ISIS on Tuesday claimed responsibility for an attack targeting an oil tanker near the northern Syrian city of Manbij.

The claim comes days after a suicide bombing struck a security facility in Raqqa Governorate on Monday, killing two members of the Interior Ministry and injuring several others.

Syria’s state-run al-Ikhbariya news channel reported that security forces eliminated one of the attackers, while a second attacker detonated an explosive vest after being surrounded.

In a statement published by the ISIS-linked Amaq News Agency, the group said its militants had targeted a government-owned oil tanker with machine-gun fire near Manbij last week, causing damage to the vehicle.

ISIS activity has increased in the region in recent months, with the group carrying out attacks on oil tankers, setting fire to oil wells, and imposing extortion payments on residents and drivers under the guise of collecting “zakat” (alms). The group has also intensified attacks against government personnel and security installations.

The commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, arrives in Italy, and will then head to France.

Members of Jolani’s supporters (HTS) assaulted a civilian in the town of Ain Tarma in the Damascus countryside, claiming he had ties to the former regime, solely because he belongs to the Alawite sect.
