costs for the adjournment which the court said was “not inclined to but compelled by the circumstances”.

“The writ petition and the connected petitions are pending since 2013. All the official respondents have not yet filed counter affidavit despite several opportunities in the past,” a division bench of Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Javed Iqbal Wani said in an order, a copy of which lies with GNS.

“Respondent No. 8 (Collector Land Acquisition, District Shopian), was directed to file objections to the writ petition but he has not filed the same despite imposition of cost of Rs. 10,000/- vide order dated 02.06.2022,” said the division bench said, adding, “He was also directed to remain present before the Court, but he has not cared to appear nor has he deposited the costs probably for the reason that the order dated 02.06.2022 was never communicated to him.”

At this state Additional Advocate General M. A. Chashoo prayed for and was granted a week’s further time to file the objections and to ensure presence of the Collector Land Acquisition, District Shopian, as well as deposit the cost of Rs.10,000 imposed on June 2.

“Since it is a matter of 2013, we are not inclined to adjourn it but the circumstances have compelled us to do so,” the court said, adding, “Accordingly, we direct this petition to be listed on 20.07.2022 on which date the Collector Land Acquisition, District Shopian, shall remain present in Court along with record.”

It asked the AAG to ensure that the cost of Rs. 10,000/- imposed vide order dated 02.06.2022, are also deposited.

“The aforesaid adjournment is subject to payment of further cost of Rs. 25,000/- which shall be paid and deposited by the next date,” the court added. (GNS)
