Trump then talked to Putin about her release.
In Russia, Karelina was tried for treason under wartime laws & sentenced to 12 years in prison for donating money to a Ukrainian army fund in 2022...
But she only donated $51, so she's not a huge criminal fish & got very lucky with friends in high places.
In exchange, Artur Petrov, who in the US is accused of violating export controls & 'smuggling contraband', returns to Russia.
