๐Ÿ’ฎTwo-word conjunctions

โœณ๏ธeither โ€ฆ or โ€ฆ, neither โ€ฆ nor โ€ฆ, both โ€ฆ and โ€ฆ:

โ‡๏ธ You can drink chocolate milk either hot in the winter or cold in the summer.

๐Ÿ”น
Neither Lisa nor Helena had been to Italy before.
๐Ÿ”ธBoth you and I know what really happened.

โ˜๏ธApart from two-word conjunctions, we only use one conjunction to connect words or phrases:

โœ… Because my alarm didnโ€™t go off, I was late for work.

โŒ Because my alarm didnโ€™t go off, so I was late for work.

๐Ÿ’Ž We donโ€™t use a that-clause after in spite of or despite.

๐Ÿ’Ž We use in spite of the fact that or despite the fact that

When they arrived at Malaga it was hot, in spite of the fact that it was only the end of April.

โŒ in spite of that it was only the end of April

๐Ÿ’Ž In spite of is written as three separate words. We never use of with despite:

They enjoyed the rides in spite of the long queues. (or โ€ฆ despite the long queues.)

โŒinspite the long queues or โ€ฆ despite of the long queues.
