Ambedkar Convention Centre on March 10, 2026.

In her Welcome Address, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of IGNOU, Uma Kanjilal, emphasized the University’s strong commitment to gender inclusion in education. She highlighted that IGNOU has a sizeable number of female learners, reflecting the institution’s role in expanding access to higher education for women across the country.

Prof. Annu J. Thomas, Director of the School of Gender and Development Studies, introduced the theme and objectives of the event, underscoring the importance of promoting gender equality, entrepreneurship, and leadership among women.

Dr. Ranjita Panda, Chairperson of RSDCASH, presented an overview of the Committees Against Sexual Harassment (CASH) and the initiatives taken by IGNOU to ensure a safe and supportive environment for women across its academic and administrative spaces.

The Chief Guest, Mugdha Sinha (IAS), Managing Director of the India Tourism Development Corporation, delivered a Special Lecture during the event. In her address, she commended IGNOU for providing quality and affordable education to all sections of society, particularly women, who constitute a significant proportion of the University’s enrolments. She emphasized that education not only brings equality but also equity, enabling women to become empowered contributors to social and economic development.
